I know Marston is Thousandth Cave, but he mentions this is a covers album. Unless I’m misinterpreting?

Look in the info for each song on the bandcamp. It seems to be covers of different artists. Exile is an Enya cover. Prayer is a Duran Duran cover. Multiple tracks are originally done by Alex Saropian, a videogame developer who co-founded Bungie and the original Halo, etc.

Ambient. Not sure on a more specific genre than that but big beautiful synth drones are all over ambient in general. If you want more like this then dungeon synth might be worth looking into too, it's usually waaaaay more lo-fi from what I've heard but is otherwise extremely similar.
