Really? But the characters they’re playing are quite average and even a bit annoying. Compare that to Super 8 or Stranger Things where the kids are just on point and great and funny and make the whole show. These guys don’t at all.

I really hate the main kid's character, the actor seems good I just really dislike insanely stupid characters with no upside... And currently that character has none, Niel and the girls seem great, nothing flashy, not super-geniuses but not dumb... That other kid character though... No impulse control AND no problem lying to even his best friend for cheap thrills, nearly wiped the party like 5 times now(taking them to a sketchy location without letting an adult know despite zero survival sense, flashing cash for food, splitting the party, pushing the button in the first place, offering to give up all their cash...

I've been describing this series to my folks as "Goonies in Star Wars." When watching it, I both agreed that At Attin looked a little too suburban for Star Wars and recognized my younger self in the characters. I was that kid who had pretend lightsaber fights and read a lot of history and fantasy books. I also remember the animosity between boys and girls, especially the kind of girl who thinks she's so smart and can talk her way out of any situation. This show brought me back to childhood. I also picked up on the Pirates of the Caribbean vibes in Episode 2.

It's just kind of nice to have some escapism in Star Wars right now. Kind of feels like the expanded Comic Book late 1970s era of Star Wars.

Yes, specific content for specific groups means we'd have a shot at new Legends stories! Or maybe even faithful adaptations of the EU. That's been a huge problem in the Disney Star Wars era. They claim they want everyone to have a place, but in actual practice, they exclude very large segments of the fan community, and try to hit the narrow niche of the mainstream, which hurts Star Wars in the long run.
@CantankerousDave9 сағат бұрын
The problem is that "for kids" now means "for morons," and that's the level such shows are written at. Classic Looney Toons were technically for kids, but were smart enough for adults to enjoy. The Muppet Show is usually categorized as a kids' show, but there's stuff in there that no kid is going to get, but they'll still enjoy it. Star Wars: Resistance? My nieces and nephews were right in that show's supposed target demo, but they stopped watching because they thought it was stupid. Andor is good because the writing is smart as hell and has compelling characters, not because it's "mature," a label that's slapped on content that's actually immature.
@CometStar10016 сағат бұрын
I always saw Star Wars being able to be pretty much any kind of genre (except if it's some sort of 4th wall-breaking sitcom which maybe that could work too if done right I guess) but legends had Star Wars dive into so many types of Star Wars stories that there isn't a true Star Wars feel to me. That's why this show and Andor works so well. The shows are now doing what the legends material stuff had been doing for years. The main saga films should all have the same kind of feel though with the same kind of music.

I'm an adult that watched this by myself (without a child present). I thought it was awesome. I was totally captivated, despite being in a hurry to finish and go somewhere. It still got over sooner than I wanted (both episodes). I think it is off to a really good start. The only thing that could really ruin it at this point would be if they tried to insert lgbt themes into it (other than that person they met on the station).

Why are people raving about this so much. Even taken as the kind of show it is, it’s only alright - it’s not the best that this kind of thing can offer. Some people are very easy to impress I guess. It’s fine at the moment, it’s not ‘awesome’.

I agree it was a bit to much earth like at the suburbia. I also think that they should think one extra time when they use words from our world. Why did Wim get "lunch money" when they use credits, wouldn't lunch credits or meal credits been better. Also I don't think Tupperware has been established in a galaxy far far away. Otherwise it was pretty good, maybe a bit childish in some parts but enjoyable. To short episodes again. Maybe it does make a difference when we haven't got any known characters invlved. Hope it gets more exciting as it moves forward

I actually liked it on first impression. It did have that weird suburban thing that throws you off at first, but you also learn that’s almost considered a myth place. It had a Goonies aspect in ways, and I guess you can see a pirates of the Caribbean aspect taking in kind of also a Stranger Things vibe. Looking forward to the next episode 100x more than a Rae movie arc. It was fun, and I’m 50s…let’s hope it doesn’t spiral down

I’ll be the first to agree with the “earth like” tones. This has been a problem with a lot of Disney Star Wars. They don’t know how to make new worlds or species and races and whatever. So little sci fi in a lot of it. But I do have hope for this series so far. I don’t see it lasting like the mandalorian though

I wasn't able to find the Anakin Solo novels, but I did read all of the "Young Jedi Knight" series, as well as the "Galaxy of Fear" novels. They fit well enough into Star Wars, even if they took some liberties with cameo appearances, and the usual problems of scale associated with sci-fi novels in general.

I think Star Wars shouldn’t make everything for everyone. But I think there can be different kinds of stories told within Star Wars. The epic drama like the Skywalker saga (2/3 of it at least), a gritty war film like Rogue One or Andor, and something for younger fans like Skeleton Crew.

Hey thor i was wondering if we could bring it around to a more broad subject for a video, i’m currently working on a thesis that i’m calling “the death of the false hero.” In which it will describe a narrative theme, usually in the second installment of a film trilogy in which the character has the idea of who they want to be utterly smashed or rather it “dies” and is then replaced by the main themes of that movie. For anakin it was being shown that the jedi are not all powerful and they have thus far not been able to protect the things he loves. For luke it was finding out vader is his father and that he is susceptable to the darkside, if you want more examples look at dreamworks with things like shrek, how to train your dragon, and kung fu panda. Of them trying to fight who they could be with who they want to be until life decides for them. I’d love to hear your take on this and be a refreshing break from the politics of lucasfilm.

