I started my implant journey last fall (Nov 2023) just had restoration done (July 2024) 6000.00 total cost. WITH insurance. Crown was not insurance, 2300.00 I was given the option of a bridge, but didn't want my other two molars shaved down and crowned unless I needed to. That was going to cost 3500.00 WITHOUT the extraction cost. My extraction had to be done by an oral surgeon as it was a failed RCT and my root tip was pretty much almost touching my main facial nerve. That surgery for extraction and bone graft was 2000.00 so either way, it was going to be expensive but I went with the implant and broke costs up. As far as restoration, my oral surgeon sent an EXPLICITLY detailed letter telling my dentist what materials to use for my abutment and to do screw retained, and I didn't know that......and my dentist DID NOT read or heed that, not sure which and he cemented it down. I have had issues now with irritation and am now facing possibly having to have it removed and redone. SO my advice is always make sure they are doing what they are supposed to. As a patient, I shouldn't have to, but apparently you do. Hope this all helps someone.

At 0:06 is the tooth I had an implant (lower image, about 2019). The tooth had to be extracted because of a condition known as resorption. The tooth was dissolving on its own, and a root canal would have just been a temporary solution. I went for an implant instead of any sort of bridge. The total cost was about $4,000, where Aetna paid about 1/4 of that, so my out of pocket as about $3,000. These things take time. In my case over a year. No regrets. Other than feeling a bit smoother than my natural teeth, it's just like them.

Removable bridge is the cheapest and the most hygienic option. I have one and love it. You may be wondering why I say it's the most hygienic solution. Because you can easily remove it and clean it. The permanent bridge and the implants have areas where bacteria can build up and cleaning those areas is very difficult because you can't remove an implant or permanent bridge. Not in my wildest dreams would I consider grinding down 2 good teeth in order to bond a bridge in place.
@monyvarghese1647 Жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right. I lost 4 of my good teeth in the process of bridging and I am struggling now . When bridging is done it is a convenient place for bacteria to grow as we can't clean well under the bridge. I sincerely request , no one should go for bridging

Number one,implants are unattainable unless you are rich. I went to a dentist 8 months ago with a premolar that kept losing its filling.after a full checkup I was told that my teeth were worn down,and that was why all my teeth were sensitive,and I would keep losing that filling because my bite was messed up. Recommendation was to do two bridges for my two missing teeth,and crowns for the rest. Once the bridges were done,I have had extreme sensitivity in all the anchor teeth that were grinded down to support the bridges. For 4 months I was told it would get better.it has not,and here I am 8 months later,living on painkillers just to be able to function. The original problem with the premolar was just as bad,first they crowned it,which made it worse.then they root canaled it,which failed due to an infection they did not detect until performing the root canal.ended up pulling the tooth anyways. Will be getting dentures soon. Word to the wise,do not get bridges anchored to live teeth. Teeth should be root canaled before you grind them down into little posts to support a bridge. Why dentists do not tell you this is beyond me. Will never trust a dentist again. Money whores.

I need like 10 molars replaced top and bottom I crushed my nose and broke quite a few teeth in a bad car accident and that was 15 years ago I’m 40 today and I’m worried it’s gave me some sort of heart disease although I’m relatively healthy and look fine but looks can be deceiving we all know that I think it could just be my anxiety tbh. Today they gave me 3 options today at the Dental office 1.) is go the implant route it’ll probably take a year to get everything finished and it cost $28k 2.) Do implants on the top and partials on the bottom 17k or 3.) just get the bad teeth extracted and do partials because it’s a lot more in my budget and for that it’s only $5,500 and they could extract the teeth in 3 weeks and have the partials in by Thanksgiving this year (2024) and said I can always upgrade to implants later when my money gets back up again. I don’t have any dental insurance so this would be all out of pocket and they’re recommending Proceed Financial. I just don’t know which to choose I have good credit so I could probably get approved for the implants but that’s another big bill every month I’m 40 recently single and depresssd and I’ve always been the life of the party bachelor living Las Vegas dating beautiful woman but right now I’m depressed and down in the dumps. Two things you neglected to mention: 1. There is no guarantee that an implant will work & there is no refund if implants have to be removed - which means more surgery & more risk. 2. I am not a dental professional; but, having had a bridge now for 20+ years, I consider it irresponsible to discuss bridges without talking about guaranteed subsequent bone loss. Because a bridge does NOT replace the missing root in the gumline, you will inevitably lose bone in that area. Even if your bridge is successful, the option to replace it with an implant once your teeth start to get wiggly will fade over the years as bone structure in the jaw area of the missing tooth gradually and continually disintegrates.

