So true about things still being there the second day. I went yesterday on the second day and found two old travel posters for $5 (for both). They're worth a couple hundred each. They were lying, folded, on a table clearly visible but with some other small papers on top. Guess people just don't want to bother pulling them out and unfolding them!

What a haul - good for you! I wasn't able to attend an estate sale Friday that had lots of paper items and old antiques, etc. I could have gone today but was afraid there would be nothing valuable left as it was quite a hike from my location. I guess your video taught me to not assume that everything is picked over on the last day. Another thing you reaffirmed for me is that the more you know about things other people pass over, the more opportunities there will be. I love selling Bibles & vintage cook books and many times that section of the thrift store (old books at estate sales) are often overlooked and I can make out like a bandit. I never realized old posters had such value. Thanks for the show and BOLO reminders!

GREAT HAUL!!! One thing I learned pretty quick when it comes to resellers and estate sales. Not all are well versed in a variety of items and many of are niche type resellers. Many sales I see the same people get into line well before me and leave empty handed because they are looking for specific items.

Dominic , I know this video is a couple years old , but I truly enjoyed it , you do a very good job , totally enjoyable for a very young 65 year old retired elevator mechanic , I hit the trail every week for estate sales , I wish YOU TUBE and internet was around when I was in my 30s 40s , the stuff that I found in those old machine rooms for all the 100 year old buildings in downtown CHICAGO that I worked in the 70s and 80s would be so cool to see in a video on you tube , I still have much of it , in the many storage facilities I have , I hope my grandkids and their kids have the patience to go though it like you possess , probably not ! I gonna go out on the limb and say your parents were Italian and Irish , you have that unique intelligence that combination of those two nationalities compose ! I wish you and Mrs Prime Time nothing but the best of luck, from one of your top FANS , I got to say I haven’t been a fan too many thru my years, so much, that I wouldn’t even buy my kids sport jersey with some famous athletes name on the back , I would say “ how to do you wear the name of some one else on your back , what would happen if you ran into that person and they wanted it back , wear your own name and be proud of that! You know what mean!!!!!

Great video on why you can still hit homeruns at the 2nd day of an estate sale. I’ve gone to estate sales the 1st day and then decided to come back the 2nd day to pick something up I forgot and then end up finding $1k+ of stuff that I missed the 1st day. Sometimes that box buried beneath every other box is the one that has all the most valuable stuff. Leave no stone unturned, that’s where the best stuff is.

I thought of you today when I went to an estate sale that had posters of all kinds. They ranged from pretty girls like Charlie's Angels, Farrah Fawcet, Cheryl Ladd and the like along with sports figures & movie posters. I looked up the Farrah Fawcet posters (surprisingly not worth much), but found the movie posters were going for much more. I ended up with 6 movie posters vintage late 1970s - 1980s with an original Close Encounters of the Third Kind. This particular one sold for $75 plus shipping and the one I have is in immaculate condition. I also got originals from Star Wars (fighter jets, not characters) 1977, A Bridge Too Far (everyone in Hollywood starred in that movie), The Long Riders, Moonraker James Bond 007 starting Roger Moore 1977, and a couple of others. A couple were folded but still in good condition. I bought those and some still sealed 1994 collectible Star Trek Generations action toys that are numbered and still sealed in the package. I managed to get all of the characters except for Guinan and Chekov for a total of 14. I think I can sell them as a set. The guy that had died was affiliated or related somehow with Star Trek music or production in Hollywood and had probably 100 of these figures in different series (Deep Space Nine). There was a guy who came after me that wanted to buy them all, so I think I got the best ones and the rest went to him. Being new to this kind of stuff, I didn't buy them all! lol My question for you is how big of tubes do you usually buy for movie posters, about how much do they weigh and what is limit for 1st class mail in dimensions? I am thinking of going with either 2" or 3" x 24" tubes because the posters are longer than wide. Thank you so much! And another thing....I had to drag myself out of bed to get there really early and still got #12. No one was really looking at this stuff but me and another guy wanted all of the basically worthless Farrah posters. As I was digging through the posters, I was handing Farrah to him! lol!!! Sorry so long, but you should have been there!
@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter5 жыл бұрын
Sounds like fun! You made out well! Real movie posters are 27x40 so you’ll need a tube longer than 24 inches for those. Don’t forget to pad each end of the tube so the poster does not get damaged banging around in there. Thickness of the tube doesn’t matter. Cardboard strength does. Most of the tubes are very strong. For smaller posters I use 2x24.

