Our cats learned they werent allowed on the counters with firm NO and taking them off at first. Also they got squirted with the water gun (not knowing it was coming from you so they associate jumping on them with unpleasantly getting wet)

Hatch Man Do I hate to break it to you but as soon as you're asleep or you leave the house, those cats are up on your counters 😂 my best friend thought she trained her cats to stay off the counters until one morning she was washing dishes and saw the nose print of a kitty cat on the window overlooking the sink 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Cassie, almond extract will keep once opened through the expiration date because it’s alcohol based. Try it along with vanilla in lots of baked goods! Just don’t use as much as you do the vanilla because it’s so strong. It adds that something special, just like maple or coffee extracts can to certain baked goods, anything that you think 🤔 hmmm, almonds would be good in this!

Yay for claimed Kitchen Aid Stand Mixers! My dad bought one as a "gift for the house" when I was in just starting to get serious about culinary school what seems like eons ago. jessicakayleeable my mom came over to house sit and cat sit for me when I went on vacation. She told me there was no way she was gonna allow the cats on the counters. I told her if she could manage to keep them off, more power to her. Not only were they still jumping up on the counter when I came back, but she was bloody setting their food bowls down on the counter and letting them eat up there 😂😂😂😂😂

I trained my kitten from day 1 not to get on counters or the table. It doesn’t bother me because it’s your home and you do what you want too. And I’d never tell someone how they should live their life. But so far my cat is a year old and has never gotten on the countertop or table and neither did the cat I had before him did. They love water but hate getting sprayed with it thus it makes a great training tool. Works well for the Christmas tree too. Cookies look delicious! I’m stealing your recipe.

I've lived with four different cats throughout my life and none of them were allowed to be on kitchen counters and after being told no and pushed off immediately and consistently, and not given any attention when they did it, they stopped. My cat does not have free reign of the entire house while I'm out, so he does not have a chance to get on counters when I'm not there. If cat hair and litter-box paws on your counters don't bother you that's one think, but cats CAN be trained. Or at least many of them can be! My current one is like a dog, he is so treat-motivated. For other cats you just have to make something else more attractive than the thing they're doing you want them to stop, like giving them an even better perch to be near you in the kitchen than the counter.

Cats can be trained. When you're there. When you're not in the house it's a whole different kettle of fish! I've got 5 and they know that if there's food on the table or counters it's off limits and they're pretty good. I use antibacterial wipes and spray (Dettol) on my counters and tables before I do anything there.

I’ve had indoor cats my entire life and none of them have ever been allowed on the counter 🤷🏼‍♀️ I guess we trained them well because it’s never been an issue

Hahaha...... Well that is great for you. But I can say that I have had a few cats too and some have responded very well to the training and others just don't give a hoot. I have one now that NOTHING works to keep him off the counters....NOTHING😒. He may have a few screws loose! 😂😂😂 But I love him anyway! Its just not that deep. 🤷🏻‍♀️

For Christmas, we tend to make peanut butter cookies, mint chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin cookies with vanilla icing on top, and sugar cookies with icing. I have to agree that pecan pricing are crazy high. I had to buy some for a pecan pie and was a bit shocked. Vanilla extract keeps raising every year, too. I use that for everything! The last bottle I bought was like 10 dollars. When the times comes you should do a vlog style video of wrapping your gifts. That way my nosy self knows what gifts you bought for everyone.

My boyfriend and his family live in Minnesota and I'm moving up there in February. His mom has been baking up a storm. I know one of their family traditions is the cornflake wreath cookie. Christmas baking is a bigger thing in the Midwest than in southwest where I'm from. I really enjoyed this video ☺️

I love making spritz cookies w my pampered chef cookie press(not an ad, it just works!) then give cookie sheet to kids for sprinkles of every kind all over them. I also love my Kitchenaid that is approaching 20yrs old 😱 and it has made countless cookies, lots of baked goods, plus a few wedding cakes. A few tips: make sure it's plugged directly into wall & not a power strip--it needs POWER. Add your dry ingredients about 1/3 at a time and on a low speed, and crack your eggs in a separate bowl before adding. It is really hard trying to get a piece of shell out of your dough/batter, and you might miss a piece (I use a colored plastic bowl). Last tip: your kitchen, your cats, good cooking, nobody's business 😘

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but instead of the guard you can just drape your kitchen towel over the mixer and bowl when you're adding dry ingredients that might floof all over the place. Quick and easy!

