57:16 Yeah this is one of the change from MHS1 to MHS2 that I think was a detriment. Monsties used to have innate skills that is dependent from genes, where they cannot be transferred or removed from that monstie. Because of that, some skills can't be transferred as a gene and unique to the monstie, making each monstie more special from each other because of these “signature skills” that only that species of monstie can use.

Fun fact: Basarios (which I'm pretty sure is pronounced buh-sare-ee-ohs) are the younger forms of Gravios, which is why they both have the giant lava beam as their Kinship: it's literally the same animal. Nobody knows why Ruby Basarios happen, but Black Gravios happen when Basarios migrate to volcanoes before they fully mature to the more heat-resistant Gravios and its skin scorches permanently black.

@@TreeckoBro That's honestly one of the best parts about Monster Hunter to me: Believable/Logical fantasy. Monsters may SEEM utterly ridiculous, but their ecology is explained so that you can suspend your disbelief and say "yeah, I can believe something like that could exist." For example, Astalos. An insectoid wyvern that produces green lightning. Crazy, but everything about is explained. Its segmented head comb and pincer tail move because Astalos have no Thunder Sac like Khezu. Instead, their Thunder is actually static electricity, so it HAS to move a lot to produce it, and can store it in these moving parts. This is also why Astalos are borderline psychotically violent and one of the most agile aerial monsters out there; the more they move, the stronger they become. Boltreaver Asatlos is even crazier, having a second level of charge to become bright blue and gains magnetic properties. This is due to Boltreavers being born with an extreme mutation that amps up their static electricity production, and an almost metallic shell that grants powerful electromagnetic properties when charged with electricity. It's stuff like THAT that makes me love Monster Hunter to death and why I keep coming back.

Trivia: Rathian was the first monster to ever be designed by the monster hunter team, they made Rathalos after her so technically Rathalos is diet Rathian, I think Rathian is also much more fun to fight than Rathalos personally and I have fond memories of farming her for materials on the original ps2 game - signed one of the two Rathian fans

@@TreeckoBro I like Rathalos from a design point of view but I have never liked fighting him for much the same reason as Kushala Daora before they changed it's fight in Rise, monsters that spend a large portion of the fight in the air are just so frustrating to fight with any blademaster weapons and before world changed the controls for gunner weapons. Rathian is I think one of the best designed fights in the series which makes sense given that she was the first monster created and was likely used as a base on how to design the other monsters in the game, nothing about her fight is unfair and she teaches newer players how to deal with certain fundamentals like the importance of cutting tails on certain monsters to stop them using certain moves and avoiding her fireballs teaches you how to deal with ranged attacks. She's basically the tutorial monster for how most harder fights are going to play out.

Some big mistakes / things to note about this video: All the deviants besides thunder lord have unique kinship animations, and Silver wind has a crazy finishing move to it so skipping it was kinda a shocker to see. Some monsters have a lot more changes with their moveset than what you see at surface level. Glavenus, Mizu, Astalos, and Gammoth are the Fated Four. You didn’t do any of the title update monsters. You haven’t reacted to Ratha’s three kinships which are all very unique (the third one is the dark raze-wing one Zellard uses against you). Ash Kecha Wacha has a different element for its kinship. Astalos and Glavenus have deviants as well with insane kinships from the title update. Deviants are just monsters who have undergone extreme changes, like how Silverwind is just an incredibly old Nargacuga. Thunderlord did look much better in Generations for his design. As for the Raths, we are getting Dreadking rathalos to go with Dreadqueen rathian soon and the last title update in the first round is giving us Silver rathalos and gold rathian. Some other monsties like molten tigrex and the metal raths are in stories 1 so you could react to them that way.

Whoa really? Sorry I skipped them then! Other than a slight change of color, I made sure not to skip out on the ones that changed up the animations in some meaningful way. I pretty much was just judging from surface level, I will totally admit! That's why I tried to look at design and kinship. The title update monsters were tough. I originally was going to do them but time restraints as well as not having footage of their kinship animations sort of forced my hand in taking them out of the final video. This took FOREVER to edit so I apologize! I also mostly tried to judge the kinships for the ones you, the rider, can use. I do like the partners' but they felt irrelevant to include. I do hope Dreadking Rathalos lives up the hype! Thanks for the comment :)

I'm a rathian fan and my rathian is speced to the gills with maxed out poison and fire. Ratha doesn't have the poison tail that I've seen so I like having Rathian too.

