Actually my father is suffering from renal swelling and spleen enlargement. In this case prednisolone is used as treatment for renal and on other hand platelet count was decreasing so I discussed with my doctor why it is decreasing, he said that steroids may increases platelet counts in some of cases so he suggested to take opinion with hemetologist they tried all medicine and suggested Splenectomy.. At last they tried revolade 50, electrombopag and that is working. But I don't know how revolade medicine is increasing the platelet count, I mean according to doctor platelet is consuming by the spleen by its enlarged behaviour. Can u please explain weather it is treating Spleen coz bone marrow shows normal platelet growth.

Have had decreasing platelets through the years (with exception of two years back when it went up to 175,000) in 68 y/o female. Current testing showed 124,000 accompanied by large bruise at blood draw site (first time that's happened). Thirteen days later it's still trying to get better, improving. It's the only bruise on my whole body. No petechial rashes. Nondrinker/nonsmoker with fatty liver (former carb lover). Albumin is high normal as well. Doctor diagnosed thrombocytopenia and is considering referral to hematologist...leukemia? Any thoughts?

I acquired ITP after Moderna vaccine. Prior to vaccine my platelets were 250,000 and 8 weeks after vaccine they dropped to 100,000 and have been decreasing ever since down to 40,000. Dr are not treating me yet. The fatigue is debilitating. Changed the quality of my life. Apparently, the MRNA vaccines can” slip”and cause a unwanted immune response like destruction of your own platelets. There is research proving this and researchers are acknowledging this and trying to make the MRNA technology slip resistant. This doesn’t help the people who got the first wave of mRNA vaccines. We were literally guinea pigs for this new technology. My question is how can I stop the auto immune response caused by the mRNA vaccine?

@@MedicosisPerfectionalis i just realized you commented recently did not know you were active on this video so just reposting my comment here if maybe you will see it im not a doctor/hematologist or student of science really at all... my cousin was admitted in the icu last weekend and i just found 2 days ago; they didnt know what it was but his spleen had previously been enlarged and he had dizziness nausea and vomited after taking zofran (a migraine medication). For some reason his platelet count dropped incredibly quick and his white blood cells or antibodies I guess were receiving the message from his spleen to attack his own red blood cells. they did 2pints worth of transfusions and they were entirely rejected, and they cant remove the spleen without him bleeding out. now i just got the data and his platelet count is very low like 10,000 low and hes losing his vision- the doctors dont know what it is and have very few options. and i know its worse than bad, I know theres not much more room for it to get worse Im just doing what i can to understand what it is even though I know im no doctor or specialist and that the team working on him will know the best course of action. That being said from talking with some professionals I know and doing a lot of reading I believe he has idiopathic thrombocytopenia and (AIHA) hemolytic anemia, which are attributable to a very rare autoimmune disorder called Evans syndrome... idk if im right but it looks like steroid medications can be used to suppress the immune system and decrease the production of antibodies after which I assume a transfusion can be attempted again? and if his blood levels/platelets are high enough and the immune system isnt destroying the new blood or at least not as fast they should be able to operate and remove the spleen? sorry for the long message and i really appreciated the video

What if the patient has a combination of anemia and low platelets but a normal white blood cell count? I am trying to solve a medical case for one of my stories and a 40 year old man has several fractures, a hemoglobin of 8, and a clinically low platelet count. I already have a hypothesis as to the cause of the anemia. My best guess is that the bleeding from the fractures has lead to a symptomatic iron deficiency anemia. What I'm worried about most though is the low platelets. Since it is clinically low, the patient is more prone to spontaneous bleeding. And more bleeding means persistence and possibly a worsening of the iron deficiency anemia. As I said at the beginning, the white blood cell count is not affected. If the anemia gets worse, that would be bad, not only because of lack of oxygen transport and the jaundice that will result several days later as the red blood cells outside of the bloodstream break down, but also because the anemia is already symptomatic. Obviously both the thrombocytopenia and the anemia need to be treated, but the thrombocytopenia is of higher priority than the iron deficiency anemia, right, despite the anemia itself being symptomatic?

Hi. I 6 months ago, my platelets count was about 64000, doctors said it is ITP, i didn't have signs when they said it. But in these days, I can see signs of ITP, bruises on my hands (Red to purple), bleeding from gum, nose and etc. Is it getting serious? Do those signs mean that my Platelets count is getting lower?

hi, I'm a 66 yr.old male and 4 years ago was diagnosed with a low platelet count of 124000. A few months ago it was down to 101,000.. My specialist said to me not to worry and when it gets down to 20000 they I will need to take steroids!? She said that usually works but is that treatment for a short time frame? She also said it has side effects.
@ImPERFECTO065 жыл бұрын
Yes it has side-effects such as weight gain , hairloss , bloated skin , heart burn etc
@rudfil5 жыл бұрын
@@ImPERFECTO06 ok, but is the steroid treatment short term or forever?
@ImPERFECTO065 жыл бұрын
@@rudfil weight gain and skin bloating will eventually go away with calorie deficit diet and exercise but hair loss is permanent (You do not have to take steroids at this stage by the way. You may take papaya leaf ectract every morning. Platelet count will be normal within week or so )

Why is it dangerous for persons with low blood platelets to get covid? I can't figure it out

hi all, I have an existing auto immune disorder. At the time of posting this comment my platelet count is 4,000. I have petechiae all of my body and i am having a high dose of steriods to supress the immune system to slow down the destruction of red blood cells. Don't stress too much as a doctor or patient if platelet count is low just avoid doing physical activity (like construction) if you want to continue with your life or go to emergency for a blood transfusion.

Hi Mian, my condition is still the same. But, my platelet count is about 90,000. I take prednisone for treatment. Sometimes I take immune suppressants when my hemoglobin in low.

Hi there, I’m doing well and I’m off steroids. Im currently taking anti-virals medication because of my auto immune disorder as per my doctor’s instructions. I’m 28 years old my platelet account is still usually around 90,000. I truly believe it all comes down to mindset for me. My platelet count and even hemoglobin count would drop because I would be fearful and anxious of life decisions such as career and relationships. I’ve just changed my mindset by being on the offensive by giving almost anything a go which I believe has reduced my chances of a very low platelet count.

Please don't forget the liver and can also destroy platelets that is why splenectomy has only a 60% chance of cure. Also you never give platelets for prophylactic treatment as this can trigger and immune response and make the patient sicker. I am a patient with ITP and I am concerned that giving misinformation could cause a patient to get treated wrong especially if a student doctor or nurse watch this video.
