And a well cared for and lubricated chain, eventually a special lightweight chain, will give less weight! I use special graphite oil. Finn. Denmark

Happy New year everyone and thanks Chris for the name check. Fame at last LOL. Thank you also for the advice on the tyres. My Brompton has been indoors for three months and I forgot about turning the wheels around to avoid flat spots. And I really should get it off the ground too. I appreciate your help.

Hi Slicedpage Your video idea was great. I've tried to find information about the best gear setting for the Hub gear, but I couldn't find any information about it The goal is not to stress the cables and tyres. To take out of the floor is a very good idea. Great to have you on board!

As a Dane we are used to have to protect our cars against the salt, which is used to keep ice away from the roads during our cold winter season. And we use brands of rust-protection oil, also sprayed inside the cars body. For minor jobs you are able to find a can of oil with a tube, which may spray oil inside the Brompton frame and by that also down the tubes to the crank! My fork and back-frame on my "Superlight" bike are from titanium, as also my Chinese seat post, so I'm not scared of those, besides inside my stem post! But a Chinese firm intend to make a stem post for Brompton, from carbon, and I expect them to give me a notice, when they are ready to sell them! It will also give an extra, less weight, so from my present 9,35 kilo, with mudguards, I may come further down (So honestly, why use more than double the price for a full titanium bike and with less gears than mine?). Also a new carbon handlebar and some minor parts to hold my mudguards stays from carbon will give some extra, less weight. Finn. Denmark 😁

@@ChrisbyBike I have tried a Brand, carbon seat post, but which was different along its length, so I had to change the tension when used. At least my two, black titanium seat posts have a constant diameter. One 600 mm with a ring mount on top, for the saddle and one 535 mm standard version, black Brompton seat post, which is actually too short for my hight, but folds with the bike, as it should be able to do, and not to be pulled out of the frame by a thief! I never leave it alone, so it doesn't matter! Finn. Denmark

@@ChrisbyBike It was a "brand", carbon post, so I am amazed by the lack of "quality control", as it needed adjustment along its length, during use (I use a nice, large brass "finger screw" for this, on my bike. When loose, it is uncomplicated to make adjustments, even with your fingers only!). As nearly a first I had bought a 600 mm (original length on my Scandinavian Market bike!) titanium post with an integrated ring on top, for the saddle, which also save weight, from the heavy and complicated, original Brompton clamp! But as I also wanted to be able to put it directly into my expensive German, B&W luggage box (For a Brompton, with US type, Custom control locks and a band around + 4 wheels for transport in an airport! Also an extendable handle for rolling it round in those) so I found an original black type 535 mm seat post, just made from titanium! It has a very solid feel and the price, from China, is about the same as an original seat post from England. Finn. Denmark

Hi Finn Carl Bomholt Sørensen I like the Titanium Seatpost. I think it is a perfect material for seatpost. On the road bikes I've seen a lots of carbon seatpost brake with time. Titanium is stronger. Like it! Nice to have you on board!
