The deadlift at SMOE is going to play out the same way as the deadlift at the Arnold. Thor pullls 1000 lbs one month before the show, then pulls the same weight in the show, nobody else can pull 1000 lbs. Thor will not go any higher because he simply doesn't need to, nobody can challenge him on the event, he's going to win the deadlift.

I think Trey and Maxime can lift the 600lb stone but I'm not if either of them are going to be in top form. I think Tom did well at the RAH. He is showing that, even if he's not at 100% he is still consistently hitting podiums which is what he needs to do if he wants to go down as one of the goats.

I don't think that's what they're implying. Some fans are, sure, but not these guys. Tom said himself he's barely gotten to train because of his WSM commitments and building his brand, so he's not at his best right now. And getting 2nd place without much training IS incredible, but everyone is hoping he's at his beat for SMOE so we have the best competition possible.

Nobody was expecting Tom to win at the Albert Hall. Go check back the history of WSM winners and how thry got on in thier next comp. Even Hooper who somehow manages to keep close to peak all year round only managed 3rd place. Winning WSM comes with alot of commitments to the sport

Thor stance is more narrow than before, i think he talked about that on his channel. He is basically learning a new way to deadlift with that adjustment that he thinks its going to make him break the 501 by a bigger margin than people think.

Thor at the 2020 Arnold almost broke the record set earlier that day on the Rogue max dumbbell with a near miss at 330 lb. I believe he could have broken that record on a second attempt but he had already won the contest and declined another try. However, I still think Thor could be successful in the event in the future by training with arm where the injury didn’t occur.

Yes he will be the only 1000 lb deadlifter. All other athletes will be in the 900s, 800s, even 700s(yikes). We might be going back to 2004 with 770 lb deadlifts.

Its an interesting dynamic. Brian Shaw and some fans want it to be ever increasingly heavier, with heavier lifts but if the strongmen are happy with 3-4-5th places and can still win, why would they waste their energy. This isn't a case of 'build it and they will come', its a case of build it but I won't participte on your terms and just do what I need to to win.

Thor won't win Shaw classic. He is no where near ready. He will peak in another year. For Shaw deadlift, he still has to peak with supplements. That's good for an easy 40-50lbs. He has 44lbs to gain to get to the 460lbs he was - when he did 501kg. Again, he will peak in one year. And he will be unbeatable.
