hi @throtl, i know you are experienced in building cars/engines but just wanted to mention that the screws for the oil pan, the 2 screws that seat below the timing belt are shorter in length than the rest, this is so that they dont scratch the timing belt when the engine is assembled. You can research that information on google if you want. Nice Build!

Intake has been off, the triangular brace that suppotrs it was gone which probably means the head has been off They're called ballance shafts, and you should do a balance shaft removal

As some one that daily drives a 4g63 with no counter shafts I have to say there is no noticeable increase in engine vibration. I was not seeking horsepower removing mine I wanted to get rid of the belt that had given the 90 to 94 guys issues.
