Thor embarks on a journey unlike anything he's ever faced -- a quest for inner peace. However, his retirement gets interrupted by Gorr the God Butcher, a galactic killer who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who -- to his surprise -- inexplicably wields his magical hammer. Together, they set out on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher's vengeance.

You are exactly right, it's a family movie! I went with my nephew & son & we had a blast! My son grabbed my hand & shook it so hard during the scene where the kids got Thor power! He felt so empowered and jazzed by that scene! What a moment! Love you guys, you totally get it

I'm so glad to see you and your son had a good time! And listen, when I saw that scene I was HYPED. I swear I felt like a little kid again. Some people don't seem to understand that these movies are made for families. So of course they're not going to be dark and serious all the time. And frankly its hilarious watching all the comic book bros whine about children just having a good time; like I assure you no one cares this much as you do lol. We're just here to have fun, and if you can't get past that then it's your loss 🤷🏽‍♀️

Making Thor a dad that has finally come to terms with all the loss he's experienced was great. That's actually an interesting place for him moving forward. How do you make an all powerful god interesting? Break him by having him lose everyone he ever loved, teach him to move beyond his grief, and then give him more people to love and teach. The CGI helmets were really weird and the movie was super fast but overall I enjoyed it. I would've liked a few extra minutes with Gorr and Jane separetly near the beginning just to establish their arcs and make use of some great performers, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few good deleted scenes on the home release.

One of the things I appreciated the most about this film is that we got such a great send-off for Jane. If this is the last time we see her character, it is so much more of a satisfying ending compared to just being put on a bus after the second Thor movie. And Natalie Portman absolutely killed it.

How is this a great send-off for her character when she spent most times in the movie being a person who hasn't moved on from Thor? Sure, Thor also hasn't moved on from her, but he's a god. Jane is a human. Beside, Mjolnir only accelerated her decaying state of health. How is that a great send-off for her?

I'll just say that I enjoyed this one immensely - it was just what I needed when I needed it. Also, my son absolutely adored this film...I watched him have a ball watching this in the theater today, and that's the only critique I really need. Another solid addition to the MCU. That said, I did feel that much of the GotG's scenes felt a little awkward, but really that's a nitpick and not much of a harsh comment on the film as a whole.

That is definitely the route I hope Marvel chooses to take when handling Thor’s death. That is, that he dies in battle, perhaps to save his daughter, and that he is reunited with his loved ones in Valhalla, and with Jane last. Their on-screen romance is my favorite one in the MCU, and I agree that it would likely be one of the most impactful scenes of the franchise.

Taika has said there is a 4 hour cut which channels Monty Python. I felt there was a lot of things that could've been fleshed out more which I'm hoping a longer cut would show e.g. Janes transition to Mighty Thor etc. Still its a great movie! #2 for me in the Thor series (Ragnarok still #1 for now but more viewings may change that) As for Thor's end, it needs to pull some serious heartstrings like Wolverines death in Logan. When X23 turns the cross to an X still gets me every time. So to see Thor sacrifice it all and enter Valhalla with everyone waiting for him is what I want to see. Also +1000000 pts for the MCU picking up R** M*****F****** K*** as H*******!

Taika's Thor is becoming more and more like Langridge and Samnee's Thor: The Mighty Avenger Hector, Tessa's accent is AWFUL. It sounds like someone pretending to be a cockney who is pretending to be posh. Its several layers of bizarre. Sincerely, a British person

Saw this movie last night, with high hopes going in because the God Butcher arc of Thor: God of Thunder is THE best Thor story ever written. The film...feels like two movies smushed together. On the one hand, you have the dark and compelling story of The God Butcher, a story of trauma and eldritch horror to make you question everything you ever believed about why mortals look to the sky in our hour of need. Then on the other hand, you have a road trip rom-com about an odd couple getting the band back together for one last job. The tonal shift between these two films is JARRING. And neither really gets the development it deserves, so neither has the impact it could have had if either had been the sole focus of the film. Are there fun moments? Absolutely. Do most of the jokes land? Eh. Does a traumatized father seeking bloody vengeance across the cosmos with an eldritch abomination as his weapon belong in a rom-com? HELL NO. Plus the fact that all of this god-lore has NEVER been previously established in the MCU, and directly COUNTERS established continuity (Odin straight-up says "We are not gods" in Thor 2).

