mediumcore becomes a lot more bearable when you remember the golden rule: Never leave home with anything you cannot afford to lose. for this reason, chests are one of the most useful items in mediumcore and on another note, don't bring an entire armory's worth of ammo, and an entire pharmacy's worth of potions. expendables like those can always be stockpiled at home, and you can always return to resupply.

More like the Terraria Masochist Experience now that "Masochist Mode" is no longer a Fargo's difficulty setting. I think mediumcore is a hellscape because unlike Minecraft, there is a lot more progression in Terraria. Losing a set of iron gear (or even diamond if you're into villager trading) in Minecraft is hardly a setback because it's easy to acquire a new set, and if you go to retrieve your stuff it's not like there's Hardmode like in Terraria where there are things that kill you faster than before. There's also not much of a biome difficulty discrepancy other than overworld/nether/end.

Medium core enjoyer here. Some advice: -At least in preharmode, keep all your best weapons in your house when exploring. You never know when you are going to die, and you need to be stacked to get your stuff back. -Use recovery potions. Magic mirror doesn’t cut it. When you are in a dangerous place it’s better to come back quick rather than rely on your luck to beat the enemies on time. -Don’t use cosmetic armor or accesories. When you die they will fill up space when you pick up your things back. You might need time to reorder stuff before you die again and loose more stuff. -Main two classes. Going naked to pick up your stuff might not be so hard in the early game, but remember that you will start the same way in harmode while enemies will be stronger. Having another class setup + weapons in your spawn is a must. -Be aware of invasions. Def the most dangerous thing in mediumcore. Enemies will not stop spawning unless you defeat a certain amount of them. They will go to your spawnpoint and camp you over and over. My advice is to have a sea conch in your inventory while the invasion is active and abuse it. The invasion stops in the edge of the world, so you can take your time to regen health and avoid dying. In harmode my advice is to have a teleporter near your spawnpoint so you can escape in your I-frames. The teleporter should lead you far away from spawn to a safe place. You should keep the equipment I mentioned earlier there from now on.

i've genuinely NEVER played mediumcore despite completing several master hardcore playthroughs and a few legendary softcore playthroughs, i just never was in the mood for more punishing deaths than usual but less than hardcore

mediumcore got me to make 4 pairs of terraspark boots also do you know how much damage a deathsphere in master mode does? do you know whats the max amout of hp a character can respawn with? did you know deathsphere sticks over your death location until you respawn? did you know deathsphere's have stupid amount of defense to be able to deal with them quickly answers being 280 damage and 250 spawning hp

Dying at night when your house is a little bit away from spawn is the worst feeling ever. Zombies and demon eyes spawn in and get you in a death loop. Then you accidentally create a cemetery 💀

Yesterday I wasted 7 hours trying to get all my things back because I died in between the hallow, dessert, normal cave, and all after defeating wall of flesh in that "new world" I was exploring. So I managed to do a safe path using a copper pickaxe (because as it was a new world I didn't have anything saved to go back) to do a tunnel avoiding a dessert so no big worms kill me, and surprise the goblin invasion started. After getting killed by one of the tp dudes from Underground hallow I had to fight goblin invasion with a copper sword (and no NPCs because they died instantly) thankfully at hour 5 I managed to reach 12% and a goblin gave me a a weapon that I used to progress faster, at hour 6 I managed to defeat the goblins and decided that I would go ultra safe mode digging and closing the path behind me until I could reach my loot dropped 7 hours ago (end game loot that's why I wouldn't give up) until finally at hour 8 (yes an hour of mining with copper pickaxe) I finally got to my loot and found that what killed me was a pack of dinamite while I was half my life so I proceeded to completely destroy hallow, corruption, and the desert out of rage

So basically, "Remind yourself that overconfidence" something something something. After a few runs of Mediumcore (and either Expert or Master world) I've learned to play it safer. Earlier armor and food is pretty vital, even just wood armor and hitting trees for fruit if that's all you can see, it only takes a minute. I also like to rush fishing pretty early (go for oasis crates if possible for potential conch shell and good fishing rod), but that's a bit boring and not for everyone.

I don't know, in Corruption jumping down the hole can let you avoid enemies altogether while in Crimson walking down the cave you just have to hope there aren't any enemies.

I genuinely believe that mediumcore is the worst difficulty in terraria, as an experience. It obviously is not as difficult as hardcore, technically you can die and get your stuff back, you technically have infinite chances... *technically* unlike minecraft though, the game gets a lot more difficult as you go, and by hardmode, dying once can make it pretty much impossible to get your stuff back easily. good job throarbin, for suffering mediumcore and making a high quality video in the process

My first full playthrough was mediumcore and I finished 100% achievements in in The Number of times I fell down my hellevator and had to get back down it without dying was near infinite lol
