As someone who only consumes 1 esport, CS:GO and even that is dwindling with work and it being online and basically meaning fuck all (Ignorant opinion, I know), I gave your LOL content a shot and I was pleasantly surprised to find so many cool people IWD, Kelsey Moser, the G2 players youve done a lot of content with across many of your shows, Locodoco, Ashley Kang, Monty and the countless players and LOL talent who are very knowledgable in their field. I found that while a lot of the topics are in game specific there are some that apply to esports in general or the professional gaming side or the BTS side etc. With a show like Listen Loco, I went there to listen to you and Loco throw banter back and forth with semi serious discussions sandwiched in-between, with shows with Kelsey and Veteran I knew that the discussion would be super deep and analytical where knowledge of the game is needed to understand it, which I dont really care to learn because LOL just doesnt appeal to me to that level. I will ALWAYS champion people like you and Richard (You two are a fucking package deal because this industry is just full of back peddling, spineless wankers looking out for #1 regardless if everyone and everything fucking burns so I had to mention Rich) because TIME AND TIME AGAIN you have shown that you stick to your code. sometimes to a fault where it might hurt you in the face of public opinion, your morals are not sold to the highest bidder and you will always fight for the betterment of esports by reporting and making content about the villainous scum lurking behind PR statement be it Nikolaj Nyholm, RIOT, ESL at times, the Brazilians and many more. I really enjoyed elitists united and have been a subscriber to Veteran's twitch for a while because I enjoyed his league analysis. But his behaviour has soured his reputation in my mind because e-drama is the must uninteresting thing to me but Veteran seems to love it. There are a few things that Thorin said that I can corroborate. First of all, the Elitist on the Line incident about Monte. Veteran spoke about that on stream one time and was absolutely revelling in how he dared to say it on a live setting. It wasn't a mistake, he was intentionally trying to trigger Thorin and it was hilarious to him. Veteran also said on after that he would love to talk about Jordan Peterson and shit on him in front of Thorin to see his reaction because he knows that Thorin is a fan of JBP. Secondly, the Kayys drama. As I said earlier, I started watching solo Veteran content (first time I did of any of Thorin's protoge co-hosts) because I like how he broke down the game. He used to banter about Locodoco and I thought it was fine because it seemed harmless because they were content creators of roughly equal size. Veteran would also dodge bait that LS would throw at him and, at the time, I thought it was commendable that he was avoiding drama. Now I believe that the reason is because he wouldn't have won. That is why I think he was ready to shit on Kayys at every opportunity, because here was an American analyst, who has a history of saying provocative things, with little fan following. I think it was an easy way for veteran to feel superior over someone, and I feel that is a consistent pattern with his behaviour. I don't want to paint the picture that he is an unhinged, friendless weirdo. Some of it was good bants, but a some of it crossed the line for me - it also can't help that a lot of his followers (in chat and discord) would enthusiastically encourage this behaviour. On discord and on stream, Veteran would post kayys' tweets and go crazy over how stupid they are and then post his snarky replies on twitter and encourage people to like and retweet them. It was this pattern of behaviour that didn't sit right with me. Everyone who posts in that discord was loving it apart from me. I will say that no one was really happy with Kayys getting fired in that server but they weren't too upset about it either.
@Rommel124 жыл бұрын
I think the biggest issue is that Veteran thinks he's way smarter than he actually is, and because he has a few fans they merely encourage this. While I could be wrong, I doubt he has any form of academic credentials worth anything, nor has ever had anything published, so I merely find it rather amusing that he thinks he'd be able to actually trash the very vast majority of what JBP says, as it's based in literally hundreds of peer reviewed papers. I only found out about Veteran through EU and while I have watched some of his solo content on Twitch he always comes across very smug and full of himself, so none of this really surprises me. Just glad I never subbed to him.

@@Rommel12 Dude I can find you like hundreds of quotes from JBP which are all batshit insane and do not come from any peer-reviewed study. Guy is the last person you should reference as a paragon of science. Heck, he's even proved himself completely worthless in any debate because he can't read up on shit, so when confronted he completely falters. The Zizek one was downright pathetic and embarrassing. Imagine screeching about "cultural marxism" for years, then follow it up with something like that? He hadn't even read any of Marx's theory before he was set to debate fucking communism. @Rommel124 жыл бұрын
I don't think so because even while he was doing Locodoco he seemed somewhat lacking in motivation to follow league in general outside of LCS and was often carried by the guests or Thorin when it came to anything that didn't directly involve LCS. I think his recent decision to drop out of the LoL scene completely is merely a logical progression of him losing motivation a long time ago.

I would love to see some kind of show about LEC with iwilldominate and Thorin. From what I've seen DOM is great at hosting the shows and asking the right questions (sometimes he's making even better job than Thorin himself in that particular aspect). And the most important thing is DOM actually watches and seems to be genuinely interested in the European scene, unlike many other personalities who claim they watch other leagues (beside NA) and later on during the discussion it becomes quite apparent that in fact they are not really that invested in those leagues around the world. The only thing lacking would be the knowledge about ERLs, but maybe in this area they could invite Peter Dun or Kelsey (if she still pays attention to ERLs) from time to time, in order to discuss those regional leagues.

