I've recently purchased a Canon 80D, my first DSLR. It is, by far, one of my favorite items that I own. I am interested in photography, so I wanted to learn more about it. Since I travel an average of 400 miles daily across the country driving a truck, I often wonder how I could fit photography into my busy schedule. After seeing many beautiful places at highway speeds, I wish nothing more than to freeze those high speed moments. However, for safety reasons, I can't just stop in the road to take pictures. So, after watching this video, you've given me motivation to look a little closer, and little deeper, into the areas where I can park for those beautifully rich colors like that of those of the frosty leaves. Thank you for inspiring me to get out and look. Have a great day.

You are one of the few people who can fill 15min of video with interesting content. Lots of great shots but I particularly like the frosty brown leaves and the frosty arid bush. I've seen similar bushes here in Wisconsin. They are so elegant, and with frost, wow!

It's great that Squarespace sponsor so many creatives! They really care and their service looks awesome!
@ThomasHeatonPhoto8 жыл бұрын
They do sponsor a lot of creatives, which is great as it can be very difficult to earn a living doing what you love. We have been talking for a while and they're very supportive.
@BrettBodkinsPhotography7 жыл бұрын
One thing I find interesting on this (although I'm totally supportive of people like yourselves getting sponsorships so you can continue inspiring the rest of us) is that it really goes to show where photography is as a business when the ads are geared toward selling gear and services to other photographers. There really isn't much of a push to attempt to sell anything toward a more mainstream audience anymore. It's about selling workshops, commissions on selling gear, views by other creatives, etc. Just an interesting state of affairs these days! I hope that your success online is translating into success on the prints and art gallery side and that one day we'll all be seeing Thomas Heaton galleries everywhere as you clearly deserve that! Definitely need to diversify our revenue streams into the future so that if the KZbin thing dries up one day you'll still be able to continue doing what you love (not that this business model will ever dry up, but I'm just saying)....

This video seriously made me wish I could live somewhere with an actual winter! The south-east US doesn't exactly lend itself to beautiful frosty mornings. I didn't mind the sponsor one bit, and I think you did a very good job of making it as non-abrasive as possible - of course there will be people who are still bothered by it, but I'm very happy for you to have a sponsor for your videos. You deserve the extra bit of income, and if it helps fund more lovely videos like this one, I'm all for it. Your videos never fail to be incredibly inspirational, and I'm always eager to get out and shoot after watching one. Thanks for all the free, fantastic content. :)

Thanks a lot, winter is great, but it is also very long and this lovely frosty morning happens about once a year so I wouldn't worry too much. In turn, I wish we had the beautiful sunshine you must get. I'm glad you don't mind the sponsor, I expect most people won't mind, especially as I switched off the adds. Thanks for watching!

Thomas, one of the reasons I feel that I'm being pulled into landscape photography more and more (willingly I may add), is that it draws you into nature in a lot more detail. It makes you think about what you're seeing which means more time to consider your shot. Before, when hiking, I'd walk past a lovely scene (without a camera) and say that's pretty, but, with camera in hand, I look much deeper into nature. It draws me in and gives me so much pleasure. Your video confirms yet again, that there is so much more to landscape photography. For me, it gives me get a better perspective on life and that it is the simple things that can also make it pleasurable. I'm loving your work Thomas and by the way, you're invited to Australia mate.

Thomas, I've been watching you from not more than a month or two. Normally I listen to your podcasts while working or keeping a small window peeking every now and then on one of my screens. I really have to say you are inspiring and lighting the sparkle for shooting and wandering in the nature back in me. Really you should continue to do what you do and bring your amazing art, this amazing art, to the people on weekly basis. Sincerely, Mitko

I'd watched this when it was released and this was a re-visit. I was watching it through and not skipping to get to the "tree shot" at the end. When it came up at the end of the shoot, it literally took my breath away! I've been shooting a fair amount myself, and have been working a little more on my technical chops. Seeing this again really inspires me to dig in harder and spend more time out in the wild. Thanks Thomas!

You've made awesome videos, stunning videos, videos with the wow factor, breathtaking videos, but without doubt this was one of your most beautiful videos. All photographers are influenced by other photographers, no matter how advanced they are and that's how we grow in our art, I think I can see some influences of Mr Horne in this one. Which can only be a compliment to you both. One of your best and congratulations on the Square Space sponsorship.

First of all, I really enjoy your videos. But, this is a perfect example of why being guided by your passion is a must in every type of art. I absolutely enjoyed this video and your natural way of taking photos, how you capture the whole process as well, but somehow, not as much as your previous ones. Well, I absolutely respect the effort. By the way, this is so normal and I totally understand that you have to do some sponsored content as a freelance photographer. Anyway... great job man. Just keep up the great work and your inspiration among the ones who need. Cheers!

I really enjoyed this video as you did something I really struggle with, which is concentrating on the 'smaller landscapes' as I call them. I so often look for the big vista, the big picture, the obvious composition. Here though your simple pictures of leaves and branches showed that there is so much you can do in even the most ordinary of landscapes. More of this please. Thanks