46:00 pretty sure the reason why there is a green variant is because Nargacuga is a stealh predator so it would make sence since the normal nargaciga is normaly found in deep forests kinda while the green nargacuga is more found in open areas with not so many trees close by . So the green fur is just a way for the green nargacuga to blent in better with its open surroundings while the normal nargacigas black fur better blents in with the shadows of the deep forests

Rathian is my favorite, I prefer it's colours, wing patterns, the structure of it's tail way more bulky, armored looking is nice, tufts of hair on it help it stand out more, and the legs break up the legs being black colour helps keep the green from being overwhelming while emphasizes it's grounded nature, they also aren't as armored showing how more nimble it is on the ground, it looks built for chasing prey down. It's great details like this that made me appreciate it so much, I also thought it was diet rathalos until I really looked at them both and all the little differences that makes them play of each other so well. I am massive nerd.

Nergigante and Velkhana are definitely my favorite two elder dragons in stories 2 because these two monsters always appeared to be polar opposites of each, at least in my mind, when it comes to their designs, aesthetics, and personalities as monsters. To me, Nergigante has always had a more intimidating and indomitable presence when compared to other elder dragons, given his title as the “Eater of Elder” and the fact that he faces other EDs with nothing but raw physical strength. Time to shatter this portrayal of Nergigante by sharing a cute and fun “fact” about this dragon. Nergigante is literally an overgrown and hangry durian cat dragon, who also has toe beans. When it comes to Velkhana, she’s always given off similar vibes to other EDs and Nergigante, but for completely different reasons. She’s always had this overwhelming sense of pride and grace as the queen of ice and if you were to listen to her original or AT theme, she gives off a militaristic yet elegant aura, which to me, fits her design perfectly. It’s nice to see her receive a lot more love in stories 2 as well.

Funny enough, my friends and I just got to the point in Iceborne where we met it for the first time. I had no clue it was in Iceborne! Still trying to get it in stories currently. When it comes to Velkhana’s and Nergigante’s importance in MHW, the two of them are the flagships of this particular game with Nergigante being the flagship for World and Velkhana being the flagship for Iceborne. Also, I wish you the best of luck when trying to find your very own Velkhana with the rainbow aura as well. When it comes to listening to her many themes, I will leave that decision up to you. When it comes to listening to her themes, you can always listen to her theme in-game while hunting her or in your personal room in Seliana with the music player near the entrance. You can always look them up by themselves, so you can hear it much better and vibe to it without being worried of being turned into a popsicle. The only version you might have or want to look up would be her AT version because you have to be master rank 100 to fight AT velkhana and listen to her AT theme, so listen to them however you want.

Rathian in fact have pretty different combat patterns what are more focused on land combat as well as her infamous poison Tail Spin moves.. Personally I don’t think what it is somehow worse than Rathalos. Rathian and Rathalos are just like Nidoking and Nidoqueen of Monster Hunter, imo.

I know I’m like a month late, but my favorite has to be the Molten Tigrex, I already like the other Tigrexs, but I like the Molten most because of it’s access to blast along with the colours, the red and Black with blue highlights just goes reall Well together. Theres also it’s fighting style, which as You Can guess, involves explosions, specifically the explosions generated by it’s scales, which are pulverised and turn into volatile clouds, which really makes it look good with small trails of blast powder coming from it’s body Along with the fact that it’s one of the five rare species monsters, all of which I enjoy. For anyone wondering, rare species are monsters that, due to a specific and very rare, mutation are able to rival elder dragons, They each also share a connection with rare metals in some way, Molten Tigrex has claws that are like metal, not sure what kind though. Do also ask if You want more info about the rare species, or just general facts and knowledge from someone deeper into the MH fandom, I’ll share what I can, dear reader here in the comments.

