Krark Sakashima is my most hated thing in magic, I forever war literally anyone who plays it. Who joins a table just to play solitaire with themselves whilst everyone is forced to watch. It’s so disgusting

@@ecclesiaandune687 Its not solitaire because everyone can interact at any time. Its only solitaire if everyone taps out and in that case any combo or adnaus would win anyways

We need to talk about the importance of early interaction/ removal. Some commanders are so game changing you’re not suppose to let them untap with them. Krark with sakashima is on that level. It’s like allowing someone to untap with Narset or Elsha or something like that. They will out value you. You almost cannot win if they are able to “do the thing”. Kill on sight. Almost Always.

Quick note about 8:27, Krark says that you MAY change the target of the copied spell. Therefore, the player could have decided to not change the targets and let the spell fizzle. In that case, it doesn’t change anything, but it can be important when playing spells like Pact of Negation ^^

Right. It's very niche, glad someone else caught it. 706.10c: Some effects copy a spell or ability and state that its controller may choose new targets for the copy. The player may leave any number of the targets unchanged, *even if those targets would be illegal*. If the player chooses to change some or all of the targets, the new targets must be legal. Once the player has decided what the copy's targets will be, the copy is put onto the stack with those targets.

Ethan had a more simple line of play and didnt need to cast archmag and mystical tutor. Once he cast the dockside he can continue casting the twinflame alternating between Sakashima as Krark and the dockside as the target of the spell/copy to get infinite treasure and infinite krark copy with haste.

Jason here. I don't want to shit on some peoples' favorite deck too hard here, but the deck just doesn't really function. It's asking for too much time without playing stax pieces that can give you that time while affecting multiple players. Even though turning interaction into card advantage sounds good, breaking even on 1 for 1 removal isn't very good. Plus overly relying on Thoracle doesn't help once you're inevitably put in a bind. If you're looking for the 1 for 1 control angle, I recommend Nymris. It does a lot of what Curious Control is trying to do without needing a ton of inconsistent and vulnerable set up. If you want a green soup control deck, I've found punnyname's version of Atraxa, Grand Unifier to work better, although the deck is still basically less consistent Tivit. Atraxa is still my current go to deck. Full disclosure: I haven't played Curious Control in over a year at this point. Some of the new cards like Orcish Bowmasters, The One Ring, Talion Kindly Lord, Lorien Revealed, and Sauron's Ransom could be worth exploring but I think the strategy in inherently flawed outside of a major stax meta.

Just in case this part is unclear to people, when you win a krark flip, you immediately resolve the copy before continuing to flip. I’m not 100% sure but i think that casting the copy is part of the ability resolving, so nobody has a chance to interact Again until the copy is already on the stack.

Hi, this is Jason from the video and the resident judge for the channel. I'm a little unsure about the wording you're using here so I'm going to walk through the process of resolving Krark triggers to see if this clarifies the issue you see. When you cast an instant or sorcery with Krark in play, the triggers go onto a stack and a round of priority starts. Once priority clears, you resolve the ability and start another round of priority. It doesn't matter if Krark flips heads or tails, there's another round of priority. Most players shortcut tails though since nothing really happened and the initial spell on the stack is now in hand. The reason why this round of priority matters is for when Krark flips heads and copies the spell. Krark's ability puts the copy onto the stack but doesn't immediately resolve the copies. There's a round of priority to respond to each trigger before Krark flips a coin and before each copy of the spell resolves. When you have multiple Krarks in play, you resolve each trigger one at a time. If a copy is created while another Krark trigger is on the stack, you need to resolve the copy first before resolving the other copies (a time consuming process but necessary to not shortcut for decisions like when I used Counterspell on Abrade). Now that we've walked through this, I'm unsure of what's the area of confusion or mistake we made during gameplay. I reviewed each time players responded to Krark triggers or a copy. Matt responded to Krark's triggers at 7:31, so before Krark gets to flip coins. I responded to the Abrade changing targets due to Deflecting Swat changing targets at 8:00. We said this wrong during the voiceover and shortcut this a little in the recording. New targets for Deflecting Swat are chosen on resolution, not cast. Most players will declare their intended targets during the cast, which is what Ethan did here. So technically I was responding to the copy of Deflecting Swat on the stack and not the resolved copy already changing Abrade's target 8:00. That's a minor mistake on our part that doesn't actually change how this stack would resolve as I needed to both protect the Thrasios to try to win next turn and hope the next flip was heads to copy Deflecting Swat and fizzle the initial copy to protect my Flusterstorm when I would go for the win on my turn. So if this is the part where you're finding an issue, it's a Deflecting Swat issue, not a Krark issue. I hope this clarifies the situation but if there's another issue or I missed what you were commenting on, please let me know.

@@SiusBleach sorry for my statements not being clear, i wasnt calling attention to any mistake or anything like that. Just trying to be sure that people who might be brewing k&s know that in the event of multiple krark triggers, a successful coin flip must have its copied spell put onto the stack and (assuming theres no interaction from players) resolve before continuing to flip for other krark triggers. That way, you dont have someone cast a lightning bolt, check to see how much damage they COULD deal, THEN declare targets for all copies of bolt at once, once they know they can kill the creature or player they want to. I also intended to make them aware that (to the best of my knowledge) there was not a point between resolving a krark trigger (flipping the coin) and putting the spell/copy on the stack or returning it to hand because that would be a part of the ability resolving. Once again, sorry for any lack of clarity or misinterpreted intentions, you guys do a really good job of explaining whats going on and have generally tight gameplay patterns (no kingmaking and no major and obvious misplays or when there is a misplay you call attention to it and tell if it impacted the game significantly). Keep up the good work

@@connorl0204 Ok, thank you for clarifying and for the kind words. We appreciate it when fans look out for our misplays/misunderstanding and can use them as opportunities for growth. Krark creates some complex rules interactions so sometimes it's hard for me to understand what somebody is wanting to know or in this case point out. Thank you again for the comment and we're glad you're enjoying our content :)
