Thanks for this. I will give it a clean. Engine in my D3 v8 s already running great but this could only help. Previously I had an engine light which was fixed by simply putting a new air filter in! In addition, for maintenance I cleaned the MAF and the MAP sensor as well as putting some liqui molly injector cleaner in the fuel tank.

Excellent video. The shop recently replaced all the coils on my '06 RRS when I had a rough idle and the engine threw a reduced engine performance error. The coils were less than a year old, so fortunately it was under their parts warranty. But sounds like maybe I should also clean the throttle body myself. Thanks.

Yeah cleaning the MAF and throttle body are pretty easy, also change air filter. If it's still rough after that then it's time to maybe spend more money 💸

Awesome video. I have the SDV6 & need to clean the throttle body as the valve is sticking. Can I take it off completely, clean it & then reinstall without the need to plug a reader into the OBD port? 😁

Yeah if you remove the throttle body it's more annoying, but fully removing it isn't that necessary.

Great Video. Also watched your MAF Sensor cleaning vid and subscribed. Recently purchased a 2012 RRS. Unfortunately it has started to die on idle. Took to the shop and they replaced the Crank Position sensor, and cleaned throttle body. Issue stopped for 3 days but popped back up. It's not throwing codes, which makes it tough. Maybe it's MAF sensor? Curious if you have a POV?

It's cheaper and easier to clean the MAF, get a new air filter, and re-clean the throttle body on your own to see what happens. If you still have the issue then consider taking to dealer since the electronic throttle body may need calibrating. It's always a hassle to take to the dealer so I usually try everything that's cheap first and see what happens. 9/10 it solves the issue.

This engine used an electronic throttle body. I've always read that one shouldn't manually force the butterfly valve open to clean the backside of it as it may damage the TB. You can press on the accelerator to open it up and keep the pedal depressed with a stick or something.

There are two concerns, first that the calibration will be affected, and second that the gearing will be affected. As long as the throttle body is disconnected (and engine off) while cleaning, and you are careful with opening/closing as to not strip gears, it should be OK. I've always cleaned it this way and have never had any issues. I know that's anecdotal 😅

Hey just a quick question. I watched another video before seeing this one where the guy warned against moving the flap because it could throw the calibration off. To clean the backside, he removed the four bolts and pulled the whole thing off so he could just access the whole back of the body. Your method is obviously appealing because there's less disassembly. Just wondering what you think about his claim of a potential calibration issue. Appreciate your help!!

The electronic throttle body shouldn't become uncalibrated by manually moving the plate, however it will be slightly off after cleaning since the computer is "used to" the carbon buildup, so when it's cleaned it might take a few days to get used to a new clean throttle plate. As long as you're gentle with opening the plate it shouldn't be an issue.

Hey Brother, I followed your steps on cleaning the throttle and air mass sensor, then I was driving today to test it and I got my first fault ever in my sport. A hdc fault and parking brake fault? Do you have any suggestions on this happening from cleaning these two things?

Those two sensors shouldn't be related to HDC and parking brake, I get those faults too particularly when it's cold outside but it tends to resolve. My guess is low starting voltage of the battery in cold weather.

Great video.. I officially am gonna start trying to do repairs myself.. Can anyone help here?? Last week, I got the restricted performance error. didnt check out what was going on as I turned the car off and it went away. It came back the other night. 1st, could not drive over 30.. then later it allowed me to drive fine but engine light was on. In the morning, all gone and I could drive normal with no errors. I decided to check what error codes were flagged. 1) P2135 Throttle Position Sensor 2) P2105 Throttle Control System 3) P0660 Intake Manifold Tuning Valve its weird that it goes away and comes back. Never know when its going to do this but need to fix. Today I cleaned the mass airflow sensor hoping that helps but drove great for a few days 50-100 miles then happened again. Any ideas? Was gonna try cleaning the throttle body.. i have a 2011 L322 HSE I don't think you can replace just the throttlebody sensor you have to replace the whole unit if it comes to that

Hi!! I have a 06 range rover sport supercharged that I'm having problems with. Has anyone had accelerating issues or lags when pressing pedal all the way down to the ground. It takes forever to pick up some speed and won't go over 50mph and if there is any incline on the road the speed drops significantly. Happened to me on the freeway and almost caused a huge wreck. I'm going to give this a shot on my LR3. I don't have a check engine light, but I have an annoying message indicating "Reduced Engine Performance." The air filter from previous owner was deplorable, so I changed it. And I also cleaned the MAF sensor. The message remains. No real rough idle issues to speak of, just the message.

Hello, I have a problem. The position of the transmission is not visible on the 4x4 information display. When I lower and lift the suspension, the animation doesn't play, it stays fixed. When I turn the steering wheel, the animation that plays still stays on the screen and does not rotate. sometimes the screen gets stuck on the land rover icon. I bypassed the optical cable in the trunk, but my problem was not solved. what do you think is the reason?
