That 600 is a very compelling rifle. Using a "little" bit of ekstra powder to compensate for a short barrel seems like a win in this instance. Good to see you back. Realy enjoy your videos!

Rem was using Douglass barrels on some sticks back then. Plus being short and with that rib on there should be a good chooter. Nice stuff.....

They were not Douglas. A LONG time ago(in the 60's) Hart supplied them with some of their Stainless barrels

I also shoot a 150 Barnes, TSX though, in one of my Tikka 300WSMs using superformance. Got one deer so far with it

@@north61 Great. She was maybe 50 yards. That's a lot of power at that distance. Of course it passed through. She rant about 20 yards. Nice internal tennis ball sized wound channel

I still kick myself for turning down a GREAT deal on a 6.5 Rem Mag 600 in 1991.... I have that "pounder" stock on my 35 Whelen. Its a GOODUN!!

@@north61 My 6.5/06 beats it in ballistics. BUT its 10.5# and 25" bbl!! So, yea!! Its ballistics are close to my 7/08. Just zero'd today with new Optic. 120g 2890 fps and 139's 2785 fps. .607 for 120's and .879 for the 139's. Its a CHEAP Savage I restocked and pillar bedded in Boyds laminated.

@@cw2a I also have a 660, 6.5 Rem Mag I re-barrelled with a 23" medium weight barrel. 250+ft/sec increase but it's about as handy as a fence post.

I have a 660 and have taken a fair bit of game with it back in the day. The 600 in 350 RM I sold.
