It feels like, as far as Goodwill goes, they've caught on to the fact that people hunt them for video game gems and now vet them out and auction off anything actually worth buying online.

They do this with their music, electronics & clothing as well. This is why Goodwill is not such a great place to go thrifting anymore. The best places in the Phoenix area for years has been White Dove and The ARC because they don’t do this.

Goodwill sometimes want way too much money for what was donated old crap lol
@arbutuswatcher

Goodwill & Salvation Army have become way too picky, with what they'll accept in-terms of donated items, and their prices are unrealistic. Saint Vincent DePaul Thrift Stores I've found are usually more reasonable, however not as abundant in number. My family has always made a practice of donating clean, gently used, & no longer needed items. Whether it's kid's toys, clothes, furniture, or electronics, we've never donated junk. If it's worn-out or shot, it either gets recycled or disposed of properly. The last few times we've attempted to drop-off donation items at either Goodwill & Salvation Army, the workers either turn their nose up at it, or pilfer it for themselves. For free stuff, they've got quite the racket going on. I once saw a father dropping off an older PC, that his son had used in college (i.e. mini tower, flat panel display, keyboard, mouse, & printer). At the time, I attempted to ask the manager of the store, when the computer system would be available for sale. She said it had to be 'processed', which I assume meant the hard drive would be pulled - no big deal, since I can replace that. I checked for weeks, but it never made it, to the shelves of the store. When I inquired as to what happen to it, all I received were blank stares in return. I can only hazard to guess what happen to it. While I still like thrifting, some of the B.S. practices, at certain stores leave a lot to be desired. As my grandfather once said, the whole experience can leave a bad taste, in one's mouth.

Michael Appel I just found out The ARC has permanently closed their thrift store, so scratch that AZ recommendation. I’ve actually been finding better deals at Goodwill in Phoenix & Tempe the last couple months than I have in the last five years.

I understand if a donation is broken goods, or perhaps dirty, but we always brought functioning & clean items to the likes of Goodwill & Salvation Army. It makes me want to start my own proper thrift shop, despite their insanity. 'Thrifts & Other Such Stuff'.

I too would be tempted to but it (I actively collect demo disks), but that was quite expensive for a sports game. Thrift shops tend to not distinguish between demo disks and actual games in terms of pricing.

They still make great speakers in fact there are speakers better than anything from the past. They are much better constructed than anything from the 90’s or older. They just cost quite a bit. Mine have an MSRP of $6k that I got for $4,800 and they blow away older speakers.

In my case, a lot of stuff in the thrift stores near me are too modern and lame (thus inferior) for my taste. Once in a blue moon, you only find something nostalgic and interesting that works, such as my VCR player. It is a Sharp brand center deck manufactured in 1995. I'm so glad it actually works and is in good condition for its age.

I can tell you more about their awful ways !

It's been years since I've seen that Runaway Ralph movie. I used to have that movie and used to watch it with my brother back in the day. Wii Fit is the best game ever! Says "no one". lol I've seen a lot of Wii fits at my Goodwills. I've also seen some great action/first-person shooting games at my goodwill and was able to buy some games for my collection. It depends on the area. I've been to a few GoodWills that had hardly any video games or not one sports game. I've been to one Thrift store where I found a bunch of video games with missing discs that someone jacked from them, it was pretty much just the case there without the disc. It's a shame! You win some, you lose some! I love Goodwill shopping, you never known what you will find!

A Great Goodwill deals story I must share: Last year and my local Goodwill I found a pair of True religion jeans shorts now if you don't know True religion jeans is that company that makes those overpriced made in the USA jeans that cost like $100, these jean shorts I got for I think on Half Off Saturdays, I got them for 4 Bucks, So I got what would be overpriced jeans shorts for super super cheap, and one of these days I'm hope to fine a pair of True religion Jeans for a that Insane deal and it will happen someday because I one day in the Donation boxes in the curbside donation station outside literally there were pairs of those high end designer jeans literally in the donation pile.

I definitely think the high price is justifiable for that particular doll. When you have numbered edition dolls like that, the lowest numbers usually are given to the featured celebrity him/herself and friends or relatives. He definitely should've picked up the doll on that principle alone!

If Christmas decorations is lifting peoples Spirits up than they needed to do it all this year, 2020 hasn't been a good year at all, that to me, I go looking for Christmas stuff and lots of praying in between helps me with my depression, I'll be the first to say do it, go have a good time prawling through the Christmas stuff! Might lift your Spirit! I'll be homeless at the end of this month Oct. and I need this, I'm depressed, scared for me and my family, there is simply no where to rent on my small monthly income, so enjoy things like this even if you can't buy it, it doesn't hurt to look! One of the few things I'm honestly missing as I "limit myself" are antique/consignment store trips. Some of them might be open and are tempting to the eye when I'm rolling past, but I just can't take the chance even with the masks and distancing.
