@Lasca342 жыл бұрын
Is ja'n dolles Ding!
@ober-lander1965 Жыл бұрын

I've always thought the 10 wheel (Decapod) arrangement was better on European RR because it allowed smaller dia wheels and more rail contact/traction. In the USA we tried for more speed because of distances and used larger dia wheels. Thanks for the video very well done.
@cogidubnus19533 жыл бұрын
My understanding was that in the UK the Great Eastern Decapod was supposedly introduced to produce a rate of acceleration to match electric underground trains - but never achieved much in practice...I say supposedly, as the real object was to deter the running of a rival railway into London by demonstrating it was unnecessary...it was quite short lived

We had Locomotives with small wheels for the freight trains and with large wheels for passenger trains .
@shroomzed2947 Жыл бұрын
The U.S. moved on from the decapod to the Santa Fe (2-10-2) configuration pretty quickly due to larger grate area. In Europe, firing rates weren’t as high as they were on American locomotives, so the 2-10-0 (1’E on the continent) was largely sufficient.
