Been a contractor for 15 years, I'm also a big guy (6'6, 235) and finding a boot that was comfortable, affordable and tough in a size 15 is darn near impossible... until I found the 814-4200. Seriously, enough good cannot be said about that boot. I'll never buy anything other than Thorogood from here on out. Thanks for the reviews, you do a great job!

Just ordered those and wore them Friday for the first time. I didn’t even know they were lined when I ordered them but they are super comfortable( obviously). I am an Ironworker and they were supposed to be my summer boot so I hope they are not too hot . Love the look of them though. I’ve been wearingThorogood boots for the past 10 years, they are the best work boot out there. Union made.

have the 8" pair of these now for 10 months of constant daily wear. i do on average 10 miles a day worth of walking and have fallen in love with them. I'm british, 6,3 (190cm) weighing around 107kg/ 240lbs with pretty chunky feet. usually i buy a 11 UK but the regular D width US size 12's fit me perfectly. i'm not gunna lie these boots are hard work to wear in. they will beat your feet up if you go at them too hard but after around 3 weeks they're absolutely perfect. fit like a glove. now theye e my go to shoe, all the house work gets done in them and so does the missus if she's a lucky girl! i try to maintain thjem best i can but have neglected them over the summer this year a little. However! they're still holding out and look to have years of life left! Thing is, i work with water and sometimes if i stand in puddles for extended periods i do notice marginal wetting of my toes but when treated with mink oil this doesn't happen at all. The sole is clunky to begin with if you aren't used to such a thick wedge and extended works crouching down will make the steel toe move up slightly within the lining. this causes the toe to stick up when you return to standing upright which is fairly comical but not hard to reverse. After 10 months the wedge is worn quite far and i'm looking to have them resoled soon. The only other nit pick would be the excess material on the tongue causing mild irritation in the first days as the leather won't always lay flat and will instead crease at one area. now mine has a permanent wear crease i can't feel it at all. Like i said before, they're perfect! to put it simply, these are the real deal and highly recommend them. after all, they give you a dominating presence, you'll be the envy of your peers and women can't help but find you irresistible too. You'd be lucky that they're water proof cause you'll be ankle deep in creamy box-snot in no time with these bad boys!

Just picked these up from my local surplus store. I have a pair of Carolinas for work, so these will be worn casually. Off the bat, what struck me first was the COMFORT! I actually sized down a full size from my sneaker size. It’s snug, and a EE would’ve been better, I didn’t wanna get that clown feet look. I’m sure thorough break in will suffice. I initially swapped the laces with flat waxed brown ones to tone down the look. But no, original laces are on par! And then, I never noticed that “locking” feature with these laces til I put them back on. Switching between these and my Red Wings for casual affairs!

Ok, I just got this boot. My first thorogood, and this is my review after one week of wear around the house and working in the yard shoveling and just doing chores. The tongue is a pain, and you'll need to make the effort to train it. I wish it had been cut long enough to go higher up the boot. The inside heel is a little wide. I have D-width foot and a somewhat narrow heel. The heel on this boot is too wide for my taste and allows too much heel-slip. The leather is pliable and when walking on sloped surfaces it allows too much bend/give and not much support. The toe is great and provides plenty of room. Sole is use-specific, you won't get a lot of traction in snow or mud, but they are stable on relatively even terrain. Plus, the sole is wide enough to prevent my ankles from rolling. I haven't had a chance to test the water proof feature. They are light compared to the full leather, lug Vibram sole boots I am accustomed to. These are lighter weight and lighter duty boot. I read a review by someone who said these were really a boot that should run about $150 if it were not for the made in USA build. I agree. Mine delivered were $244.

I have this boot in 8in safety toe, It is a size and half big but no where near sloppy.I work 12 hour days doing concrete and don't take them off until I have a cold beer or two. Best boot I've ever had.

I just bought these boots... on sale for 159.00 plus tax. I usually wear a 8 1/2 or 9 EE. I tried on the wide on one foot, and reg on the other. The EE seemed a little big, so I hope with a break in the reg will be just fine. I’ve worn Danner my whole life, but these thorogoods are sweet.

I’ve got the 8” moc toe 1957’s in the regular healed boot and love them. Probably gonna pick up the 3600’s as I want to try a wedge thorogood. Going to send my other boots to a cobbler for a camo wedge sole redo. Working in power plants and hydroelectric facilities the wedge is perfect for me. My keen Cincinnati’s are a wedge sole and super comfortable but the tread is peeling off in huge chunks. Need a real wedge boot in my rotation. Good video! Thanks!

