It’s much more likely he’s fed up with being hammered over the head with it every day by people. Hes said before that he does not align with the Israeli government, I would guess he hasn’t made a direct comment on it yet because it would cause even more division in the fan base that he simply does not want to cause.

@@QKvox oh dear..sacrifice a few of his fans. Meanwhile a gaza kid cant get out from mountains of debris and twisted metal . But the music must play on...

@@BertGraef He also could just be avoiding politics now for whatever reason, the only vaguely political things he’s commented on directly of recent are the climate crisis and ai. It’s not like Thom publicly denouncing the Israeli government would do anything anyway. As horrific as their war crimes are, they’re not listening to the many countries calling for peace, so what is the chance some musician from oxford will make any difference beyond calming down some of his fans and riling up others

Imagine being so self-righteous that you'll go to a concert, ruin it for everyone else, and think somehow yelling at a musician will have any effect on your cause other than to make people more annoying by it?

But if someone you consider a voice for the downtrodden, chooses to keep quiet over genocide, I feel you have the right to feel let down by that.

Well done Thom Yorke. PS. Someone needs to tell the heckler that three is no genocide in gaza.

There is a genocide in gaza. It's a fact, not a rumour.

I can imagine the meeting of the "Progressives for Hamas" in Fitzroy that afternoon: Hey, our inside operative at the Arts Centre has got us free tickets to Thom Yorke, all you need to do is enjoy the show, then bellow at him for not conforming to our groupthink, he will promptly get down on a knee and apologise for having a complex opinion. Any takers?

@@mattfontana How can he be right? Walking off the stage when confronted with questionable behaviour is cowardly. He should stand his ground, the only reason he's being heckled is because he rejected the bottleneck and has been too quiet about the elephant in the room, performing in Israel. Fans are rightfully upset.

I don't know how to feel about this. He has spoken about genocide before, so why not now? Then again, there's a time and a place... It's just that the silence, in his own words even, is deafening.

Thom has never said anything in support of Isreal. They did play in isreal but they explained that they didnt support the government but thought it was unfair to deprive the people there of the show.

Why do they have to have a position about anything political? They're musicians. It's weird that people actively try to bring politics into every aspect of their lives.
@FabianMacGintyONeill6 сағат бұрын
@@hadaskravitz2639 This is the thing about politics, whether you care about it or not, you're living in it every single day. Everything is political, the air you breath, the water you drink, the gigs you go to. You can't avoid it, so the only thing you can do for your own sake is get involved, because otherwise somebody else will be making your decisions for you.

One of the band members is married to an Israeli or is from Israel. Whatever. Radiohead have debuted a few times there and have ignored many boycotts in the past to play there.