Hey Thor! It feels like at this point, disney is using star wars as a template, as a scenario where they can create theyr stories. Just because you stick a couple aliens and tslk about the jedi it doesn't mean it feels like sw. I've heard you before saying that this franchise shouldn't stick to one style, and I would agree. How can Disney find the sweet spot between using star wars as a setting and repeating the same thing again and again?

Hey Thor, I've been wondering about how a millennium of peace made the Jedi complacent and arrogant. The question is, what could they have done to prevent that from happening? It's often said that peace can lead to stagnation and that controlled chaos is needed to stay in shape, so to speak. But it would be absurd for the Jedi to allow evil into the galaxy just to keep themselves focused. So what exactly could they have done to maintain the humility and vigilance they had when they were at war with the Brotherhood of Darkness?

Good writing can mean that it can be for almost all ages, this is where Disney has gotten things wrong (at least one of a few ways). Pixar movies in the past have shown that kids movies can be a hit with adults too, they are layered

The first episode was boring but the second was somewhat better.

Hey Thor, I've been wanting to ask. What are your thoughts on these crazy reylos saying that the relationship between Rey and Kylo Ren is the reversed version of Anakin and Padme's relationship, and it's also the space version of Beauty and the Beast? These relationships in comparison are absolutely nothing alike, and I really can't fathom this type of narrative they push. It's like they really can't tell the difference. I'd like to hear your response.

Hey Mr.Thor! Here a question i've been thinking of. Should Star Wars ever go Full GrimDark and gritty like Warhammer 40k, or Game of Thrones. Because if you ask me the only way Star Wars is ever going to be taken seriously and be more "mature" is that they take a page from the GrimDark handbook of both those respective franchises. And Yes, Star Wars is meant to be a more hopeful universe compared to warhammer 40k or Game of Thrones because both of those universes are hellish nightmares to live in , there's lots of violence, blood, death, very mean-spirited and cruel in its atmosphere, and almost every character is a villain or an asshole who commit varying degrees of horrific actions. But it's not like Star Wars can't make more "mature" stories that can be taken seriously i mean just look a Andor for Example. But i hate to sound like an edgelord for writing this which i'm not, but in order for Star Wars to return back to its former glory, starting with the removal of Kathleen Kennedy and the rest of the filth rotting inside Lucasfilm, they need to be like Warhammer and go Grimdark. But hey it's just some food for thought. I still would like to hear your opinion about this comment i've made Mr. Thor.

I think Star Wars childish and silly moments and characters are more about targeting the childish part we all have within, instead of giving children in the audience something to entertain about. Unfortunately, so few people are able to accept and enjoy that part of their life.

Only seen episode 1 of it so far, watching ep 2 shortly. Its reasonably good, obviously first episodes arent season long plots... so we'll see how things go. As for kids show, people died in the opening scene, mightnt have been full R rating deaths, but IMO it wasnt an episode for 10 year olds. Funny thing I noticed...the kids speedster things.... were at least better than the BoBF ones xD.

Yeah the whole "Lucas said Star Wars was aimed for 12 year old boys" argument seems to come up a lot, usually to defend bad or stupid writing as though that doesn't matter if it's meant for kids. But it was also the 1970's so he likely wasn't meaning it was aimed for the washing detergent pod eating Tiktok generation of our current dumbed-down times.

You write kids movies by not talking down to them. If you have kids in it, you write the kids as intelligent people, just like you would for an adult character. Kids are not stupid. I was one, I remember. I loved Empire as a kid. Kids don't like shows that treat them like they are babies.
@GreenBlueWalkthrough12 сағат бұрын
I mean no star wars creator has been able to successful make their Star wars media not target every audnce... Like gorge Lucas very much targeted the OF and prequal trilogies at 12 year old boys which he said during his dev logs when making the movies and in interviews then and since... But uh My mom who was a young woman saw Star wars 1987 in theators and was a fan for life seeing every movie in theators but rise of skywalker because I knida stopped her as I knew we would not like it... And she got me into star wars seemly before I was born and I loved star wars before the phatom mance came out and the Attack odf the clones was the first Star wars movie I saw in theators and is still my favorite star wars movie... I was in 1995 so while I was a boy at the time I saw Attack of the cxlones I was younger then 12... So yeah if gorge lucus has no idea what star wars target aundce is... no one does beyond everyone and anyone which the separate products beinbg up to the veiwers preference... Which it';s funny that you titled this video this way as no sstar wars show has ever been a kids show despite what most people think... Like even the noncanon cartoons before the turn of the 21st century are for everyone not just kids although they are very nichce ands not the best star wars shows... So yeah star wars is the rare IP that what ever it makes it's for everyone and if you don't like it it's fine it's just your preference and it has no baring on the IP as a whole... As advadnced in it only ever has grown as a money making IP even during the draught between the OG trilogy and the prequals and even now when negative hype has taken over the internet... Like if nothing else Lego star wars which has much more justified reasons to hate then the movies or shows still makes an insane amount of money for everyone involved form Lego and Disney and lucus film to the realaors to the chinness factor to the fans making videos, mocs and custom lego to anyone who buys it and keeps their pieces in good shape as lego star wars is the best aprcating Lego theme over all... making it better then gold... So yeah Star wars is for everyone and if you try to fight it it will never work.

I'm glad people like it but I find it too childish to my liking. The suburban landscape took me out of the setting and the early cringey story didn't help keep me interested so I closed it without the intention to give it another try. That said I am glad it is enjoyable to others as a story that is not interesting for me doesn't mean it is bad.

The movies and shows are about war. The word war is in every title. Sure, some wars are justified. But I'm guessing those in Ukraine would disagree. So why push a show about war to kids?
