This is BY FAR one of Thoorin's best videos and I'm going to start linking this in every guide of mine. People struggle to understand that you don't need to copy everything. This goes for everything like builds, champion pools or even stuff outside of League. There are always going to be stronger and FOTM champions but that doesn't mean you can do your own thing For me personally, I consider myself weak in regards to mechanical skill, so I've always stuck to easier champions (Xerath, Viktor probably being the hardest I play). I'll never be that guy that is a god on Lee Sin, but I can live with it :P

Thooorin Respect for this content. Just letting you know that I am getting into CS:GO and even dipping my toe into some BW thanks to you. You should set up a patreon. In the last few weeks you have put out over 10 hours of content. Considering I am about to pay £10 ish to go see the new Hobbit tonight a few pounds a month is the least I could do. Would love to support. Could pay for the graphics and editing for SI etc. (though at this point the raw nature of the videos is charming in its own right. Great advice for anyone who wants to get better at any competitive game, whether you plan to go big or not. I also want to add that, in my time with competitive FPS, RTS, and fighters, I have deliberately practised styles that were not my own. Not so that I can apply this style in future matches, but so that I can better understand how it works, where it is weak, and why I am losing to it.

What I remember most from the Flame interview was this exact thought. Flame stated that Blaze playing their own style lead them on that undefeated streak and that trying to copy other styles lead to their demise in subsequent seasons. He also stated that most teams in Korea had the same sentiment, that playing your style would lead to victory.

I have to say this particular video is making me a subscriber. Thoorin gives out well detailed points and makes you think. I do have to wonder if your thoughts about sticking to your own personal style applies to certain champion builds. I'm not talking about unorthodox ones like Ryan Choi's x99 Doran's Blade on Rengar,but more like taking advice from guides to alter your build in game if a particular path isn't working.

I would like your opinion on the comparison of ScreaM and Insec, They both have their own distinctive styles in both respective games are far from Meta, but both have the same issues with consistency at the highest level due to the risk their style represents. Would you say that these styles are limited in the sense their seems to be a point that you reach with pure mechanical skill cannot carry you past the players at the top of the meta

I believe you are incorrect about the increased rocket damage in QL: direct damage is still 100, but the radius was decreased and speed increased. So I would disagree that it was a better defensive weapon than it was in Q3. I believe the splash damage was changed not long ago, but that is long after the IEM days when Rapha was the best player.

Crizzl I have played CSGO since 2010 but quake has always appealed to me since I watched rapha vs cooller at IEM with rapha commentating over the replay and explaining what he was doing, an amazing amount of individual skill and intelligence required to play at a high level, only just started considering starting to learn it myself though.

No, as optimistic as this sounds it just isn't true about what is successful in the Gaming world What works consistently is when You play and exploit the meta for your gain There's a reason metas exist, it's because they're proven in scientific process to be *the* *best* method for its current time And if you're not good enough to do so, then rip wait for a new meta and hope you can exploit that one instead Because in the words of Dopa, who has achieved rank #1 in KR and Chinese LoL servers, who claims that only Faker is his equal: "Gaming is mostly about talent over effort" Which is the only irrefutable truth, no matter how much effort you put into practice, you can and will still lose vs people who don't try but are just naturally talented I mean think about it, if everyone could git gud with practice, then lower Elo brackets would be far less populated Tl;Dr Natural Talent + Meta > Practice with unique play styles
