I would say bulls...t as suddently a new rock has grown from who knows where. They don't care about continuity at Funcom i guess, it's not a big deal but it's quite ridiculous. If in the future someone will build a new fort, why not just place the stuff in the middle of the ruins. This rock hurts my feelings, i'm gonna have a nervous breakdown i think!!

From what I have been hearing I think it may be a new fortress the Stygian are arecting that will come into play when we get the chapter where we can lay siege to NPC bases like they mentioned.

I like the idea but I feel like they're viewing the eclipse and similar effects as a sort of sacred thing, where events like that should strictly only ever be tied to story events. I wouldn't be surprised if more happens with the skybox in the future

Yes. If the eclipse happened once and in-game week or so and while it was on the Exiled Lands went full dark magic mayhem. Like the storm on Siptah. Interesting events and beasts and thralls to capture. Rare material drops. Might be a good way to get Eldarium into the Exiled Lands.

Yeah I wouldn't mind it occasionally, though I feel like they're probably gonna do more things with the skybox in the future, it was definitely a powerful storytelling tool. I wouldn't be surprised to see it again in the future

@@Eradicati0nn Indeed. Much of the apparatus that sorcery employs is very established and refined for the lack of better words. Many instruments that sorcery requires are quite fancy and artistic in their design, from the golem assembly station, to the circles of power, and then the sacrificial stone is just a slab of stone. Most other sorcery structures already have cosmetic alternatives

Hehe, I didn't expect Mek-Kamoses to still be talkative, but then again, he's a powerful dark sorcerer, learned in Kurak's brand of sorcery. I really liked the eclipse effect. They could've left it in game, but make it appear once every 5-6 nights or something. But I'm sad they removed Ruins of Al-Merayah. It was a shout out for their horror-themed MMO "The Secret World", in which the ancient, bygone ages of humanity were crucial to the plot (the locust monsters are also the exact same things from "The Secret World" as are few item descriptions).

I didn't actually know that about the ruins of al-Merayah. I've only ever heard Ceronesthes talk about The Secret World so I know very little of it

I'm wonder if this age will finally see a dungeon located at West Watch Keep in one of the later chapters. Perhaps it will be the fortress of a Stygian general that has a critical item or information that will be needed or at least aid players in carrying out PVE raids.

I think the background art on the Battle Pass Page is depicting the fortress they plan to build. It shows their march from the swamps, across to New Asgard and eventually arriving at the ruins to start construction.

It's Conan. I read almost all the Conan novels (some 100 books) and this is his signature move: he charges in, pwns everyone stupid enough to cross the swords with him, destroys whatever malignant sorcerer/evil spirit/cosmic horror is present, saves the victim and saunters off into the sunset, leaving everything looking like Mek-Kamoses' spire. It was impiled he was designated by gods as a weapon against all the dark magic and supernatural horrors from beyond, infesting Hyboria.

I believe they will in the future, though I think if they're gonna do an expansion like that, they're probably gonna give it a bit more time for development. In retrospect, when I predicted an expansion, I might not have factored in how much time it would take to develop a fully fleshed out area that also fits a story event

The upper north-east of the map contains the dungeons. The reason they don’t place them ‘at location’ might be because there’s a global water-surface spanning the whole map. And they have some water-cubes for the rivers elseweyr. That’s the reason for the upper limit of how many dungeons they can cram onto the map.

@@NorseGraphic Dennis (lead designer) has said before that not all of the dungeons are in the north-east, and a map expansion is possible in the future. They can do it, I suppose it depends on relocating whatever dungeons are there, along with obviously the dev time to make that expansion and make it worthwhile with content

@@Eradicati0nn I didn't want to upset you guys, but I personally watched one of the developers' streams when they released the Age of Magic. One of the audience's questions was about the expansion of the Land of the Exiles, to which Denis answered that they would not be able to do this, unfortunately, just because of the presence of a dungeon map in that area and some other technical features of the game mechanics. There will also never be new mechanics related to water, boats, ships.. The answer was given a long time ago, and if they could do it, they would have done it.Adding a new piece of land to an old map is easier than making a new map from scratch.Unfortunately, this is reality.

