Coming here late, but just wanted to say that I too feel that Lee Pace was the perfect choice to play this particular charactor. Make up and costuming was spot on, pefect! As for Thranduil himself, according to Tolkien's later accounts he was ancient. Nearly as old as Elrond, but with a much different "backstory". Much more loss in in his life, and it was because of rash action by themselves, there was the loss of his grandfather and later his father in battle, he became all the more insular and careful. But, like all Elves, he still had a kind heart under all the sterness. I liked how the Hobbit revealed both his sympathetic heart (feeding the people of Laketown) and in the book, helping them to rebuild, and his dismay at the loss of life in all the armies. Plus he was much nicer to Bilbo, (in the book),and even invited him and Gandalf to visit his realm anytime. The madeup story about his wife and his son, (although Legolas is revealed as his actual son sent to Rivendell in LOTR) do add more, but are a part of the movie maker's arch, not of Tolkien's. And yes, he is indeed my favorite of all the Elf kings, princes and lords!

I think Thranduil is just so hot & drop dead gorgeous! That he ( Lee Pace) happens to be a fabulous actor & was born to play Thranduil is icing on the cake! But it always leaves me with a slight twitch of guilt that i find myself drawn so physically to a Bloody Elf King ... It kinda seems so wrong in a way🤔 Hes almost untouchable, pure & Of the ethereal realm, an Elven King of magic & Fantasy... But my word! Id get over the guilt in a thrice if he came up to me in that arch royal way & looked down at me with those eyes of his... id have his cloak off & down on the Dire Wolf fur rugs Flinging his crown off & tussle with him, in sheer unadulterated ardour & shameless lust!! @jacqueline ann goodison Thanks Jacqueline! It is such a guilty pleasure watching all those hours just to see Thranduil the little that we do. I came across a writer in Scotland that seems to know all things Tolkien. I tried to communicate with him directly but couldn’t find a way. I wanted to suggest he write a screenplay about Thranduil and his life. The company that makes it would definitely have buyers for the DVD. Can you imagine the number that would sell?! If it had Lee Pace playing the part of Thranduil again, I’d pay a hundred dollars to see it in the theater. Maybe more!!! 😍. This is my favorite of his videos on YT. I love the pictures you used and the music. I watch it before bed to relax. It works every time. Thanks for doing such a great job. 😊
