Friend of mine about two years ago walked into a Thrift store in Minnesota, was just, casually looking for a point and shoot for a trip, came across a Leica hard case for $35, opened it and inside was two M4s and four lenses. he then saw a soft Leica bag and found a M6, with two more lenses, that was $20. $55 and some change....the man has three M bodies and seven lenses. I don't know man. They're out there.

i agree 100% on the fact that photos that are printed take on a whole new life, both positively and negatively too. sometimes printing a photo will make you realize that the photo doesn't work either colors or compositions... and other times it can take a seemingly mediocre photo and push it to the awesome level. one of my life goals is to have a series of photos enlarged in a darkroom but having only very recently gotten back into photography i need to shoot a lot and get rid of the 15 years of rust before i can start taking that next step.

After that song came out, Polaroid released a statement telling users to not shake it like a Polaroid picture. You’re supposed to just leave it in a dark place to develop.

The thrift stores in my area have caught onto the value of cameras and are now auctioning them off (eBay- style). The online classifieds have some great deals. I just picked up a great Canon FDn 50mm f1.4 for $50 CAD ($35USD). I just missed out on getting a nice Contax III rangefinder for $20. FML, I didn't reply to the seller fast enough.
@MythicalHex4 жыл бұрын
everyone in the country I live in either use a local eBay like site or go to a local chain that does pawning and stuff, second hand stores here don't have a whole lot in general, and some are picky with what they'll sell.
@koltinsullivan4 жыл бұрын
Exactly! The prices at my local thrift stores here in Los Angeles have prices higher than the used market. Flea markets in Pasadena / Melrose have prices marked up as well, makes the cost higher than eBay or Keh.

You never had to shake Polaroid pictures. The only shaking that did anything was with peel apart film to get airflow over it after it drying. Shaking to mix chemicals is a fallacy. If I'm wrong please correct me.

I print my work all the time and its so much better it adds something else to it i dont know but i love it it also help me adjsut my editing cuz i found my pictures were to dark and my colors were a lil off printing has taken my photography up a knotch i love getting my prints and having a physical hard copy then adding a frame it somthing else. Im glad to hear someone saying it having your i ages soley online is sad its waisted all the megapixels and highlights and shadows no matter how good your camera is and fresh you edit is it all goes to waist when you post it to fb IG or snap or whatever there compression algorithms just murder the details kills the colors and definition. Then you print it and like oooh damn that looks siick.

The best thrift store or estate sale find I've had was a final run Zeiss contarex super. I was at an estate sale in central park south and I saw a camera listed as "does not work - $25". I didn't even bargain. I paid in full, went back home, and found it to be almost completely unused and still working. I made a video about the camera and its lens on my channel. I love the camera, but I also know that using it or even looking at it the wrong way, could make everything go sproing... But the rarity of this camera ranks as my best purchase.

I'm pretty sure you weren't supposed to shake Polaroids, even back in the day. It was mostly a misunderstanding that shaking it made it appear faster and dry
@GregoryVeizades4 жыл бұрын
The misunderstanding comes from the transition from peel apart Polaroid film to integral film that we know today. After peeling apart the package one could gently shake it to get airflow over it to get the still wet surface to dry a bit faster. But you are correct shaking it was never necessary. Especially not to mix chemical.