I don't want say it but.. "Knew it all along lol" Called out his bullshit with all the condescending behaviour he had towards NA (LUL) and not wanting to even entertain any NA team/opinion or even a JOB OFFER. He also predict that SKT won't make it out of groups in 2019 so there's that lol.

I feel for Thorin on the political front, I'm a member of the Labour party (the UK's mainstream left wing party) and I've spent far too much time in the last few years having to defend people like Trump and Boris Johnson, despite thinking they are horrendous human beings who don't belong in government, because people have lost their fucking minds and just make shit up in their heads about right-wing politicians and political commentators. There is enough to criticise about such figures without needing to lie or spin things to be the worst interpretation possible.

Yeh that's just snake like behavior.. Imagine a guy helps you out with a show.. offers money to you (even tho he isn't a friend).. and this snake runs to twitter and starts leaking DM's after a disagreement. Oh and the thing about veteran acting like he has privileged information is spot on
@xWhponderx4 жыл бұрын
Gonna be honest I usually don't agree with Thorin on political issues and this is one that bleeds into that domain, but I am pleasantly surprised. I was expecting the Kayys tweet to be super bad based on how it was being talked about, and then I actually looked at it. His tweet starts on the right side, correctly acknowledging an issue, and then in a pretty respectable manner points out that violence is still wrong. Like there are actually posts that attempt to delegitimize protests and whatnot, this is simply saying "yeah but don't do it violently." Even in the comments he says his only quarrel is with violent protesting, but supports general protesting. What's controversial about that?
@Elena-gj6ow4 жыл бұрын
There have been so fucking many Kayys tweets though, ofc he isn't gonna bring up the worst ones. And you need to remember that in the context of Kayys having been openly racist a bunch of fucking times, what do you think his motivation for that tweet was? Would he tweet similar shit to the covid protesters with semi-automatics? Ofc not. Pretending this was pure-minded with good intentions is incredibly disingenuous.
@xWhponderx4 жыл бұрын
@@Elena-gj6ow What other tweets? where else has he been openly racist? Genuinely asking, I don't know the full storyline here, but the tweet in of itself was not bad at all. That's all I was trying to articulate. And even if we give you the benefit of the doubt here (not saying you are lying, again I genuinely don't know) I'm not sure how past statements could change the meaning of this one. So let's say Kayys is racist. That does not inherently make his tweet racist. If you want to argue that Kayys may have a biased perspective in regards to race matters for being white and whatnot that is fair, but nothing he is doing (in this tweet) is racist. Another question. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that "violent protesting bad" is not controversial. If you think his tweet was racist, how would you prefer him share this sentiment differently? Just because he calls out one form of violent protest as bad does not mean he has to call out each instance of it. And to be fair, although the anit-lockdown protests were pretty dumb, I don't think people were burning shit down.

@@Elena-gj6ow Engaging with perceived intent rather than the actual content of someone's statement isn't a particularly useful (or genuine) way to read it - doubly so when the launching-pad for this guy getting pilloried was the statement in question. OP is right that the statement ought not to be controversial, whether or not you already regard the guy as being a racist. Just a friendly reminder that bigotry can be any line of thinking that hates or dismisses a person and the content of their character or their actions based solely on a perceived trait they possess or lack.

That’s what I spotted from seeing you over a long span. That’s why shoulder by shoulder to me, is so important in one way or another. This is why I felt bad, when you kind of was “excusing” yourself for your “vanity project”, whereas that was patronage. Your real value exceed what you are currently getting. And I wish people to see, what not just you, but what you guys actually are doing and the craftsmanship you have. That is why I used Mr. Shields and will still insist on doing so, because for what you’ve been able to make. What you actually do. And you put money where you mouth is. You are a Titan. You are Authenticity. Your actions speaks for itself. People should treat you with respect. You’re too valuable to be shit on professionally. You can absolutely trash talk me into reason if I deserve it. You have already proven, you know exactly how to do it, and exactly how to deliver it. Fairness means a lot to both of us. Values, morals, principles. I would never ask for compromising them. I just know, if I have you somewhere, I’m in good hands.

Man, I don't get people. Its so hard to work with people in the gaming industry because many people don't want to make friends and just have something bad in them. I have had many experiences like this in Pokemon. I try to help people coming up, they get a taste of fame and try to turn it against me to steal my audience share. I enjoyed listen loco alot, it was the first show i ever watched. the dynamic between thorin and loco was really entertaining but i get why it got canceled. It was kind of doomed to end with hom much flame loco recieved in the last few episodes. I like the crackdown even more though. It's a bit more on topic since you don't have the flame narative and both thorin and dom are pretty good entertainers. It's a shame this one got canceled though.
