Although I meant it...I also mean this: As an NC native from Onslow County, you guys are some of the best ambassadors our state has ever seen on the interwebs. You aren't preachy, but you are wholesome....its like mayberry all over again. Thanks for doing what you do and inspiring people of all ages and backgrounds to get into motorsport. It's very empowering! I don't think you fully understand how big of a positive influence you are in your local and online communities. Keep up the good work. Come to England fellas! hello my name is david / i am a long time open mod flathead racer, on one of your shows you had a briggs that was cutting out at hi RPMs you removed the 3 hp iron flaywheel to tray to fix it , you had valve float out ! to fix it install a stiffer valve spring or add a shim under the valve springs . the 3 hp iron flywheel IS THE WAY to go on a 5hp briggs !!! if you stay with the BIG stock flywheel you can break the crankshaft ( if you are raceing it) the on and off full throttle works the carnk back and forth ( like comein off the turn on a racetrack) i broke 4 cranks before i learned to allways use the 3 hp iron flywheel on a 5hp briggs , i raced open flatheads for many many years (86-93) love your channel !!!!!!!

Hey John you are missing something for that seat. The seat on that minibike was hinged at the front with a pair of spring shocks at the back to hold the seat level with the bike. I think they basically got as far as they could with the drag rail as it was, then the frame got bent. I'm pretty sure the wheels on the tot rod are the ones that used to be on the rail implying it's been "retired"? If there aren't legal places to ride on tarmac then off road stuff like the cross kart makes more sense, and I think they said if they were going to do another drag build it would be from scratch with a more powerful engine.

@edwardwerick24205 жыл бұрын
If you mount the seat from a hinge at the front and put some springs under the back, you can level the seat and improve the ride at the same time. I bought a 3 liter peanut tank from the internet for $20 for my Coleman EX200. One of those would look cool on your mini.
@ghomerhust5 жыл бұрын
look to see if there's a bolt hole about half way down the rear of the bike. with that top bar angle, its almost like that frame was made to have a spring suspended seat on it. ive had a couple in the past like that, where there's a pair of tiny springs, miniature versions of what's on the front of the cross kart. it gives the seat a sweet soft ride over bumps. that way, you use the same seat, and it's propped up level, but its super soft.

I picked up an older mini "Harley-styled" pocket bike for $40. It has full suspension, I put 12 inch adjustables in so it's has a 3 inch rear lift to accommodate actual loads. It has a lot of space in the frame for big fun like my fresh GX 160 CS race motor but I'm going to try the stock jack shaft with a pepped up 49cc 2 stroke because it has glorified bicycle axles and a freewheel. I'm not expecting much beyond a cruiser, I have a 14hp built 196 with a torque converter in a ct200u for shutting it down! If I flip the axle, reem out the dropouts and add a 5/8 set up there is no turning back. Would you run it as an ultralight? Sell it or keep it because it's a one of a kind and find a stronger platform for the Gx? The Honda has an ARC billet .323 rod, CS Grind Core cam, 22# springs, PVL flywheel, U2 piston, Autolite plug, race coil, 32 degrees of timing, Tillotson PK-1b tuned performance carb, a shorty pipe and billet intake. I believe the 160 has the 14mm head. With the longer throw and increased compression I'm guessing this thing is somewhere in the 12-13 neighborhood. I did the full governor delete, do you know the bolt size for the low oil sensor delete? I'm thinking this motor will eat this frame up at the jackshaft and I'll have to go TAV 30 to retain the sweet suspension. The jack shaft is designed as an extension of the rear suspension linkage so upgrading that hardware would basically call for enough fabrication to replace the whole frame! Any suggestions on this one boys? It's a cool rat rod build either way, I wish I could send you guys some pics to see why I scooped this up. Stripped down with the new shocks it looks old school and cool.