My favorite monstie is Diablos, more specifically Bloodbath Diablos. It's one of the strongest non-elemental monsties in the game (tied with Nergi I think). Also fun fact: the blue accents on Bloodbath's shell is the accumulated blood of monsters its fought and killed, which is (one of) the reason(s) why its referred to as "Bloodbath". It also gets so angry that the water in its body starts to boil, which is why it gets steam attacks when enraged. Also, I'm a fan of Rathian, even over Rathalos. She's helped me out surprisingly often in the mainline games, and was a staple member of my team in Stories 2.

Something of note with a number of the monsters: some of the different colored ones are known as subspecies. Like Sand Barioth. They're variations of monsters that adapted to different regions. Like from a frozen desert to a sandy one. Though it doesn't apply to all as Black Diablos is not something genetic. In lore, its a female Diablos in heat. So its a variant not a subspecies. Meaning it should be temporary.

Eyyy if you ever wanna meet a massive roaster of Monsters you could play Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. It still has a pretty big community. One thing to note before touching the game take your time with the combat, having the old World combos, and then the styles change them up even more. There are plenty of guides on the styles for each weapon. MHGU also is the game where all the devients come from including a lot that arnt in stories yet like Drilltusk and Deadeye

That's unfortunately not true. It's just a fan rumor that spread around. There is no in game text discussing a crossbreed. And there's nothing in any of the supplemental Japanese text from any of the concept books. So unlike the Equal Dragon Weapon which is unused, noncanon, art it's a least offical from the MH dev team. The whole Yian Kut Ku Rathian thing has literally zero evidence to back it up. It's just an internet rumor. Still fun and can easily be a personal head canon, it's just not a fun fact.

33:32 Monster Hunter Stories 1 was my first ever Monster Hunter game wich ofcorse means i first meet all the monsters that where in the first game for the first time and i remember buying it if i remember correctly because i saw in in the store and read its description on the back of the little package thing where the little ships wich the game is on is inside and thought to myself that it might be interresting since at that point i had ATLEAST heard of monster hunter before but dint really care about it and I'm a huge pokemon fan so when the description basicly said that its pokemon but with monster from monster hunter i decided to try it out and ended up fslling in love with it . It also let me to the rest of the monster hunter games ( i think it was around the time when Monster Hunter Rise was about to be announced) wich in the end I also bought Monster Hunter Rise when it came out and then when Monster Hunter Stories 2 was announced i litteratly made make little happy dances ( i also bought it the day it was released) . So basicly if it weren't for Monster Hunter Stories i would have never had found my way to the Monster Hunter community

In the first game it could do its call and summon a random monster from the area wich could help if you where to want to find a specific monster . Technically my favorite was Velkhana until I got to experience a lot of good memories with my hellblade glavenus and Boltreaver astalos so those two took the top with my favourite being the hellblade. Useful in combat with his insane damage outputs and with such "simple" yet stunning changes in it's design that make him look like a demon, he has eveything to me. Kandarian, my best friend for life (best kinship is velkhana's though. Hellblade's only my top 5 even though the double cross is cool as f*ck, boltreaver my top 2 because the lighting blade desintegration is way too epic, Top 3 is nergigante's decimating fist because of the sheer awesomness, and gold rathian is top 4 because BLACK HOLE)

Kirin is my favorite elder dragon. Well, Orochi Kirin is. Yeah, you said most of the monster names wrong lol, but you started with World so that's to be expected. Ever since world came out I’ve just fallen in love with my “Pretty pretty”. Then we even have the “Fancy Fancy” variant in iceborne!

It's super obvious you haven't played the past monster hunters or the first monster hunter stories. Ratha is important for the story it isn't a mascot. Also you should really play the 3ds version of monster hunter stories one or play it on mobile phones it's got a great story and even cooler monsters. The best monster hunter on the 3ds though is 4 ultimate. It has the best dlc and side armors ever. If you want to fight in the water play mh3 though it's interesting. I'm not a huge fan or rise but I did like world. But I started on monster hunter freedom unite where most of these monsters from monster hunter stories 2 kicked our asses repeatedly. Also your pronunciation needs work.
