Could you make a video about sight-reading? How important is sight-reading? And why? I heard from another professional pianist that your level on the piano is only as good as your sight-reading level/skill

Hello professor wang, I'm going to start applying to some number of universities sometime this year, with Baylor being at the top of my interests, and I would like to know how or if the application process is any different for homeschoolers, as myself, and for cross state applicants, as I live in Mississippi as of now, and if these two variables effect scholarship offerings, housing, stipends, financial aid, etc. And I would like to know about the order in which the "Beethoven, Mozart, haydn, or schubert sonata", and "Bach or scarlatti", and the "one substantial composition from the 19th, 20th, or 21st century" are to be performed, and just what goes on during the audtion, as in, is there any conversations, questions, etc. And I have just a few more questions. How do performance and competition opportunities come about, and are there any student jobs that leave enough time to practice, do you get to practice before the audition, and lastly, how long are practise rooms typically available and are they open throughout the whole week. we'd be willing to take the trip to Waco for me to audition, but I want to make sure I know as much about Baylor, its professors, and offers as I can before making any decisions. Sorry for so many questions, but as I'm sure you can understand, it's a high decision. Perhaps we can talk more via your email from Baylor's site and discuss my situation and who I am there. Thank you very much professor Wang for any insight you can give me.

Two more questions. Can performances on KZbin give any insight to the professors of the students ability and can they have any weight on the decision making process? If so, I will start posting some videos to help if they can. And can I still be seriously considered if I have no personal teachers to give any letters of recommendation.

Sorry if some of the questions sound obvious, I've read everything on Baylor's site, but sometimes it can be a little vague or doesn't have the answers to a paticular question, and also none of my family members have gone to university, so i have to do eveythijg myself. Id be very grateful if you could answer some of the question, i understand you're busy and might not be able to get to them all. Thank you

Sorry for the late reply. Somehow I didn’t get the message notification from KZbin. To answer a few of your questions: the scholarship will come from two parts, the university ( for academic excellence) and school of music ( for good auditions). I have had students who got the entire tuition covered, basically receiving a full scholarship. Boarding isn’t covered , but after the first year, students move out from the dorms and seek much cheaper options.

We do have in house competitions: concerto competition, the winner performs with the school orchestra and Semper Pro, the winner performs in Carnegie Hall. As for jobs, lots of pianists get local church jobs and there are lots of collaborative jobs ( we have an about 400 music major students, they all need pianists for jury and recitals)

For undergraduate, we ask for three pieces from different styles. We would like to see recommendations, it’s a bit strange for a prospective piano major to not have a teacher. But of course, the most important thing is the actual audition!
