I am so happy I finally managed to catch up, albeit late, with this great stream. Just to sacrifice a small comment to the old gods of KZbin, I am all for a Ned and Robert Dunk and Egg adventures style story. Especially if Ned’s main job will be to clean up the mess Robert will leave behind him everywhere.

Good catch with those tattoos. I see it easily explained with Red temple of Myr being less zealous and more lax organisation when compared to other more magical and mystic sects. Or maybe they put disintrested noble sons to a sect where they cant uncover the secrets to general populace. His sect would be running the familiar face to not scare the unbelievers.

But its weird how little progress he is making. One would think it would be more useful to establish a actual temple in Kings Landing. Although it could be argued that first convert the king to not anger the faith of seven. But being Roberts best drinking buddy sounds like he was friendly enough to ask for permission to establish a temple and start forming a modest following of new converts. Maybe Robert was smart and blocked every attempts? Or Faith of Rhillor just doesnt care about Westeros? Or maybe it should be considered a hint that Faith of Rhillor is not so intrested in westerosi converts but was content having a "spy" in the court. Was Thoros sending reports on happenings in KL? It is not mentioned that Thoros is sending anything or having any Essosi visitors and is open for going to some ramdom quest to Riverlands. And he is not doing any converting until at Riverlands after the magic is back

about the resurection thing, we already got a lot more deadmen walking then most realise, Demphair, Patchface, Davos and Tyrion all drowned, the hound somehow cheated death (in the show, in the book probably too though) and even Danys stepping into the pire can be counted in there. She should have burned, she is not immune to flame, some power stept in and prevented it but paraphrasing the words of faceless man: "the god of death is owed a debt"

In the TV show (in an episode written by Martin), Melisandre confirms she used to be a slave, “scourged and branded.” We’d seen basically every inch of the skin she presents to the world at the time, so this tacitly confirms that her entire appearance is a glamor. She could look like Post Malone for all we know.

Tattoos and Thoros: I think the tattoos are limited to slaves in Volantis. Slaves/R’hllor members in other cities, including Thoros and possibly Mel, don’t have them. The tattoos are a Volantine custom rather than a R’hllorist custom.

Thoros and Beric are like Robert and Ned in a role reversal with the added factor of Thoros beeing a bit in a mentor role and beeing useful while with Ned and Robert, Ned was most likey cleaning up behind Robert all the time and more or les sucsessfuly beeing 100% of his impuls control ^^

Barristan was on the hunt with Rob, so he couldn't be sent. If you remember that is Joffery's excuse for removing him from the King's Guard. He said he failed to protect his father.

I had never thought of Thoros/Beric in this contrast to Ned/Robert as you did here....... makes me think how in a different senerio (sent to die in the riverlands, basically) that it would be Robert having to save Neds ass all the damn time as Thoros always did for Beric!!! Love it!! Wonder if Thoros will die over some dumb shit liiiiike i dunno, a boar !?!? 🤣👍🏻

@@theprimo100 thanks. Although I don’t think that is how Thoros dies, that’s where I would look with the boar sigil. I would more like look for Thoros surviving the “boar” to be killed by a ice Targaryen like zombieJon or one of the Nightkings. Theseus from Greek mythology is in part Jaqen’s inspiration, slaying of the “great white bore” is in part Robert’s death; so there are probably hints with Thoros to that effect: Jaqen poisoning Robert.

I think that the Stark children due to their psychic abilities are better at reading people than others. They're not exactly reading minds, but they are noticing things and understanding people at a high level. Kinda like how Jedi who don't know they have the force can do things that others can't like pod racing, piloting ships, etc. An unconscious use of their abilities.

Love the videos but i must disagree with the view that martin doesn't flesh out his religions. While i agree we dont know how every religion is practiced, we do know what each and every ancient religion is based on.... The long night. From Dothraki to faith of the seven, to old gods to rhillor, they all have their way of explaining the long night. They arent Fleshed out like they are in a typical fantasy series because they are tools to show different perspectives of the long night and also hint at how it ended.