1.1K Thumbs Up + Mine! 👍 I'm the seventh person to like your pinned comment too! 👍. Thanks for the fun, digital video recording! 🎬 ✌️😎🖖 I really enjoyed the movie! I had no concessions, so though my stomach rumbled and my mouth was dry, it meant that I didn't need to leave for the men's restroom! Also, I didn't doze off, or have one eye shut, so I did not miss anything by that way. "Lightyear", having more scenes during the end credits, than this movie has, made me wonder why this movie didn't have as many. I would rather see the butt of, Jane Foster, than the butt of, Thor. I dislike the words, "shit" & "shitty", that I only use them when quoting. I dislike alcoholic beverages, tobacco and drug usage, bad grammar, and cruelty to animals. My usual dislikes in movies. But other than that, I like the movie a lot! 🎊🎉

I finally got around to seeing the movie. Honestly, it was a little too jokesy for me (and this is coming from someone who LOVED Ragnarok). I loved Christian Bale's performance, but I really wish he presented more of an immediate threat. Hela crushed Mjioniir, killed several previously established side characters (including an entire army of Asgardians), and took Thor's eye. Gorr killed a bunch of unknown off-screen gods, and retreats from his first fight with Thor because he saw he was out-numbered. He was visually scary, sure, but there was no real feeling of danger to over-come. Even Korgs death ended up being a psych-out moment and a joke. As much as I (and probably most everyone) love Korg, that would have been a great way to establish the seriousness of Gorr on a very personal level.

At the end of the day the most important thing is if you're ultimately entertained. You can have a movie that hits all the beats but as a whole it leaves you empty. I'll take this movie anytime than a Man of Steel or The Batman.

I only saw it today, so I’m watching this video late haha I enjoyed every minute of it and felt SO sad to see so many “this movie sucked, it’s so bad, it’s so cringe” takes online… people bashing the kids fighting filled me with actual rage rs because it was such a heart warming, chill giving moment to me that I can’t process people hating it I’m not a thor fan, I’m a mcu fan but I absolutely enjoyed it..

This movie was a parody of Ragnarok. It didnt take itself serious. Gorr and Jane were only the characters I liked in this movie. Thor was a buffoon, Valkyrie looked uninterested, and Korg wouldn't shut up. The Goats were funny.

I feel the same way about this movie the way i felt about guardians 2.....it was an emotional spectacle and contained solo movie....I think Marvel is getting more hate than it deserves And I've moved over the fact why this or that didn't happen in Infinity war and endgame.....they can never expand on the Marvel lore that way

Wish we saw Gorr butcher more than 1 God. Woulda been cool to see Gorr go where Zeus was and started killing Gods to show how powerful he is and then show Thor and co. steal the thunderbolt and try to escape amid the chaos.

I thought the premise was good, but it tried to be Ragnarok all over again....and it fell flat. 3rd act was definitely the highlight and how naturally Jane took up being Mighty Thor was cool (really loved that they used Mjolnir being split apart as a weapon feature!) but I don't feel Gorr was used as effectively as he could have been. The kids being granted the power of Thor was excellent in showing how seriously he takes his essential power. First 30 minutes, jokes felt forced and were throw-aways (case in point, the GotG scenes were really pointless; the story would have flowed just as well, without them in it....and we'd have a lot less "shitty" phrases being bandied about.

The movie is weird. It felt janky and wobbly. Tonally, it was inconsistent with what message they were trying to deliver. Structurally, it was still enjoyable to watch in spite of its odd pacing. Personally, it didn't leave any emotional impact on me at all. It was just a movie that happened, a story unraveled, but there's nothing memorable. Well, Thor's pecs kind of are, but y'know what I'm saying.
