The Style Evolution of Tyler, the Creator

Tyler the Creator is preparing to release his new album Call Me If You Get Lost, so now is as good a time as any to step back and look at how his sense of fashion has changed over the course of his career. He is widely considered to be one of the best dressed rappers, and in this episode of Threaducation we’re going to be looking at how he started off wearing streetwear brands like Supreme, launched his own Odd Future merch line, founded Golf Wang, hosted his own fashion show, created Golf Le Fleur, partnered with the likes of Vans and Converse, and so much more. We’ll even talk about my theory regarding the inspiration for his recent aesthetic, as it is seen in the LUMBERJACK music video, early images of Tyler Baudelaire, and other elements of the Call Me If You Get Lost album rollout. I have a suggestion, it’s a strange one, but I’m curious to hear/watch your take on Lil B in fashion.. he was anti-fashion, but he set so many trends that shan’t be overlooked. He pioneered the entire skinny jeans, fitting shirts, and the beat up skater vans.. then transitioning into his obscure taste in earrings, his pink bandanna.. I know it’s not something you’d be too interested in doing, especially the direction this channel has went thus far.. just a strange request I have.

Tyler, Mac and Rocky really changed not only the music landscape of the early 2010 but they also made an impact in fashion in their own individual way. Rocky with the all black and white stuff, Mac with the vintage and snapbacks and Tyler with his crazy colors and prints and supreme.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s noticed his style evolution. I really enjoy the direction he’s gone in. He’s always been very adamant about creative control and so to see him basically design and wear his own clothes to suit his aesthetic is inspiring. Color and material have always been important to him so it’s great to see him apply this to things like loafers, sweaters, jewelry and the like.
