Honestly the most impressive part is the dedication to the series and the story over literally years. A lot can change in that amount of time, many a series that took this long to animate have been abandoned way before this point or went off the rails from the original intention. I find it amazing that amongst all his real life priorities that keep him from spending 24/7 on this, that he still makes time for it and puts it out into the world for us to enjoy. There might even have been a time where he quietly could have just never finished it and a few hundred people would be sad and it would be all forgotten like so many other fan projects. Instead not only is it still going its still very good, and only getting better. That makes the wait all worthwhile.

Hell, even having the time skip and showing Squirtle as the sole surviving stater, and turning to defy the gods themselves, shows progression of the show itself, which is amazing. At this point, anything is possible, and it feels rewarding. Character development is overrated. It's nothing unless the world evolves with you. Narrative development is paramount, and this show has so much of it.

Charmander had so many plot lines that are unresolved and Bulbasaur didn't have a single one so I'd say he succeeded in making their deaths feel as unsatisfactory as possible which from a narrative point of view is perfect for character deaths.

If Charmander is indeed coming back, Squirtle will have to learn that it just isn't solely about himself in the team. Throughout this series, Charmander is slowly changing for the better but Squirtle does nothing much to appreciate the efforts and even ended up getting his very "friend" killed. The fact that he got Chimchar and Turtwig as nothing more than simply "replacements" for Charmander and Bulbasaur(which Turtwig found out about it and leaving the team), it's obvious that he hasn't really changed much at all. Unless Squirtle has really learn his lesson, turning back time probably won't help much since he probably gonna end up getting his pal Charmander killed or leaving him for dead again. P.S I hope Bulbasaur is still alive somewhere. But I really doubt it...

I just watched episode ten and i thought charmander actually didnt die and was still alive but im kinda sad to see him gone ive been watching this since i was about 7 or 6 and ive grown attached to the story.
