Went here often when I was a youngster. Also went to look at a geological feature, when I was a Geology student at Liverpool. The stone had, now I imagine not there - near the top of the rock, an example of ‘slickenside’. A smooth rock feature (I seem to remember but I might be wrong?) that was crystalline, caused by the rocks slipping through frictional movement.

I know all names have meaning. Mine means "thors stone". I wonder what kind of theological implications that has, if any?

Rubbish! Absolute rubbish. Ton ,means farm. The people who settled in the Wirral did so with permission. They where Norse and did not come as ( Vikings ).
