Resolder the big black current sensing resistors on the board, or if you are game add another resistor on top 0.02 ohms.

If Australia is the original factory, then the Australian company should take notice and file a case against those who are selling their company's genuine product wrongly

The electronics is different, the software is different, it is a different brand and different product identifier, is it passing off or is it not?

@@DetectorMods For example, in my country, the gpx 5000, which is sold as original and said to be imported from Malaysia, is very difficult to ground balance for some reason and sometimes it does not work at all. I think someone either made a super clone or most of the ones produced in Malaysia are faulty. For example, the highest ground balance does not exceed RX GAIN 13 level.

Serial numbers, check with reputable Minelab dealer.

Maybe if they are knock-offs, getting them modded makes them look more legitimate on the re-sale market. Other idea is they are made legitimately but in different factories. A brand of Inverters I repair has the same model made in China and India. On close inspection, you often see subtle differences.

They are all soldered in an oven , not much hand soldering.

4:25 they are different colors also. One is a slightly lighter, less vivid blue! . Maybe you can go on a factor tour? Or Atleast a virtual/video tour!

Wait, you mean the 5000's are not made in Australia? I thought all Minelabs were made in Oz. Well that's a kick in the nuggets.

Been made in the Plexus factory in Malaysia for at least 10 years now.

been told the cheap chinese knockoffs have no rubber seal on case, plus red minelab logo is more maroon than red.

Maybe ya just gota show up on Minelabs front porch like a wet lost puppy dog and see if they take you in for a tour and video back to us and see what they say. Maybe apply for some entry level job like the janitor or something. I think if we spray some Cuvray in your hair (to darken it up a bit) and get you a grey or blue collard long sleve uniform shirt... I think we could pass you off as a real hard working go getter! Heck... I think I'II go with you! I could wash the windows... while you take a big snoop around!

@@DetectorMods well I have a great deal of respect for all of the engineers at Minelab and everyone else hard at work developing modern metal detectors... and especially people like yourself who are able to take what has been already created and make it even better! I sure hope your house is OK!
