Can you do an up cycle with a difficult fabric like silk? I love going to the thrift store and finding quality fabrics that would otherwise be pricy but I don't trust myself to alter them for fear of ruining them 😓

A really cool way to both reduce grey in your wardrobe and go on an adventure would be to try out natural plant dyes (like walnut or indigo)! I'd love to see you give it a go!

Dip some grey pieces in a dye bath? If the color is intense or bright enough it can look really cool in my experience.

I love the synched top! But i have a few questions. When you said you did a zig zag stitch for the ruffles, did you mean all the way around on the top and bottom?? Or just a little bit at the opening near the channels?. Also, what happens to the ruffles at the channels? I know you said to not sew there, so should the end of the ruffles end just before the stitches u put to create the channels? If you have extra ruffles, do you just cut the excess off? Lastly, for the “strings” in the channels, was it just one long string looped at the top? I can’t really tell. Sorry for all the questions but I hope someone can answer them because I’d really love to make this top!! :)

Even though I may be older than most of your viewers, I love your ideas and how-tos which help me with alot of projects! Question: Sewing a straight stitch on knit? I thought that was a big no-no. Once stretched wont the stitches break? So did you use a small stitch length and higher tension?

Maybe you should get a tube turner maybe not but you definitely need a bodkin. I bought a bodkin and it changed my life. sometimes there is an invention that changes the world and for me it is a bodkin (and a tofu press).

I’d make thicker straps for me though just because I like thicker straps. I’m not much of a spaghetti strap kind of person.

Love how these turned out! What technique do you like to use to finish the ends of the straps? Do you just put down a straight stitch across once you turned them right side out or do you close it up by hand? I usually find mine to look a bit untidy at the end! Thanks :)

I didn’t really understand the part (second top) where you added a zigzag stitch to keep the ruffles standing, and I am struggling with that now making this top, can you explain how and where? Thank you 😘

Hi Sara! I'm just making this top too, and I think the zigzag stitches the ruffle/top seam allowance folded down to the top side, not the ruffle side. This should make the whole ruffle fabric parallel to the main top body and it should stand up. Hope this helps you!
