I acquired a rare neurological condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome so when I lost a front tooth I started researching dental implants and CRPS. That where I learned about Zirconia implants are better for people who have this rare pain disorder. The body doesn’t react to the material whereas reports from CRPS people who have had the titanium implants run the risk of their condition moving into their jaw, face, neck etc. Also I like the fact that if I have gum recession in the future I don’t have to worry about the metal shadow or showing the titanium material. My healing with the zirconia implant went amazingly well. Love it.

The Zirconia implants sound very helpful for those with autoimmune diseases, who sometimes find their bodies rejecting implants, which just then fall out. Increased biocompatability is exactly what's needed for these patients. This is an excellent video. Thank you very much.

Avoid titanium at all cost PLEASE! It ruined my life. Until the I saw the documentary - Root Cause I had no idea. It caused me Trigeminal Neuralgia and also 3 months after the implant I had a breast lump on the same side. I've spent years in absolutely agony with vertigo, brain fog, ice packs, unable to work and barely go out. It's only when I switched to an ayurvedic oral health care routine, stopped using fluoride toothpaste and start mouth taping that my health improved. It's hell on earth. I can't wait to have it pulled but I'm going for ceramic this around, I'm crossing an ocean just to get to a good dentist.

What about titanium implants coated with zirconia? Titanium implants coated with zirconia can improve osseointegration, which is the process of bone apposition to the implant surface. This is because the zirconia coating promotes bone apposition more than titanium implants without a coating.

Zirconia implants breaking or fracturing isn't just a problem from the "old days". My zirconia implant Dr. Michelle's office placed cracked this year after just 2 years! It was incredibly painful and had to be removed. I went to their office because I was having a hard time to find a dentist/oral surgeon that would do zirconia rather than titanium. Beware if you choose zirconia - breaking isn't just a problem of the past!

Titanium is listed as a toxic metal along with arsenic, and cadmium. Many people have sensitivity to the metal which is why they recommend the Melisa blood test. I view such sensitivities as a blessing and feel sorry for those who can't feel the danger. It is good to feel pain when the stove surface is hot, because it is our protection. I am sensitive to EMF fields so I limit my exposure. So I have an appreciation for sensitivities or our body's natural warning systems and it makes sense to watch the other canaries and avoid titanium implants. I presently have root canals that are by nature continually infected and I am finally having them pulled. They have destroyed my quality of life for several years and as an experiment I have tried everything and discovered that even practicing natural medicine, there is no way for me to continue living with them. When I am in severe pain I have to hit them with massive amounts of colloidal silver which kills the infection in the bone and gums, and then use a natural mouthwash and eat mostly green foods as maintenance and I am OK until I eat the wrong foods. (carbs) Then I suffer from severe debilitating pain in the bone again, and I have to repeat the process over and over. After pulling them, I am thinking of replacing the root canal teeth with ceramic implants. Your message is very helpful and hopefully the ceramic implants help me get my life back.

Then a dentist did a cap and crown then it broke off and then they said they could not repair it after it fell off within the week. The teeth in my mouth is very very bad now and I don't trust any dentist. But now I am having throbbing pain of my destroyed teeth now and need to get them fixed. This is such a good video. I have to say, in the first scenario you assumed you placed the implant too close to the mandibular nerve. Why do we automatically second guess ourselves?! I’m sure you are extremely conscientious and knew exactly where you placed it. This comment may get negative responses but a male counterpart would not have jumped to that conclusion, at least in my experience 😂 And as a hygienist in multiple private practices over the years, I’ve seen what can only be metal sensitivities in women for decades. Even when the margins or biological width is not an issue, they are on a 3 month recall, biofilms are minimal, redness and inflammation is isolated around gold crowns etc in some individuals. Zirconia has been game changing in my world In my area there are still so many dentist placing amalgams.

Dr. Michelle, I hope you read my comment. I need several implants. I have foregone dental work, first of all because I can't afford it. But second: I have physical markers for the MTHFR gene mutation although I've never undergone testing. I had a copper IUD (Paragard) put in, in October 2018. I started getting copper toxicity within less than one month. 9 months later I finally got the courage to get it removed (I thought removal would be as painful as insertion) but not before ruining my physical and mental health. Thankfully I'm better now, but I am terrified of putting any metal in my body from here on out. Do you have experience with patients who have MTHFR and/or reacted badly to the copper IUD? Thank you so much. I'm so glad I discovered your video.

Hello! Your channel is a godsend I just discovered it thank you 🙏🏻I’ve got a bit of a complicated case. Fractured 3/4 of my front tooth at 14 due to a biking accident. Subsequent root canal there as well as multiple crowns maybe 3 or 4 I have lost count over the years. I’m now 47. Additionally about 10 years ago a dentist talked me into doing a porcelain veneer on the other front tooth because she said it was also cracked visible on xray but not to my eye. So I did it 😟now I’m being told I need two implants on my front teeth. On the original root canal tooth because the metal post is once again loose and fractured( but it’s been this way for 1.5 years now) and also needing an implant on the other front tooth because there’s an abscess visible on a CT scan. No pain or symptoms. So, over a year ago I got two consults for implants. One from a surgeon that does titanium and the other that’s a holistic oral surgeon for zirconia. I wanted to go with zirconia but my dentist has scared me about choosing this route even though he refers and works with both surgeons. He said he still has seen way too many fractures on the zirconia implants and they have to be redone 😮I’ve asked him if this was due to the surgeon’s placement and work and he claims no that if I’m going to go to anyone for zirconium implants he’s the guy. So I froze and haven’t done anything 😔I’m super confused on which direction to go even though I wanted zirconia but I certaintly do not want to end up back in the chair dealing with failure. Any advice would be so appreciated.

