The cost is $2,000 in the NYC area for one root canal. Also the 1199 Union insurance won't cover this very important procedure- or many other common dental procedures including caps or tooth replacement. It is bizarre that something so important is just overlooked by insurance companies.

I had to do a onlay crown due to a fracture on my #18 teeth. Now, I have a pain due to sensitivity which I never had before. The crown was $1200 and $580 out of pocket. Now I have to pay $1774 more(465 out of pocket). I think I'm getting ripped off. Does anyone here paid this much for a root canal?

I'm on aid for low income and my dentist wants 2800 out of My pocket for 1 root canal. My 2nd opinions looking at my xrays say I need THREE root canals! This dentist is the one who just put the fillings in 9 months ago! When I came in with pain, he immediately pointed out the dark spots under the filling saying it was bad decay. I reminded him that He did those 2 fillings and his story changed to "Oh it must be the liner." Huh?? Liner?? None of my other fillings have dark spots under them. Now that I canceled my root canal appt with him, he Still wants to charge me 2800!!! I'm livid and sick to my stomach 😩

I would strongly consider everyone in this situation to go international. Costa Rica, Colombia, Mexico. You're saving yourself a lot of money and get the same service and quality you would get here in the United States. 2 years ago, I had a Root Canal with a Crown on my second molar and only costed me a total of $300. Since then I have had no pain no or complications with it
