Bet you didn't see this coming! I sat down with Thomas DeLauer, past WTF subject, to try and have an intellectually honest conversation and "reach across the aisle" to try and continue the mission of promoting evidence-based fitness and nutrition. Let me know in the comments if you want to see more content like this and thanks to Thomas for having me on his channel.

I have to say, I know that some may not like me, may not agree with me, etc, but I sincerely am trying to look at every possible angle with nutrition. I appreciate Layne taking this step to interview with me so that we can be constructive as a whole. Oh and for the record, bananas aren’t bad. If I could delete that cringe worthy ad from peoples memory, I would be a happy man. I think having kids and focusing on family really has just helped me realize what I want out of life. Thanks to all that have enjoyed my content and given it a chance. And HUGE thanks to Layne for reaching across the aisle for this. So much respect.

We’re all figuring it out. You built a business and a great life for yourself saying some things that may not have been true. But the fact you’re on here with a man who’s given you slack for awhile says a lot about your character and that’s everything. I’m sure you regained a lot of maybe past lost respect today & I’ll be looking to you again for information. Thank you.

Both individuals have helped thousands of people restore their health. That is necessary when 47% of Americans have hypertension and 1 in 2 Americans have either prediabetes or diabetes. They both agree on CICO/energy balance for weight loss. But as we all know, many factors impact that equation and both of these men have helped people sustain a caloric deficit. Great to see a discussion to pick apart the biochem and details behind their philosophies.

@Thomas DeLauer I'm really proud of you man. Seriously, I started my fitness journey with you and have drifted away but this interview definitely changed my mind. I will start watching all your new stuff and give you a chance. You have helped a lot of people and with this new more open approach you will probably lose some of the extreme followers you had but in the long run I think it will work out for the better. Great interview and one thing I will say is you do come across as a genuinely nice guy and very courageous. You weren't really attacked here but I was impressed you had the video woth Derek from MPMD and have seem you comment on videos of people that don't necessarily agree with you and I have a lot of respect for you Thomas and how you handle yourself

I still believe Thomas has been a shill of the fitness industry, cherry picking studies, impressing his audience with jargon and abusing steroids making it seem like his physique was achieved by all the nutritional methods he promotes, but I know better now.

@@longdrums That is actually exactly why I stopped intermittent fasting myself. I lost pretty much all the fat I wanted with it but I definitely wasn't putting on as much muscle as I should have been with newbie gains considering the frequency I've been working out. Now two or three months since I've stopped fasting and just generally eating around maintenance I've noticed what I think to be a noticeable improvement in muscle gain. I will say for getting rid of fat fast it definitely worked for me, I lost about 75lbs over the course of about 8 months and now sitting around 145lbs at 5'9 and focusing on building more muscle.

This is one of my favorite fitness interviews. DeLauer get all the credit in the world for his recent pragmatism. Layne has one of the best fitness channels out there no question.

Thomas is a stand up individual I don’t agree with him sometimes regarding low carb diet model but overall he is more than willing it seems to talk civilly with other channels and not hold any grudge or drama and no one can deny the guy is a hard worker he puts out content on a steady basis for years now and almost all of it is focused on trying to help others
