The demon of the shy is perfection. He strives for perfection in every game, and when you are not perfectly focused as a player, that can hit back, since you should try to strive for less. If you still strive for playing perfect when you are not capable of processing if its the best play, sometimes theshy fails miserably, cause the perfect decision in everything aplies onto the most risky moments aswell, and so then its when, since commiting to that strive, he doesn't think twice and as imperfect as he is, loses. He still doesn't care cause striving for perfection means to not be emotional about it. I hope someone understands me, I really think that is his psicological problem.

Another detail, I don’t remember the team he was fighting against (it was this summer season) but he picked Ornn. He destroyed the opponent top laner, getting solo kills, playing like Ornn was a fricking skirmisher/juggernaut and carry the whole game. When ask, he said that was the first time he picked Ornn in a pro game lol.

Imagine him on a team like DRX or T1 where the team would massively utilize his mechanics the right way. LPL is gonna keep him raw and limited.

TheShy is an extreme outlier of a pro player, in any role of any game. The man doesn’t show his nerves in some of the most important games because he just doesn’t seem to care about winning as much as having fun playing. This mentality combined with his top-notch game knowledge redefined the LPL top lane meta completely. But when he is in Mr. Hyde’s mode, he plays so selfishly that it’s almost disrespectful to his team.

This hit or miss thing is pretty common. Players like Bwipo, Hyli, Blaber, Jiizuke etc. all are like that, it's because they play in one mode- full aggro. I think players like that are usually overrated by the community, because carry/highlight moments tend to absolve them after their woeful performances. That's why I wouldn't put Theshy as the greatest top of all time, he is just unable to play smart.

The fact that you had to qualify your statement of his skill snd efficacy with, "when he's on form" speaks to how disingenuous it is to call him one of the best players ever. To be the best, you need consistency alongside everything else. Look objectively at TheShy's career on IG. He missed an entire split during 2018 and he has been spotty for all of 2020, meaning 3/6 splits have had him absent or inconsistent. How is that the resume of one of the greats?

This is why I rate Smeb as the GOAT top laner; his lows were nowhere near as bad the theshy's plus he was a much better tank/utility player when he needed to. Listen, I think Tarzan had the highest peak as a jungler ever, but he's not greater than Score or Peanut. Also, the speculation that theshy might be the GOAT outright seems bizarre quite frankly. He's won way less than the actual GOAT, and when he did, it wasn't even clear he was the best player on his team though you certainly can make the case he was (unlike Faker who was not only the best player in the world in 2013, 2015 and 2016, but was clearly the best player on his team). Theshy's champion pool is massively inferior to that of Faker, who has been awesome on Melee AD assassins, AP melee assassins, AP ranged assassins, ADCs (corki), AP control mages, tanks, AP poke champions and bruisers. Faker's peak covers everything from Riven to Zed to Lulu to Azir to Nidalee to Galio (and I am leaving NUMEROUS other champions). You can't fuck with that and quite frankly no other god tier mid laner in history has the kind of resume Faker does on so many champions. Plus, and this is the killer, Faker was so impossibly good that in 2015, he didn't even need to be played to. His jungler hard camped MaRin's lane, a very talented but limited top laner, while Faker dominated his opponent solo. I can't think of a single other team in history where the best player in the world isn't played to because they could afford not to due of how superlative their best player was compared his peers. It might sound nonintellectual to claim there is no debate to be had as to who the GOAT is, because in most sports there are cases to be made for quite a few players usually, but in League of Legends there really is none. Faker has the widest effective champion pool in the history of League, he is the greatest winner both internationally and domestically, was the best player on his team and in the world for the vast majority of the trophies he's earned, he's been competing at the very top for longer than any other player I can think of, has made the greatest play in League of Legends history, he's the most clutch player of all time and has had inferior teammates to that of so-called pretenders to the title of GOAT for most of his career. Plus Faker does not have a "Mr Hyde" dark side. What kind of case is there to be made for theshy? His peak? I don't think it's clear cut his was better than Faker's, but Faker brings much more to the table than theshy does, and in fact brings more to the table than any other player there ever will be. Forget it guys, it's hard enough for transcendent players to win a single world championship; no other player will ever win 3, never mind winning 3 while being the UNDISPUTED best player on his team.
