I get it when it comes to Finnish sound of metal bands. They're often more melodic, one way or another. And I love Finnish melancholics. When I was younger I thought metal could be great for when you're angry. At that time I never could've imagined describing this as beautiful. And 'time' is even more than beautiful. I felt that one.

Yours is the best reaction to this song I've seen. Your reactions pretty much matched my reactions when I first heard this metal masterpiece. You had the best reaction when Jari used his screams to jump right into the 4th movement after that dreamy "acoustic" movement. I'm always blown away by how impactful that moment is. I know a lot of people who don't like metal music because of the use of screams/growls, but like myself, I'm sure they'd come to realize just how much screaming vocals can elevate songs. I'm not really able to explain it properly, but when you get it, you get it.
@ThomFoolery13 жыл бұрын

Premise: the whole song is a masterpiece. Period. But the transition at 16:12 is what gives me chills and prickly goosebumps every time. Before it it's like: "listen to this, it's epic, it's majestic, it's ready to perfectly close the song" A second later: palm mute the guitars, double (or quadruple) the amount of pedal, hit like a possessed blacksmith on those drums, and make it the base for a new verse that THEN leads into the ending of the song. It's incredible.

Great that you found your way to Wintersun! Awesome band! Two of my biggest favorites are Nightwish and Wintersun. Both very creative and skilled bands. And skilled musicians. Jari Mäenpää, a blond guitarist-singer, means the same to this band as Tuomas Holopainen to Nightwish. Founder, composer, lyricist, the soul behind everything. There are many songwriters, good songwriters. But I call these two men composers. They are not just songwriters ... Both can also do really good lyrics. And both master their instruments really well. The band released their second album "Time 1" in October 2012. It contains only 5 songs, three of which were made into such a "live rehearsal video". I recommend looking at those other two as well. Maybe first the title track "Time". As many have already asked for.

Yeah I like this epic pirate song a lot. So much variation and small details. My fav part is where they go into layered singing, because that is so unexpected in music like this. And it's very good too. Just a wonderful moment. Also, I really like Jari's singing, and that's why I have difficulties to pick which is my fav, this or "Loneliness," for the latter one is quite emotional.

Thanx for the reaction. Wintersun is one of my favourite bands and Kai is a god! But I suggest you listen to another band, not same genre of metal but to step it up even a few steps if thats possible on the technical level. The band I am talking about is Meshugga and the kind of created a genre thats called technical metal. The drummer is Tomas Haake and is the drummer with 5 brains. One for left foot, one for right, one for left arm and one for right and one brain to connect it all together. He plays polyrhythms a lot and what he does with his feet is difficult to do with your arms. As I said.. a little different version of metal then this. There is many songs.. bleed is one of their big once but if you react to them pic a live (often drum cams) version as their videos is soooo intense and I think it.. it makes you loose focus on the music. But again.. just love Wintersun!

Thomas, go back to yer pre-school days.... remember that kid... that one kid... who would take a box of crayons and madly scribble-color and fill up the entire page with a jagged, fire-breathing dragon in a field of flaming poppies and a volcano exploding in the background and make it all look like Van Gogh had a Francis Bacon-moment? Yeah, that kid.... Well, apparently he's a metal musician. Good Lord, what a composition. I know the singer does the songwriting here.... but ... did he write the drum part too? Because that is unEarthly. Oh, and my apologies for the nearly one year old reaction-to-your-reaction... I'm having a Wintersun Marathon Night, since I can't get back to sleep. .. And now, for the Reaction : : a) The Dreaded BlueScreen shirt... a perfect choice. b) Metal must be in our DNA, because in the first 30 seconds, you grew Jari's nose, on yer own face.... dude, you coulda been his brother. c) you were gasping for breath by the end of the first moment.... pace yourself... this is Finnish Metal. d) 7 min in : "I feel like there's themes developing..." .... my friend, I think there were entire languages and mathematical constructs developing. There are no words. e) during the slower acoustic part... the look on our face "Alright, something I can finally take apart in real time and..." Jari sings "My dreams wither in fragments of time" .... and your face melts when they do the Tim Burton/Danny Elfman SnowGlobe/Psycho-harmony-key-change f) THEN the insane laughter kicks in as they shift right back into Metal Madness. And it continues... You should get overtime pay for this.

Hey Randall! This is an amazing comment, thank you! :D I know what you mean, Jari probably was that kid making crazy doodles and daydreaming of grand creations. Wintersun has been one of my favourite discoveries from this channel. The time and detail that has gone into each song is so apparent and it evokes so many damn emotions while still being just a technical draw-dropping masterclass. It's almost like watching top athletes performing, it's so other worldly. I've been painfully resisting 'The Forest Seasons' for a reaction, I'll have to do that soon. Glad you enjoyed this one mate!
