Yep, you are right Steve, chaos is coming for all of us. We want all feel its effects without doubt. Assessing our preparedness along with the belief that God does have a plan, really takes the edge off. Better than any drug! Thanks Steve!

This past winter I overslept from being physically exhausted and slept through my fire going out in the wood stove. It was -20 inside my cabin. I was nice and warm under my covers but within minutes I struggled getting dressed, buttoning buttons, zipping zippers, etc. Loosing feeling in my fingers. At that temperature a propane torch with a small tank is useless, thankfully I had Birch bark that immediately lit the dry firewood I had though I struggled to even striking my Zippo at that point because of numbness in my hands. BTW you have to warm the Zippo using heat in your hands to warm the lighting fluid for it to light. I eventually got a fire raging in the stove and had a great morning after I got warm lol. I knew that I had to remain calm and stay focused on the task at hand. I will be damned if I freeze to death inside my cabin lol. The whole time I was recalling a short story from Jack London, " To Build a Fire" it's about an arrogant man that ends up freezing to death in the Yukon at -70 on a trail to a roadhouse. Excellent story, you should check it out if not familiar with it. Point being, under extreme conditions, chaos around you, etc. You must remain calm and focused. Panic is a killer.

To endure, you must smartly conserve your energy and resources. I'm not talking about supplies, but inside you. Emotional energy drains physical energy, so you are not able to respond emotionally or physically when it is most needed. Being in a constant state of stress (sympathetic nervous system dominance) burns out your adrenals, so when you do need to fight or flee, you can't be effective. This is not something you can over-ride in the moment. Animals live in a state of calm alertness (parasympathetic nervous system dominance), and only fight or flee when the moment demands it. Then, they return to calm alertness and stay there until the next danger comes. They don't continue to ruminate on what happened and relive it. They move on. Stress shuts down digestion to provide oxygen and energy to arms and legs to fight or flee. Constant stress causes persistent digestive distress and nutrient malabsorption problems. Prepare calmly and do not be anxious, because the brain will store fat to save your life in some future famine you keep thinking about and preparing for. It is trying to save your life. Stress is part of life and something you cannot avoid - and prosper. Managing stress is a lesson I had to learn myself. I used to be a health coach and I was my first client. I closed my private practice in April 2020.

Hey buddy, greetings from Colombia! I enjoyed the video. I got a chuckle about the topic of chaos. I (always) tell my wife: The standard is Fire, Flood, or Blood. Anything else is just an inconvenience. The entire premise of the OODA loop is: Embrace the chaos! (and control it)