After you had a good lot of the posters set aside for buying, when would it be a good approach to buy the rest unseen and do it at home and risk some loss so that you had enough time to go and seek other treasure there or was there really nothing else at the barn to look at?
@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter5 жыл бұрын
I looked at everything in that barn before and after the posters. I’m not sure if you saw the whole video but there were many other things I picked up beside the posters. It comes down to time management. If you did not have the time to look through all of the posters and were convinced that you had many great gems in there then it could make sense to purchase the entire lot. But I had the time mapped out properly and was able to separate the good from the bad which gave me a better purchase price in the end and saved me taking home a lot of waste.

Incredible haul! Just an FYI, My local post office informed me that with the rate increases this past January, any poster tubes longer than 22' must ship priority service and no longer qualify for first class service. That being the case, I now ship posters in the small USPS priority triangle cartons / tubes. The tubes are free when ordered online. Another experience, I've had 6 poster tubes delayed up to 3 weeks! Since forced now to ship priority, AND shipping in triangle tubes none of my posters have been late or delayed, just my experience. Hope this helps, especially if shipping high value posters. Thanks for sharing, what an incredible score!
@CruJones815 жыл бұрын
DuPage Picker I’ve shipped 50+ Poster this year first class and haven’t had any problems. USPS doesn’t always understand their rules and/or apply then uniformly. First class retail has the 108 inch length and girth restriction(no 22 inch max). Commercial has the 22 inch max(it also mentions a surcharge for tubes but doesn’t say how much). I’m going to keep shipping them first class until I encounter issues.

Seeing how many posters were really great, I was wondering why you just didn't make an offer for the whole lot. Then you could take your time when you got home going through them. They all have to be worth something
@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter5 жыл бұрын
Good question and I thought of that as well but there were just too many that had significant damage or what other wise was not worth it based on the comps. Since I had the time set aside to check through the mall there it worked out best to pick them out because I wound up keeping about half of what was there. Also I would’ve had to pay a lot more than $50 to get a bunch of stuff that I would’ve thrown out.
@flipt4real7625 жыл бұрын
That was going to be my question as well. Once a nice sample was taken, it seemed evident there was a lot of keepers. Maybe there was a reason why not. When I see a large lot of postcards and take a sample, I usually tell them I don't really have the time to go through them all and make a bulk offer.

Do you want me to notify you when these posters are listed? Any particular one you are most interested in?

quick question here, how do you know that adaptor you plugged that radio into is the correct voltage and polarity, you may have burned it out and destroyed the radio 💀💀💀💀

Just do a quick spec check online and your all set

I could not understand why you did not make an offer on all the posters since you would have made profit on each anyway.

Why dont you save time and just buy all the posters in a bundle deal, once you seen their good
@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter2 жыл бұрын
Because many were damaged and worthless so I pulled out all of the valuable ones and got a bundle deal on those. That is time well spent

Why don’t you just buy them all!

I’ve explained this many times. Because I don’t want them all. Many were damaged and don’t sell well. So I cherry picked the best ones.

too much talk, no action; boredom sets in.

We all have our weaknesses. Mine is that I can be a bit wordy. But if you stick with the video there is still plenty of action.

Watching the way you rolled up those posters so the seller wouldn't know how many you had really disgusted me. Pure greed. I don't need to watch anymore after this one.

You have literally no clue what you are talking about. The estate sale dealer priced those out as a bulk lot at the end and knew exactly how many were there. If you’d like her contact information to confirm, send me an email to primetimetreasure@gmail.com and I’ll gladly provide it. Amazing how you automatically jump to the worst possible conclusion about someone you don’t know. Shameful.
