I went to my local thrift store and found about 10 pieces of 100% linen and it was $1.75 each! It was also a lot of fun, kind of like treasure hunting lol.

I LOVE linen! I have been lucky enough to buy linen yardage at a great price from someone who was downsizing! I’ve bought linen items from thrift shops including sheets & new robes! Our Goodwill no longer has 50% off colors nor military or senior discounts! I’m in Central Texas. I dog sit & I made linen bath towels for one of my clients for Christmas last year & she loves them. She now buys lots of linen clothing!

I love that you are using linen for it's healing properties. I wish I could feel the linen quilt you made.

I have always thrifted. I have had the fabric energy mindset for 6 months to a year now because of my current health situation. Also, because of my current situation of having to remain flat on my back I have watched all of your recent videos and rewatched most of your previous videos. I have also been researching things that might help me get out of current situation (because researching distracts me). Since I watched this video I came back to comment this that might be helpful to you or anyone reading this: •ask anyone you feel comfortable asking (family, friends, coworkers, …) if they will check thrift stores for and/or have linen and 100% cotton clothing, sheets, table linen, etc. because not everyone feels comfortable thrifting but the majority of people have things they own and for whatever reason don’t use but keep it because they would feel guilty if they donated it or threw away. Everyone has someone in their life that would feel relieved if they had someone to give (or sell) the items to knowing it would allow them to get rid of the item guilt free and help you at the same time. If they frequent thrift stores themselves they will thrilled to add your list to their list while at the stores (and garage sales etc…)because they get the excitement of the score and another reason or excuse to thrift. Happy hunting.

Agh!!! I have less to pick from now that everyone is suddenly on the hunt for linen and wool at the thrift stores!

Quilts that feel like that, I say, ‘they feel like buttercream.” They’re just delicious. You gotta love fabric to feel that way. 👍✌️💙👩🌾

You inspired my weekend. At Goodwill by the pound I got 6 pieces for less than $10. I will probably just end up wearing it all. One fits as a nightgown.

I'm pretty sure I got BED BUGS from thrift stores many years ago. It took a little while for the tiny, pale bed bug eggs or one female insect to grow into a full blown infestation. In the summer I thought mosquitoes were biting me until I saw bed bugs crawling all over in my bedroom. It was awful!!! It took me several weeks to find out how to get rid of them myself. It was simple and cheap. When shopping, it might be a good idea to seal up the 2nd hand merchandise in air tight plastic bags with something that will kill them, like Food grade Diatomaceous earth. Sprinkle it inside, shake the bag to make a cloud, and wait a month before playing with your merchandise. High heat kills the bugs and eggs. Keep everything from the store to your home completely sealed, then dump the cloth contents into the washer and dryer to cook the little buggers. Or just don't worry about bed bugs. At least know what the adults, babies, eggs, and poop looks like when inspecting things people got rid of. The eggs are tiny, about the size of quinoa grain. Bed bugs can hide in thin cracks, screw holes, and inside clothing seams and hems. Okay, enough talking already! I love it when you say that!

Be sure to wear your linen or other natural fibers if you travel by plane. Polyester and other synthetic material, including plastic shoes will catch on fire, melt, and burn your body in an accident. Be alert and pay attention to the take off and landing. Tighten your seat belt. Know where the exits are. A pocket flashlight might come in handy.

There isn’t any linen clothing in thrift stores near me. Apparently nobody wears linen in my part of the country. Such a bummer because I really want to make a linen quilt! Cat Bird Quilts also loves to use linen.

I’m just starting over dyeing with ice dyeing, and linen is my next project. Ice dyeing can be texture dyeing or shape dyeing, or gradient dyeing, and I’m excited to combine that with linen. Really good to learn about the healing properties of linen, thank you. Plus, cutting out the seams makes a very strong rope.

You've got my interest now in making a linen quilt and/or at least backing my quilts with linen. Thank you. I don't remember if you got the sheet thrifted or not. If you bought it in a store where did you find it?

Since linen gets so wrinkly, would it be hard to keep it from wrinkling as a quilt? Or would it be easy to iron once quilted? I love linen but can't afford it. Nice to know I can find it at the thrift store! Thank you for these videos, so informative and fun!❤

I am cutting apart my linen finds as I watch this episode. My goal is to make a quilt for my mother-in-law for Christmas. A couple of thoughts. Wear the linen if it fits you. I have been experimenting with wearing wool and linen (separately) and feel I have more energy. I saw a beautiful poppy print linen shirt but I didn't want to pay $23 at my Goodwill. I took a chance and turned it around in the rack to hide the tag so it would not get noticed if someone was quickly scanning the rack for sale tags. I went back the next week and it was waiting for me. That shirt fits me and I love the print. It is also the inspiration for the palette for th quilt. What to do? I will shorten the tunic length and the long sleeves and achieve both aims. Good luck with your quest.

What is your opinion of Tencel? I hope I have that spelling correct. I just came across it recently at a thrift store and I just love the feel of it. So buttery soft however I really don’t know what to think of it. Maybe you could do a video about Tencel it is somehow manufactured from wood. I know blew me away. I’d really rather that they left the trees alone. Of course this may be a byproduct of sawdust. I don’t know. Anyway, loving all your videos, particularly your newfound love for linen. The races on everyone’s looking for linen now. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Blessings to you all. ❤