Dr you forgot the question that every body ask: : why a dentist is expensive in us but is cheap in Mexico?
@johnshirbini5801 Жыл бұрын
Because dental industry is overpriced. Go to Turkey and you can do he whole teeth with hotels and transportation with less than 5K with great results

Because the cost of practice is much higher, from inflated educational requirements, to overuse of litigation and higher insurance rates to cover that, over regulation leading to higher cost of running a practice from equipment to staff to office infrastructure. It's all people and legislation driven. Ppl want more regulation and politicians give them what they want without telling the truth of how much that affects the cost on the patients and access to care
@andreah63798 ай бұрын
@@hesham3dsGovernment regulation is NOT the reason dental costs are higher in US! BTW: We have regulations to prevent death and suffering from incompetent and unskilled fake "doctors," in other words, regulations are a GOOD THING. Or maybe you think 3rd world dentistry is better???

No you will have dentures. Like me and 40.000.000 other people in this country. Get the tooth pulled at low income dental clinic. That is what I did. Start calling your County Health Department. They may have dental clinics. To pull the tooth and they charge based on income. We all every single person in this country needs access to dentist. Unfortunately I am not in charge.

The most anoyng part is the price. Is like this are made from meteorits and aree hard to find. I mean we are living in the era of technology with 3d printers..lol , but aparently this cost a lot. I mean an implant is a fking screw wich cost in my area around 800 euro...for a fkin screw , and the crown made from meteorits another 300-500 euro. We should all be dentists so we can became rich in like 1 year....This industry are making their fortune on the people pain and fustration.

In USA dental care is the most stressful service. It feels like buying a used car ..you never can be sure. Of the outcome....so expensive! It was not like this in the 80th....it was lovely compared to today...the front desk persons through 1000000 of dollar amounts at you. Three times their monthly salary , like the price if a donat....they seem to help to collect these inflated prices . Do they get 10%...? Ok. C est la vie. Right now? It is,what it is. I lost RESPECT... .many people suffer...its called. GOOD BUSINESS .....

This type of thing is always expensive. I didn't bother to look into to it. Dentures are what I am getting eventually. Look at options that you can afford. Otherwise you will depress yourself looking at things you can't afford.

When one considers the cost of medical and especially dental in the United States one might suppose we had lost a war. I’m disgusted at what it’s going to cost to deal with one missing molar. Two dentists have given bids, even with insurance it’s many thousands of dollars, and to discourage the bridge the pricing is not much less than the implant. I may take the 18th century approach and do nothing.

Decided to check to see if my dentist was trying to rob me because they quoted $3,750 for an implant OR a bridge. I already know I want an implant because I'm not trying to pay $4k every 10 years but damn dentists must be balling because holy shit this stuff is expensive. My single crown cost me $1,600
@andreah63798 ай бұрын
You have it better than me. I am 68yo, no dental insurance--Medicare doesn't cover teeth and Medicare DisAdvantage plans say they will cover dental until you need it. Then you find out there's all kinds of holes in coverage and few doctors accepting MA's limited insurance. Out of pocket for an implant is $10,000 for #3 tooth, a bridge is about $5K. Dental care is highway robbery in USA.

😂 yes dentist 🦷 do pretty well. Ironically I had a few friends in the past who are successful dentist now but one of them asked me to take a 6 hour road trip to dental school like over ten years ago and another dentist friend I met through my ex girlfriend. When I needed dental 🦷 work and I didn’t have $ at the time only one of them offered me a dental flipper and quoted me like 6 to 8 thousand dollars for an implant 💵 I was like wtf 😳 no homie discount. I guess in the end, some people just look out for themselves. A few weeks later I met my dentist who would later hook me up and I paid cash 💵 true story .

@@chalkdust2877 I have 4 missing teeth and have put 4 implants for each one of them , i did not have any pain during or after the operation. Implants feel like your own teeth and they are a lifetime solution. With a bridge ,over time you are going to lose jaw bone and there will be a noticable space between the bridge and gum, the worst is you need to destroy good teeth to install bridges which you have to replace in 10 years Maximum!

I wish I got a bridge with the wings and not one that went over teeth. Pretty sure my dentist screwed me and I went from missing 1 tooth (3 tooth bridge) to missing 3 teeth and having (6 tooth bridge) from K9 to K9 all in 2 years. That’s with brushing twice a day and water flossing. Now both my k9s don’t even look like teeth under.
