The packet of KitKats, Smarties, etc is what we call Halloween candy! Because Halloween and Trick or Treating is so popular most people don't give out full size candy bars (because it's more expensive and that would be a lot of chocolate) so you buy a box of minis from the same brand!

Time Horton's is now owned by Burger King franchise and therefore is American run. It use to be soooo good. They even sold full size cakes like Black Forest or special cakes for Easter like rabbit cakes. The food has gone down hill unfortunately since then. Ice caps are very good. I never really knew why but I think it's great. It was such a nice treat as a kid and this way the parents of the kid can choose how much candy the kid can have and when they are allowed to have it.

Funny, I had one of each of those minis today. Coffee Crisp is only made in Canada as far as I know but has been my favourite for over 30 years. The black box maple cookies were likely Dare and are made in Ontario, likely get dark maple syrup locally. Orange and chocolate are very English, a lot of people don't like it here.

Im not sure how parties work now, but in the 90s we ate the cake at the party, and took home loot bags usually filled with little toys and candies from the dollar store. Cupcakes were really popular in the 90s, decorate your own style.

Kate,I love orange and chocolate too.We do have the Terry's Chocolate Orange(from the UK,I think) ,at least here in Ontario ,especially popular around Christmas - love smacking the foil wrapped ball on the table to break apart the segments, yumm! You guys are great - always so nice and positive - honourary Canadians, perhaps -at least our British cousins!

Hi Kate and Alex. I grew up in California in the 70s, so remember when Bubblicious was launched in 1977 and Hubba Bubba in 1979. And before that Sugarloaf soft bubble gum - which had so much sugar in it, the granules of sugar would crunch as you chewed it. To me, it always felt like these were an answer to Bazooka Joe bubble gum, and the crappy gum that came with Topp's baseball cards -- both of which were hard as rock and took a long time to soften in your mouth.

Taking your cake to go sounds like the weirdest concept ever. I'm Canadian and we always eat it at the party. We sing happy birthday with a candle in the cake and then we slice it up and eat it there. Also the dollarama candy is not something we normally see, it's kind of like a discount mars bar. Your pronunciation of 'Toronto' is adorable! People from the city typically say "Torono" when they pronounce it.

At 11:50 those 3 are from Dollarama, a Canadian dollar store. Non-name brand products there, specifically the food products, are usually products of turkey, Thailand, Vietnam, or China.

I'm from Nova Scotia and people (little old ladies in particular) have had fist fights over tea! Red Rose tea and King Cole are the main "traditional" Canadian tea brands and it's one or the other. I'm a Red Rose guy, but my partner is British and will only drink Tetley. Orange pekoe is a grade of tea. I believe only the top three leaves of the stem are called Orange pekoe, at least in Canada

I'm from Newfoundland Canada. We have a loot bag with treats and toys that are sent home with each kid at a party. However, the party usually has some playtime and snack time. In the snack time, we eat cake and other treats. We use the loot bag as a way of encouraging guests to leave because the kids can only get it on their way home.

King Cole tea MUST have milk and sugar for perfection :-) - as a child it was a staple. I introduced it to my very macho 7 year old grandson and he has to have his tea with Grandma, in his fancy tea pot. He's hooked, lol. King Cole is made in Sussex, New Brunswick at the Barbours plant . Barbours spices are amazing as well! Loved the video such fun to see you try things we have everyday.