I've just found the actual citation for the map expansion clip, it's from a question I asked during the Chapter 2 stream, in which Dennis confirms a map expansion is possible in the future, though it could also be used as new dungeon space, and there were concerns about console memory. Funcom missed an AMAZING chance to have Mek's death be a playable event. Go talk to Conan and he mentions he is going to go kill a sorcerer and asks if you wanna tag along, click yes, goes to a load screen then starts the event of killing mek, stopping the ritual, and saving the princess.

I kinda agree, but at the same time I don't. The player character is kinda neutral, and seeing as they've aided Mek up to this point, tagging along with Conan to kill Mek wouldn't make too much sense. I think there are probably two reasons they've chosen to tell the story as they have. The first is that limited-time events are a kinda sour point for newer players, sorta like "oh this cool stuff happened before. You can't see it though". I kinda get that, though I do think some real-time events would be cool. The other reason is that the player character is basically irrelevant, one of many, many other Exiles, and thus kinda drifts between things, without enough sway to properly join with Conan, Mek etc. I think there are better ways to tell stories like this, I'm just not 100% certain on which is the optimal choice

@@Eradicati0nn I mean, Conan has been irrelevant in the whole game other than removing you from the cross. It would have been a good nod towards the title character. I dont mind world events happening in game that affect gameplay. Its needed. Makes the player feel like they actually matter to the overall story. As long as they dont lock any rewards earned(like they did by having sorcerers drop the Skelos master armor even though there was an event that had it as a drop)to only that event I see no issue with them. Hell, make it have no reward or consequence for joining or not joining, just make it something to do. Add a little cutscene after of you and Conan save the princess and him thanking you for the help and him saying he'll be back at the bar.

Those particular shots are pretty easy to do. I use console commands to shrink my FOV, then get as close as possible to the subject. I usually end up using Ghost Mode so my body can clip through the terrain, letting me get closer

Well Mek's story is far from over, and the Ruins of Al-Merayah were just an NPC camp. You will have missed some stuff if you've only just bought it tho, such is the nature of live service games

I would much prefer it if Ages / Chapters / Seasons / whatever could be chosen at will, changing the world accordingly. That way players who miss a chapter for whatever reason and new players would have access to it. It would even make sense for Funcom: Not only do they not invest time, resources and money in short lived content, but they could also keep selling their battlepasses over time instead of just only the newest one. fomo passes only work so long.

Yeah it definitely got a little old towards the end of the chapter, though it was a very good storytelling device. It's best that they've removed it as its started to get old, as opposed to letting it overstay its welcome too much. I don't recall the Princess saying anything about where she's from, I've only spoken to her once, but she very much could be. I feel like we'll learn more in the future

So here's the thing I don't know what in the heck happened, but I play on single player on my Xbox series X and a few weeks back there was what I would assume was a hot fix update that my console had for conan exiles and ever since I downloaded that update I have no longer had the eclipse. My game has been back to regular nights.

The eclipse never did anything for me. Never got an event from it. After hours upon hours, not once. In fact, I had to look up why they put them in in the first place because it just felt odd that there was no night, just eclipses.

Skulls will remain I think, though the merchant caravans are going away. It'd be best to spend any obolus you have now, the merchants will remain in AoW Chapter 1, but you can't earn new obolus after that point

Sorcerer carts were only intended to be a Chapter 2 feature, like a temporary event, however they stuck around until Chapter 3. I don't think you can sell your skulls anymore, though you can still get obolus from Kurak's Lair

You could farm some legendary weapons, thralls and gear pieces by gathering Obolus and trading with the guys at Mek's Spire, but aside from that I think you're good

Yeah it's entirely gone, you won't see it again unless it comes back in a future story event, or if there is a mod that re-enables it

@@jameshill2098 find NPC Sorcerers at camps (readily identified by their dark robes) and kill them. they usually carry a map that'll lead you to where you need to go to begin learning Sorcery.

You gotta visit a cave along the river that leads north. I’m the cave you interact with the tome and then you learn how to build the table that lets you upgrade the book/learn spells

They're still there, though I don't think there is a way to actually gain obolus now. They're probably still there so you can spend any Obolus you have left over

If you're on official servers or singleplayer, you're fine. The devs have said they'll never wipe the servers unless they have no other choice. If you're on an unofficial server, the admins there might have different rules about wipes
