Keep heading North, to Haridwar where the Ganga picks up speed gushing over rocks and bolders, then board a labouring bus for 3 days zig-zagging higher and higher to Badrinath. On the way there are places you look out the window and see below where the bus has climbed, counting 8 hairpin bends. Staggering! At night looking ahead out the window you think you are seeing twinkling stars in the night sky. But they are people's house lights high up in the mountains! The road is only open at certain times of the year. Along the way many sadhus are walking on the road. And when the bus stops and passengers get out for a stretch, you see marijuana plants growing by the sides of the road. Once you get to Badrinsth there may be snow but at the temple there are natural hot springs where you bathe. I don't even want to hazzard a guess where you will meet your greatest travel challenge. India in summer is a huge challenge! August seemed the most steaming. You pray for storms and rain😂

@@ThoseHappyDays Sorry to correct you but these two words are mispronouced a lot by foreigners Punjab and Ganges and yes that is not totally your fault becuase these words ahs been mis-spelt that is why this confusion occurs. So here is the correct pronotciation or you can search for hindi pronounciation of these two words on google. The Punjab is pronouced as Pan-jaab and Ganges is pronounced as Gangaa or as Sanatani Hindus say Maa Gangaa where Maa means mother.

Your preconceptions about India probably reflect the false British media and academic presentations that India was a land of eternal poverty and famine [I have lived in the UK since 1967]. Prior to British occupation, looting, deindustrialization etc. India was the richest economy in the world, producing the best steel in the world (wootz), a major shipbuilder, amking guns and cannon as good as in the West and dominating the world market in cotton textiles. As Prof. Jason Hickel tells us in his 2018 online article "How Britain Stole $45 Trillion from India: And Lied About It", it was Britain's development with its Industrial Revolution that was financed by 'loot' (the Hindi word for plunder) from India whilst India was left pauperised. As Hickel indicates, they also killed tens of millions of Indians by creating some three dozen manmade famines, taking India's foodgrains for British Food Security and Profit. No wonder that George Orwell wrote in 'The Road to Wigan Pier' (1936) that 100 million Indians must be forced to the edge of starvation so that the British can live in comfort.

A latitudinal line drawn straight around Mumbai is kind of the boundary between the north and south, now-days. You can see the culture change drastically like a slider bar for contrast/paint settings , as you go further up from south to north or north to south. And like a paint pallete, there is a lot of regional diversity between neighbouring provinces and the same province, in terms of culture, people, practices. India is a fabric of contrasting diversity. Unity in diversity is often the topic on the minds of many Indians.

I wish India showed more of its temples that are so amazing in architecture and date back 100'5 and even 1000(+) years that are spread out across India. There are far more fascinating in scale, size, architecture, history and even mystery than the over rated Western designed tourist attraction that is the Taj Mahal while ignoring everything that surpasses the Taj Mahal.

As you continue in India and prepare to return to the UK I and know others are looking forward to the many cooking times that you shared so much with us. I discovered your channel several months now and has changed also my eating which is a plus with the type of foods Morgan and your van had. So there is Pete the Rickshaw (so cool), Morgan (the big green machine), and forgot the other campers' names. My Mom named our vehicles as we grew up traveling also in a military family. We had a VW Bus in Germany and with then 6 children went about when Dad was off from the Army to various places. Ate and slept in it. So, much fun.
