Honestly the most impressive part is the dedication to the series and the story over literally years. A lot can change in that amount of time, many a series that took this long to animate have been abandoned way before this point or went off the rails from the original intention. I find it amazing that amongst all his real life priorities that keep him from spending 24/7 on this, that he still makes time for it and puts it out into the world for us to enjoy. There might even have been a time where he quietly could have just never finished it and a few hundred people would be sad and it would be all forgotten like so many other fan projects. Instead not only is it still going its still very good, and only getting better. That makes the wait all worthwhile.

Hell, even having the time skip and showing Squirtle as the sole surviving stater, and turning to defy the gods themselves, shows progression of the show itself, which is amazing. At this point, anything is possible, and it feels rewarding. Character development is overrated. It's nothing unless the world evolves with you. Narrative development is paramount, and this show has so much of it.

Charmander had so many plot lines that are unresolved and Bulbasaur didn't have a single one so I'd say he succeeded in making their deaths feel as unsatisfactory as possible which from a narrative point of view is perfect for character deaths.

If it took him 2 years to make an episode that is 17 minutes, then him making all 3 episodes at once that are each longer than the one that came before it would mean waiting at least 6 or 7 years. It’s even more wrong when he is saying on multiple platforms that episode 10 is in production, and only 10. Anything else is just a fantasy. The only way production would speed up is if he got more support on his patreon, so he could hire some people to assist him with work. And with episode 10 turning out to be a nice episode, it seems like that may happen.
