Guys a few things to note about the 6000. For max depth, threshold ON all the time. Also Auto+ can be good for searching around but when testing like this, there is no consistency as you don't know what level it is actually on. Lastly, keep in mind that the 6000 is in tracking all the time. If you repeatedly narrow sweep over a deep borderline target, the signal response will diminish. So give the coil a few pumps off to the side, then go over the target. Happy hunting!
@joc1862
@joc1862 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, all agreed.... it was just surprising on how just turning the machines on, assuming that they were already set up for max performance from a previous hunt, the 5 initially responded better than both the 6 and the 7 on the bullet target.

Aluminium would be a more realistic target than lead as far as a true representation of gold when gold isn't being used as the test object, if you wrap the bullet in foil and do the test again it will most likely be a more accurate test. I am not being critical of your test but give it a go and please let me know what you think. ie; so if you crunch and shape the foil in your hand until it has the equivalent surface area of the nugget size you are testing for, that should be a more accurate test. Cheers and dig more nuggies.👍

@@TheWazza60 sorry to be critical, but I wouldn’t say that lead is a poor choice compared to aluminum in terms of mimicking gold. In fact the density of lead is closer to that of gold than aluminum is, which has an effect of the rate of decay on your receiving signal. So if anything, lead should mimic better.

12x8 evo is a hot coil no doubt, but can be real noisy in hot variable ground. Like to see some comparisons on some real digs with various machines in play, constant tracking on the 6K makes these sorts of tests a bit iffy. still interesting none the less!

@@joc1862 The main advantage of the new detectors seems to be the ergonomics. The SD's were so heavy and clumsy with wires to the battery and heaphones. In the almost 20 years since the SD 2000 I would have expected a doubling of depth perception and complete ferrous rejection by now. Sigh.

@joc1862
@joc1862 3 жыл бұрын
The 3030 is mainly used for coins and relics. A very good, deep machine but can be a bit complicated to use. The 5000 is used for gold nugget hunting. Again, very good, deep searching machine and not as expensive as the later GPZ7000 and GPX6000. I am not familiar with the Relic Striker. I think it is a VLF machine which is mainly used for coins and relics. Depends on what you are searching for as to what you choose...

@joc1862
@joc1862 3 жыл бұрын
The 6000 in the video is my mate's. I don't own one so I can't test that out. However, the 11" coil is a monoloop and the target centre is probably around where the label is, which means it is less sensitive at the front, but should still read a target. Take it back to your dealer if you consider it faulty.

You're right. With diminishing gold, the closing off of gold areas and high fuel costs, there's no point investing thousands of dollars on new machines that may only find specks. Unfortunately, if you have 'gold fever' you do it anyway. It's a great hobby and good healthy exercise... even finding a speck makes your day....

Sounds good. I've never had a chance to try the aftermarket coil on the SDC. Don't forget, the bullet in our test was on the end of the rod facing down at 60 deg. - almost end on, not showing a great deal of surface area.

@@joc1862 I am not sure but it seems to me that having it on a 60 angle would reduce the depth. My bullets have been buried for 2 1/2 years so slight Halo might be forming. I'm not able to hit the 9 1/2 gram at 16" with this machine. How ever I have found more gold with my SDC then I did my 7000 or my 45 hundreds. I'm in the gold basin in Arizona and it has been hammered hard by everything.

@@jamestrombley386 Yes, end on reduces depth of detection. The SDC is very popular here too, especially in outback Australian places like Tibooburra where there are (were) tiny nuggets scattered everywhere. Like your gold basin in Arizona, every goldfield here had also been hit hard with everything. The new 6000 seems to be getting good results though - maybe because new machines always encourage a renewed flurry of activity?

@@joc1862 I have also added the steel phase signal enhancer. Helps a great deal with the wind out here 50 to 60 mile an hour gusts. I've been watching outback gold fever running the new nugget finder Z coil on their gpz 7000. There plucking gold out of areas the they thought were worked out. Mostly sub gram nuggets but they all add up. The SDC does well on big gold to. I found a 23.5 gram nugget and a 24 g specimen peace with about 19 g gold in it. I have to admit I do miss my 7000 though. Have fun be safe out there. Not sure about the outback but everything here in the deserts is trying to poke you cut you stab you or eat you. There are 13 different types of rattlesnakes in Arizona not mention all the poisonous crawling things.

@@jamestrombley386 Yes, Steel Phase popular here also. You've done well finding those bigger pieces. I haven't found anything that size for years - mainly sub grammers these days. We don't have too many things in our outback trying to eat you - we encounter the odd brown or tiger snake, but rarely. Worst thing in our bush, I know from experience, are the inch ants - their sting is terrible and they are aggressive!
