The way okc played last night was phenomenal, holding Luka to just 2 points through 28 minutes of game time is completely unheard of, I truly think they’ll win the chip this year as long as Chet and Hartenstein are both available.

I'm a Mavs fan and 100% of my interaction with Thunder fans is on X, and as you know that tends to be the most toxic version of a fanbase. So I have to say your video was refreshing and you seem to have as much respect for my Mavs as I (and a lot of Mavs fans not on X) have for your Thunder. Both teams are incredible in different ways, and I hope we both make the WCF because it might be the best one in decades. Unfortunately on Tuesday night the Mavs as a whole had a pretty bad game. Of course I attribute a lot of that to the Thunder's defense and intensity. OKC was playing the game like it was a playoff game, and I don't think the Mavs were wanting to compete like that. I'm not saying that in any way to discredit or make an excuse for the Mavs. We played bad, OKC played well, it is what it is. But you could definitely tell Luka and Kyrie did not want to fight in that game like it was a playoff game, Luka barely even tried to fight Dort off the dribble. Anyways, this series is going to be awesome for a while Edit: the NBA isn't pushing the rivalry because they are completely oblivious to want fans actually want, same reason why they continue doing dumb things and pushing crap no one wants (like LA) then wonder why viewership is dropping lol.
@pinobluevogel64582 күн бұрын
For real I agree with most of this statement, I just have a bit of issue with the inconsistancy with calling physical play. The refs really don't care if Dort is hanging on another player, being incredibly physical all game. His first foul wasn't called until somewhere in the 3rd quarter, which was a bit baffling considering how he plays all game. I don't mind him playing hard defense, but there are limits to what you can do on the court. He straight up stepped into Ingram's landing zone, causing him to be injured until somewhere in Januari, which is not on purpose of course, but still playing dangerously is not something I enjoy seeing on the court. I sure hope Dort sends a big bouquet of flowers to BI to make up for this lost time.

True, although that loss was due to the fact their center that game was 6'5 to where as Dallas had two 7 footers. Yesterday was a legitimate game that both teams were very motivated to win and they won without their third best player in Chet and an important backup big in JayWill. Yeah I'm feeling pretty comfy they are superior to the Mavs this year after their upgrades and (IMO) Dallas's downgrades with getting Klay and losing DJ Jr.

To be fair, the Mavs played like ass this game. They rebounded horribly, clearly the lack of PJ Washington is not great to have against a team where he traditionally does very well against. The Thunder are so incredibly physical, which the refs refuse to call all game, which really goes under your skin as they were calling smaller fouls on the Mavs in return. Luka was incredibly underwhelming, but at least Kyrie was servicable. I think the Thunder got away with this game quite fortunately, which is sad as the in-season tournament is now over for the Mavs. I don't see the rivalry here, it was mostly a shit game with very little excitement and no energy in the players being agitated. If anything, they were frustrated with the refs instead of the Thunder players, which was perfectly understandable, as most of the players involved probably think they did a shit job calling this game. I'm not saying it is a disgrace to NBA or anything like that, but it was certainly one of the most forgettable games this year, which could have been a great one to start off this in-season tournament on the right note.

It's not an excuse, I wish Luka would just deal with it and match the intensity sometimes, but he seemed completely resigned in just getting through the game more than trying to really win it. Please OKC fans don't take that as a slight, your team played great and you get your flowers for the win. I'm not discrediting how Dort played or anything. Regardless of that, I'm convinced that the combination of a very strong defensive gameplan, combined with very strong defensive personell on the roster, makes OKC a defensive powerhouse, officiating or not. And add to that Shai alone can basically carry an offense by himself, so with all the spacing around him, they are also a very strong offensive team and a true contender, despite people not recognizing them as much.

To be fair their depth is already pretty fine. They just lost 3 of their wings that normally play minutes, 2 to sickness and 1 to an injury. Grimes severely underperformed, as did Dinwiddie, but they got some good minutes from O-Max, while having another excellent performance from Naji and Kyrie was still very efficient. Both have legit been the most important, consistant pieces on the mavs for quite some time now. Why does everyone wanna be rivals with luka? First the clippers, then the suns, now okc. Like geez get off luka meat looking for praise anytime he loses just like lebron haters
