That would be the point. It always amazes me how many people go to box and retail stores instead of spending a day hopping from thrift store to thrift store.

I have a 9 drawer dresser and mirror of this style, I have had it since I was young, my parents bought it for one of the bedrooms in 1960, there was a 2nd one for the other bedroom and it was not in as good of shape but, still not bad, but given to a cousin in the 90's and she lost it in a move. The legs you used are close to the original legs, but they usually didn't have the metal on the bottom, the little dresser looked really good when you were done

Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included kzbin.infoUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

Yes, in my experience they have less fumes. I've used water based polyurethane and water based lacquer and they are both less smelly than their non-water based versions.

Thanks for the video, is there a rule of thumb about the weight limit of a dresser for legs such as these? I am wanting to do the same thing with a dresser I have thrifted, yet am worried it may be too heavy for legs.
@boa1793 Жыл бұрын
That is so funny because with my aesthetic those spindly little legs coming out at angles (as was the style of the time) from a rectangular form just rubs me wrong way. I know, I’m snotty. Please forgive me.

Have watched several of the videos in this series and noted the use of a syringe with a needle for injecting glue into joints too tight to be dispensed straight from the bottle. This seems brilliant; I am newly interested in this subject and have little experience so far, so it may be a common practice I've just never seen. Curious about two things related to this: One, what type of glue do you typically use? I have used both Titebond II and Gorilla Wood Glue and been pleased with both, when applied properly and clamped sufficiently. Two, how do you clean the syringe to keep the glue from gumming up the syringe and needle? I know most wood glues can be cleaned up with soap and water, but what's your routine for this and how quickly do you have to clean it?
@DashnerDesignRestoration5 жыл бұрын
I use titebond II in the syringe. I just clean it with warm water right after I use it. I don't even use soap. The warm water works well. Thanks for the question.

I'm pretty sure this is a dumb question but I'm really new @ this, but can you strip laminate? I bought a set of drawers from the thrift store and a lot of it is covered in laminate or plastic. It shows little signs of aging and was wondering how I could fix it up a little.
@DashnerDesignRestoration7 жыл бұрын
Hello, You wouldn't strip laminate because it doesn't have any finish on it to strip off. If you want to change the look you could glue wood veneer over the laminate. I'm working on a video where I do this to a laminate table top. Stay tuned!