I made the mistake of buying their China made boot, 834-6087. It was great with one exception. There was a place inside that rubbed my ankle and finally wore through to the hard material underneath. Nothing I tried could take the pressure and rubbing from my ankle. Had to quit wearing them long before I wore them out.

Really wish they had the poron insole under the removable insole like the 4200. But overall good boot. Also the tongue was a beast to break in.

The only thing I dislike is the eyelet above the speed hooks. If I dont use the top eyelet the top speed hook puts all the pressure on my ankle bone. But when i use the top eyelet its perfect. I just wish the eyelet was below the speed hooks and the speed hooks went to the top. Also the tounge was an absolute killer at first

I found that my thorogood 6 inch moc toe broke in very well I can say with absolute confidence that it is the best boot on the market.

I got the flyway sister boots to these with the 90° heal. I'm a 8 1/2 wide in other thorogood boots but went with a 8 wide and they fit perfectly. Just have to break in the toung.

I just picked these up today. Purchased a 10EE, which is a half size smaller than usual for me. Have to break them in, they are pretty narrow for a EE out if the box.

Love these boots absolutely flawless except one small issue I'm sure someone here can help with. I am having problems with the tounge and liner. They are creating an overlap when the boots are tied up and maybe they just need time to stretch a little more. They are brand new. But the overlapping is causing some discomfort just in front of my ankle. This is my second pair of thorogood boots and the first was the non waterproof lighter color leather and there was a serious break in period with them as well. More time??? Or does someone with a little more experience here have a tip or trick to try. Thanks. Love your videos boot guy so much knowledge that is clearly from experience!

I'm hearing about the excessive tongue side folds causes discomfort round the ankles when u tie the shoe firmly. Anybody experiencing this? Please share ur thoughts. I'm looking to buy these. Thanks.

I own these boots and yes I experience this discomfort. I haven't found a sound solution for this but I do have to move the tongue a certain way in order not to feel the "pinch point" on top of the foot. Over all when I get the boot situatiated I forgot I even have them on it's crazy! But the tongue is very annoying just have to find the sweet spot. I do own the non water proof version of this and have zero issues, it's very comfortable.

Mine too. I try to stop tucking the tounge in and just pull it out all the way then tie it. After about a week my tounge is completely worked In to where it can be tucked in

the toungue bunching up is the exact reason i passed on these boots. it is hard to get the tongue to lay flat and fold correctly when you tie the boots and when you do it is extremely uncomfortable.

Just had this SAME exact problem. Got mine for $150 on black friday, tried them on and I could not stand the tongue and how it had pressure points on the sides. Ordered a pair of their standard moc toes instead. That waterproof liner makes it too stiff and I don't see those points breaking in.

I had the same problem with the 8” model and once I broke them in I can’t feel the tongues anymore. They are super comfortable now.

WADDY 351 I agree 100%. I was disappointed at first because the tongue just dug into my ankle. Now it's broke in and I fold the tongue when I lace my boots up and I couldn't be happier. Great boots but there is definitely a break in period.

When I tried them on in the store I had the same issue but once I actually laced them up and physically moved the tongue to sit in the boot and tightened them it smoothed out over the course of a day. I will say it's the first thorogood I've had where the sole had some aesthetic flaws to it though. Not a big deal for me though.

Boot Guy , quick question...I never owned Thorogood boots or a wedge sole. My local boot guy keeps pushing the Thorogoods in telling me that they are a better boot than the Danner Bull Run that I want to buy. The Danners aren't as good a boot as far as comfort and waterproof as the Thorogoods at least on the Bull Run? Would you agree? Im looking at the 1957 over the Bull runs but not so sure. What do you think? Also , Im not using these for work purposes but casual outings in the city and round about town type activities during the fall and winter instead of my heavy duty loggers.

Local boot shop up here in mn recommends the lighter tobacco colored version of this boot, bit not the darker color. He kept saying this boot bunches up around the ankle and it's different that the.lighter colored soft toe water proof version of that boot. Like what's he talking about. I tried both colors on and felt amazing .. it's just annoying that a guy who's been selling boots for 35yrs keeps saying that. I'm 99%sure he's full of shit but why would he recommend the other color. Is the leather something different over time it will hurt or something. Always been a redwing guy what is chet talking about. He a.liar? He can get both colors and same price on each 6" boot

When you see a zero in the first set of numbers it means its a safety toe. [ 804 ] When there is a one it a soft toe [ 814 ]. Outside of that nothing.
