We had a couple free nights there offered when we purchased our previous Jayco TT in Montrose CO however we didn't use it. I don't think it was a TT campground at the time. We love the area around there, we actually bought a log home at 9100' elevation in Blue Mesa Residential area in Powderhorn. Miss that place. We will be spending a month just down the road in Oasis RV resort this Sept. hope to see the Aspens changing color.

It was mentioned about 30 amp and 50 amp services. I'm pretty sure RV'S with 2 rooftop A/C units come standard with a 50A plug. But I'm assuming that 50A RV owners can buy a conversion step down plug going from 50A to 30AMP. Correct? You all are probably aware of this but for the discussion on others who read this. 50 amps is needed to run two A/C units. And 30 AMP runs one A/C unit. So with that said, if the weather is normal and doesn't require running two A/C units and the campground doesn't have availability for 50 amp service lots than by all means.... rent the 30AMP lot and convert your 50A to 30AMP plug and don't run the 2nd A/C. I would imagine that most RV people don't realize that one A/C UNIT start up/surge power rating is 3500 to 3600 watts. When you calculate the conversion values of 30 amps to watts, it's 3600 watts and equal to 30 amps. When the compressor unit in a AC unit kicks in, that's the reasons for the 3600 watts requirements needed to run that AC. And 3000 watts generators will not do the job running one AC unit. The way I approached my generator replacement values..... I needed 3600 watts for the AC and another 1800 watts for making coffee, so a 7500 watts with a Honda motor generator was installed. Another fact about generators and why Onan brand generators are used in most cases rather than those others found in home improvement stores. Home improvement store generators are not made to withstand earthquake type conditions as an RV is cruising down the road and Onan generators are designed for those earthquake conditions. Anyways.....I don't know why I'm ranting about all this but I do like how this campground placed privacy landscaping around the lots. Thousand Trails..... doesn't Gettysburg Pennsylvania have a Thousand Trails? If I'm correct.... I'll never agree to withstand their sales pitch seminars again! Promise lunch.... got crockpot hot dogs and a free gigantic headache like I had never experienced before in my life. Gettysburg Battlefield campground is definitely haunted! Really! How can anyone explain to me this. I climbed over my girlfriend to get to the other side of the bed 🛌 in complete darkness and her fingernail goes into my eyes, removes my contact lens from my eye and she catches with the tip of her tongue? No, I didn't scream.... I got up and washed my contact lens and put it back in my eyeball and went to sleep! And that didn't last long until we was awoken again by the Hatfield and McCoy Squirrels in the tree above the camper dumps their winter supplies of nuts down onto the camper roof. Sounded like machine guns.... and must have been three 5 gallon buckets worth! Now that freaked me out and than I went to sleep 😴! The End!
@oureverydaygetaway2 жыл бұрын
Hey Dean! Thanks for all the Great information! Gettysburg has two Thousand Trails. The one we stayed at was terrible. Had us in a site that backed right up to the highway. OMG, now that would have freaked me out as well! 💀👻
@jimcolts2 жыл бұрын
IF you have 2 AC and are often going to be in areas where you are going to need both AC running but can often only get 30 AMP service I would install "softstart" to ACs as you can then run both AC on 30 AMP. Need to consider the cost ($300 each softstart) as to how often this would be beneficial for your camping style.
@DeansofNomadica2 жыл бұрын
@@jimcolts Yes, that's correct, Jim! And a great answer and idea for folks to consider....

@@oureverydaygetaway Hello.... I didn't know Gettysburg had two Thousand Trails places. Backed up to the highway.... that could have been Battlefield campground or the one located on Rt.15. And yes.... Gettysburg is a very mysterious and ghostly location. I forgot it's Halloween this weekend so I reckon my stories fit the season. I have another story about Gettysburg ghostly things but it's too embarrassing to write about.
@oureverydaygetaway2 жыл бұрын
Roundtop Campground is the one we stayed at. Route 15 is the highway it backs up to. Little Drummer Boy is the better TT of the two. One day when we get a chance to meet you and your wife you'll have to tell us about it. Hopefully sooner than later.

Looks like a great place to say in central Colorado. It appears that you are staying for a month a each park over that past months, in lieu of spending a few days here and there. By design? I know its got to be cheaper... right. We are planning a trip out west,but gas just hit $4.10...and up here in Pa. sooooooo?????? not sure now. Till cocktails....Go Red Team.
@oureverydaygetaway2 жыл бұрын
The cost of fuel and the economy has definitely affect the way we travel. We've book a few places for a month to save a little here and there. If you can't go out west maybe try the upper north east. It's on our bucket list to visit. Yes! 🧡

Not as often as we should to make it work cost wise. While in Florida this winter we'll be staying at quite a few. Most of the ones we've stayed at are not very nice. Still on the fence if we'll keep our membership.

well everbody's heard about the bird the bird the bird the bird is the word....Surfin Bird by the Trashmen "first come first served"......really can't make a reservation?? It is that way in OKC fair grounds for our horse show but never heard of that anywhere else....seems odd for a campground that big.

Actually you can make reservations just not an exact site until you arrive. Such a large campground I can't imagine they are booked out that often. How's the weather up there? Florida's getting close. 😀
@marychristie61942 жыл бұрын
I will never join 1000 trails-All sites should have both 50 and 30 amp -KOA has three 20-30 -50 amp -plus I don’t like not having a reservation and the park knowing you have a 50 amp rig -That being said-we aren’t full timers so we don’t need this membership-We do have a 50 amp Motorhome and we want full use of it with 50 amp 😀🚌🇺🇸
@oureverydaygetaway2 жыл бұрын
We said the same thing at first but with the costs what they are we changed our minds earlier this year for the savings. You actually can make reservations at this park just can't pick your spot until you arrive. It does stink that you have to find a 50amp site (if there's open) and pay an additional fee. Stay safe and enjoy any day you can getaway. 😊