My mom had a spritz gun that plugged into the wall- I still have it! It looks like it’s from the 70s or something 😂 Loved this vlog ... me and my mom always used to bake Christmas cookies, including spritz and Mexican wedding cookies. I don't usually care if my cats are on the counters. my Grimm loves watching me do dishes. he gets so close he gets soap bubbles on his ear. but for the most part they only get up there to jump on the fridge to sleep on top of the cupboards. they are good about food and stuff. they don't ever get up there when I am cooking or have food out. lol if they did we might have issues.

This year someone in my house bought Pillsbury Wedding cookies. Said try one. The whole house was OBSESSED! Since then we’ve been trying to track them down anywhere and everyone is sold out! Ugh! It was fun to see your Grammie's favourites for Christmas! I've made Spritz cookies, but I haven't made any of the others! I'll have to copy out the peanut butter one with peanut butter cups, because Tim loves chocolate, and peanut butter together. My Grammie, and Mom, and me, and my younger sister always made, and make Whipped Shortbread cookies for Christmas with small pieces of red, and green cherries on the top!(Ingredients: 1 cup unsalted butter, 1/2 cup icing sugar, pinch of salt, 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour, red, and green cherry thirds. Preheat oven to 275 F . Cream butter, and add icing sugar, and flour. Whip until light, and fluffy, about six minutes. Drop from a teaspoon onto a parchment- lined cookie sheet. Top with cherry third, and bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool on rack. Yield: 24-30 shortbreads). It was fun to see your family prepare for the holidays, Cassie! Canadian love, and hugs, Sherrey💕💗💕

if I’m going to prepare food, I just shoo my cats away, clean the counter, and then prepare the food on a plate. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m not going to spend any energy trying to train my cat to stop being a cat - their brains have small frontal lobes, and they are impulsive and curious; cats can also be very, very affectionate and even gentle. I think when cat owners scare their cats off the counter constantly, the cats are just going to be scared of their owners. 😢

Baking for others is how I show my love. My love language to others maybe lol Looks like fun to bake with your mom! Maybe once my girls are a little bit older I’ll have more patience for sharing my kitchen with littles. I turn into a mini cookie machine and make dozens of different cookies. It’s kind of my own therapy. Lol Our favorites are Sour Cream Cookies, I love spritz but can’t stand the gun so haven’t made those in forever, pb kiss cookies, and then I like to do a chocolate peppermint type and like to try new ones each year. as far as I can tell, that wasn't cat hair lol my cat's hairs are really stick straight... looked like some kind of clothing fibers to me (likely from a kitchen towel that I used to dry my hands after washing them). Plus it wasn't there the whole time since I washed my hands multiple times during this baking process i.e. after cracking eggs, after butter, etc. ^_^

I really enjoyed this vlog. I love your sense of humour,, you always make me laugh 😂. I can see where it comes from when I see you and your mother together. Your mother is such a natural in front of the camera. Say hi. I could die for some of those cookies right now. as I said in the video, I always wipe down my counters before food touches them... not to mention I wipe down my counters at least once a day anyways (to get crumbs from food and whatnot). Plates and things are stored in cupboards so having cat hair on them is rare if ever; it's not like it's invisible so if I see a cat hair (or human hair for that matter since humans shed too) then I remove it. I've never had a guest get sick off of my food/cooking, nor have I ever seen anyone come across hairs in my food so I must be doing a pretty good job of sanitizing :)
