Hi Mallory, I love the print, mixing trench and slip dress! Also, Brooklyn’s Boerum hill is a great place. I miss hanging out there.! The BCI initiative looks like if it’s not just some “great marketing/PR“ that it aims to educate farming, communities that participate to use more sustainable practices that lessen the harm and impact on the environment. Cotton production uses a lot of water typically treats, its workers, pretty poorly and uses a lot of harmful damaging pesticides that hurt the soil and other natural animals that aren’t pests not just the pests but other animals that happen to come across a pesticide, so it kills other animals too!! it also pollutes the local water supply. So farmers that participate in is sustainable practices from what I understand the incentive is their harvested crops will yield a higher price. And hopefully also the workers will be treated better since I believe that’s part of the initiative to his training on how to ethically treat the workers. I’m hoping this is not all just some brainwashing BS but actual education on current sustainable farming practices. If we are paying more money with the understanding that more care is taken for the workers in the environment to be protected.