Titanium destroys the gut microbiome - ie the factory that makes your immune system. Traditional medicine and dentistry do not consider the knock on impact of a procedure on other parts of the body. Holistic medicine and dentistry do because they understand the interconnectedness of each part. This is why zirconium is the optimum healthy solution for an implant - AND it is strong. ☘️

I'm getting an "All On 4" procedure done in a few weeks. I know the permanent set of teeth are Zirconia, but it seems here you are talking about the screws or the implant portion that goes into the gum. I am wondering what material will be used in mine - I'm guessing the Titanium because it sounds like it is the most common. I will have a temporary set of teeth for 4-6 months while everything heals, and I'm pretty sure only the permanent set is Zirconia. I don't know how anyone affords proper dental care these days. I'm only doing the lower set of teeth & it's still over $20K. But I'm down to only 5 teeth on the bottom due to a sublingual medication I took for years & can only pay for it because of the class action settlement. (though I wouldn't need to get this done if they had be honest about the side effects of the medication)

I think problem with titanium it's not the problem of titanium alone, i mean if there is two different metals and blood instead of electrolite, than you heve created the human battery cause the table of electronegativity or other wirds the table of metal pairs and potential difference of that very metal pairs, so i think you can anodize your jewerly with titanium and wear it with no problem, even if you have titanium implants but in this case experiments neede needed, or you can coat rour jewerly with some non conductive thin layer, but then you creating, a condensator or a kaiden jar, so as i said exeriments needed.

Would love to see you do a video on solutions for smokers teeth - what are the options for my friend he wants veneers to correct discoloration and broken front teeth due to improperly placed braces. @livingwellwithdrmichelle

Darn. I was going to do zirconium for a molar but I lost the tooth from clenching and I was told the zirconium might fracture. It has cap on it while healing and the gum does appear to moving away from it. I tried calling the manufacturer of titanium and zirconium to ask them and they wouldn’t talk to me. I do have two other titanium implants. One I’ve had for at least fifteen years and the other a couple. I lost two teeth during COVID from clenching.

How do we find a dentist that does zirconia implants that do not cost $4,500.00 per tooth and this doesn't include $1200-2000 for the bone graph. I read Dick Van Dyke had an implant once that led to severe migraines.. I'm not interested in more metal in my mouth

Implants are NOTHING like real teeth and cause peri-implantitis which results in gum loss, bone loss, and eventually implant loss. Studies have reported a prevalence of up to 22% for peri-implantitis, PI (ranging between 1-47%). A recent retrospective analysis showed that one in five implants showed signs of peri-implantitis PI over time;5 however, Marcantonio et al. (2015)6 suggests a prevalence range of 4.7-43% at implant level and 8.9-56% at patient level.Mar 5, 2024 Keep your real teeth until you have no other choice

But when they have to go.... Tooth pulled got a bridge. Bridge broke. New bridge with root canal. Root canal tooth cracked. So two teeth gone. Implant suggested but too expensive. Longer bridge not viable.

I have a titanium implant front tooth placed 2018. I detoxed a year ago for heavy metals due to high arsenic and other metals and set off a chain of events that has forever changed my life. I started to have a metal taste and a feeling of metal sensitivity there ever since. It is hard to explain. It's not a pleasant feeling. Thanks for this info.

@8:32 to bolster the case for zirconium dioxide, please cite this research in the description. it would also be interesting to see which european dentists are using zirconium dioxide more and titanium less. finally, statistics on the durability of modern implants would be very helpful.

You sold me. Now you just have to get Medicaid to pay for it. Seeing as I need most teeth replaced and cannot afford implants it's likely I'll never get them fixed and it will shorten my life at least degrade the quality of life. If only the rich can afford them, what's the point?
@MrTrashcan1
@MrTrashcan1 2 ай бұрын
There is something called a removable partial denture. This is what people get when they can't afford implants or even bridges. One piece replaces all the teeth on the same arch simultaneously. No, it's not perfect. You can't afford perfect. But it's better than walking around with missing teeth. People have been wearing these for decades and they do just fine. In many cases, they can be made without metal.

@@MrTrashcan1 I am well aware of dentures and have opted to give then not a second thought. I know too many people with them who have problems I don't wish to have. I am not a second class citizen. Especially the government should not be in bed with corupt dental and American medical associations that subvert the best care to ensure they maintain a class structure.

@@DivergentDroid I never said you were a second class citizen. I am a dentist and can't afford what many can. My income was so low that we qualified for an Obamacare subsidy. I drive an old Hyundai Elantra--just so you know, that's an economy car. But where do you think the government gets its money? Yes, it steals it from taxpayers--all taxpayers, not just the wealthy. So do you think it's fair that everyone else should pay for your dentistry? In this world, you have to be resourceful. Not all dentists are the same, and just because people you know had problems with dentures doesn't mean it will be the same with you. Find an old school dentist with a plain, hole-in-the-wall office (low overhead), down-to-earth, who works on one patient at a time and cares about his patients and the results. No, not easy to find, but we're out there. You have to put in some effort.

dentist here. She is 100% wrong and full of shit. The meta studies show that titanium has the same biocompatibility as zirconium. Except, titanium has better mechanical and integration properties, so aside from aesthetics, zirconium offers no real advantage over titanium.

@brentbrooks7009
@brentbrooks7009 2 ай бұрын
@@lauraapotter7911 The designation of zirconia (zirconium dioxide) as a non-metal is somewhat contrived since elementally it is made up primarily of a metal- zirconium. ( 74% Zr, 26% O2 by weight) The “metal free” designation is popular hype but attempts to convey the notion that all metals are toxic or dangerous. Zirconia implants offer very good biocompatibility but have a history of fractures and although new formulations are more promising in this regard more long term studies are necessary before they will supplant titanium based dental implants as the material of choice.
