I had my son 17 months ago and I have learned babies do not need a lot. Food, diapers, clothes, burp clothes, wipes, a safe place to sleep, car seat, and stroller are the essentials. A few things i would recommend is getting an electric nail file and an electric nose sucker. Trimming baby nails is tricky and i cut my son by accident so now i only use the file and it works great.

Also baby mittens, baby socks, and pacifiers. Their nails are surprisingly sharp so i covered my son’s hands pretty much all the time.

I pray that you can finish everything you have planned before baby comes. :) I am also a young mom ( 2 under 2). My best advice is to spend enough time with the Lord. Make sure your faith is strong. Postpardum was the hardest time of my life. (Maybe the first 3 months) Prepare yourself mentally, spiritually. It is a great trial i think. But when God is with you and you are aware of it it makes things much easier. Blessings ❣️

For temperatures, I would just have a couple of sleep sacks and longer onsies to put them in if they will be sleeping separately from you like in a crib or bassinet. If you will be cosleeping, you will most likely not need any clothes besides a diaper because your body temperature will regulate theirs (yes, ours bodies and babies are super smart and intelligently designed). You can always take the sleep sacks and longer sleeve onsies off if they are too hot. You will know intuitively if they are too hot or cold, lean into your intuition mama! You got this.

Yes! The AAP recommends the baby never sleep in seperate rooms from parents. This helps you respond to their needs quickly and effectively. Babies are very dependent on mom/parents to regulate them emotionally, physically, neurologically...basically for everything. Nighttime sensory exchange (between mom and baby physically touching) is important for brain development, communication skills, emotional regulation, etc. I would recommend a book called Safe Infant Sleep by Dr James McKenna 😊

Totally recommended reading “the first 40 days” and making a few is the soups to have in your freezer and also to give you a guide of what to ask for on your meal train! Having those soups for lunch everyday already prepped was such a blessing to me that first month 🙏🏼🙏🏼

i had my son mid june and it was very hot outside! he slept in a bassinet in our room, and we had the window air conditioner going all night every night and he wasn’t too cold at all! he either slept in a long sleeve onesie or a zipper footie pj and then we swaddled him! usually in a cozys brand swaddle bc they are thinner and stretchy!

Oh my gosh. Can I just say... Your NOTION BOARD gives me LIFE!!! Notion saved me during our wedding planning, lol! I was losing my mind until my husband helped me organize everything into Notion :') Such a great idea so you don't feel overwhelmed trying to keep track of ALL the things. Anyway as always, love how authentic you are (those 3rd trimester cravings!! hahaha yes girl) and sooo excited for your guys' babymoon, the arrival of baby Wolfgang (whom we already KNOW is going to be such a precious lil bean!!), and happy for Kyle's new jobs as well!! God is so good :')

Are you planning to get a baby monitor? If so, the one with picture usually also has a built-in thermostat where it tells you the temperature. If you have one or if you want to get one you could plug it in before baby comes to see how cold it gets at night.

I will say my baby lived in zip up pjs for the first 6m of life but in your area this might look a little different with the heat so good to have options - but tons of zip ups for sleep!
@sammimata Жыл бұрын
It’s actually great for babies to sleep at lower temps! You can Google the good temps for sleep for babies. Our son just slept in cotton zip pjs for the first few weeks and then to a short/ long sleeved onesie and no pants. Also- highly recommend skipping swaddling and going straight to a sleep sack so his arms are free :) helps them learn their startle reflex wayyyyy quicker

Amazon's JEDEW 2-Pack Mini Hygrometer Thermometer is what we got. They're quarter sized and helped a lot. But you will also know as time goes on babies (often) get fussy when the temp is off so looking for cues helps as well.

A fan is great to have in the room to help baby with breathing. You’ll learn your baby’s temperature comfort. My son runs warm so for us we leave the fan full blast and put him in a full body onesie with socks and that’s perfect for him. We struggled with this in the beginning too but you’ll eventually get a feel for it depending on whether your baby gets fussy. That’s what works for us though lol

Answer to baby temp question: babies typically need one more layer than what you’re wearing when cold. They will cry when they are cold but overheating can be dangerous for them since they don’t sweat so much as infants. My baby was born in Nov and our heater went out. The house was around 45 degrees and she would sleep in a in a diaper and swaddled in two blankets and she was fine. For feeds newborns fall asleep so it’s best for them to be undressed and not too warm. I think a lighter sleep sack should be fine and if he gets cold you can put a onsie on him underneath!

@bellavita3097 Жыл бұрын
Really cute baby clothes and free! That is a nice carrier. Baby can sleep with windows open fan off as long as he has his onesie and blanket on he’ll be fine. Even a soft knit cap helps them sleep at night fresh is is good for everyone. He should be in his own room anyway, from day one.

Hi! Heard you saying you're thinking of moving baby to his room after a few weeks...they recommend keeping baby in your room for at least the first six months of life due to the high risk of SIDS Also if you are planning to breastfeed or bottle feed you will be getting up multiple times during the night for while, especially if you'll breastfeed on demand 😊 My boy is one year old and still sleeps in our room since he still feeds at night

Congrats on becoming parents 🤍 with the baby’s temp at night, my experience after 2 babies is that it will be pretty obvious if your baby is hot or cold. Their skin will feel cold or they will sweat, or they will be fussy while fed and cleaned. :) all babies are so different. My daughter ran hot, I kept her in only a diaper and swaddle and my son ran cold and would have to wear fuzzy sleepers with the swaddle at night! It will come natural because it’s your baby. God bless y’all. 🫶🏼👶🏼

We thrifted that exact baby Bjorn carrier. We have the moby carrier and boppi carrier. My daughter is almost a year and still prefers baby bjorn. She’s almost growing out of it though 😂
@Breyerluvr4eva Жыл бұрын
I got very into babywearing with my now 19 month old. And i still wear her sometimes. For newborn I love the boppy comfy fit because it's very user friendly and great for the tiny stage. The baby bjorn isnt great because it has a narrow seat which isnt ideal for babys hips. And is pretty uncomfortable for mom. Make sure babys legs are in the M positon instead of dangling. For 4 months + the Tula carriers are great. I encourage watching youtube videos to make sure baby is in the correct position. Very high up on your body, high enough that you can kiss babys head without reaching down and back of carrier not covering babys head. You should be able to see their whole head over the top. Great haul! The nipple ice packs will be a lifesaver!!

Oohh girl! If you get to full term, which praying you will of course 🙏🏼🙏🏼, don’t even bother taking the premie clothes, premises are for premature babies. The newborn you can use probably for the first few weeks, but I would suggest still taking at least one set of 0-3 in your bag just in case you have a big boy. Newborn should work for most babies, premie almost never for full term babies and 0-3 for big babies.
