T1E2H3 Rides the Isle of Man Steam Railway (and visits the Real STS)

Here is the final steam trip I took in my summer 2024 UK vacation! I spent two nights at the Isle of Man and rode the famous steam railway. I unfortunately didn't go the whole route (Port Erin to Douglas) as I was staying by the airport and was still recovering from illness. While I wasn't able to see much as I didn't have a car, I did see the station where the little sparkle guy lives. Fun fact, The Isle of Man's diocese in the church is called the 'Diocese of Sodor and Man', which is where Awdry got the name for the island of Sodor from!

5:46 coincidentally there is a place in Australia called Maitland where they hold something called steamfest every year around April, I would know, I live about 10 ,minutes from there and I get to see the steam engines every year

Hey there I actually live on the Isle of Man and in regards to your question about the Rev W Awdry’s visiting the Island I can tell you that he did with his brother in 1950 and he wrote how got his inspection for his stories in his book called The Island of Sodor: Its People, History and Railways also the map of Sodor you were looking at in Castletown station belongs to me and my dad we lent it to the railway after we had used it for our model railway display celebrating our 150th anniversary of the steam railway last year hope this information was helpful to you and thanks for sharing your visit to our island 👍❤️🇮🇲

I like the slanted cylinders on these Isle of Man engines, they look like a mini version of the Metropolitan A Class or the JNR Class 5500, all three were built by Beyer Peacock.

What's your opinion on the TV show shining Time Station

I haven’t seen many episodes especially as it was finished before I was born. I think on its own, as a non-canonical way to bring Thomas the US, it works brilliantly. I just think it belongs as a separate entity to Thomas and not in TATMR. I wouldn’t mind Mr Conductor being on Sodor as a nod to the show but the magic element completely derails the movie.
