Throttle Valve Delete 2011 6.7 Cummins 3500

Delete for the throttle valve aka EGR air flow control valve. It's the butterfly valve just before the air intake horn. Although it didn't fix the issue I'm having its nice to have it out of the way just for piece of mind. I didn't notice any improvement in performance. A cheaper way to do this is to take the flap out by unscrewing the two nuts on the inside and sliding the flap out.

You mentioned airbrake. If I delete and install like you did would it affect me airbrake? I utilize my airbrake often when towing my 32+ foot camper trailer.

adamlov7 nope. Not if you have an exhaust brake like mine. They are intergraded into your turbo so as long as you don’t replace your turbo with one that’s not a VGT you’ll always have your stock exhaust brake.

Yeah, truck will go into limp mode if you don't have a tuner.

I have a 2010 3500 dodge and I did the erg and the dpf delete but it still having the same problem that it doesn’t want to run ,, but I don’t have a tuner ,, you think that I need a tuner and if I do which one you think will work better

I have a 2016 6.7, what are the pros and cons of doing this delete? mines all stock, and was wondering if I just left it as is does it matter?

12345 Abcd it would stop your truck from "inhaling" so much of the exhaust from the EGR resulting in better fuel economy and lower EGT's and give you more longevity in the motor. Not to mention a little more power since your truck would be burning more fuel when you punch it instead of fuel then fuel mixed with hot exhaust. I couldn't tell you if you could do this without a programmer in a 2016, one way you could test it is by simply unplugging the electrical connection going to your throttle valve and seeing if your truck throws a code. If it does, simply plug it back in and you'd know that you need a programmer to stop the code.

Drew Reed your need a tuner if not the ecm will sense you’re stuff is unplugged and go bonkers putting your truck in derate or limp mode. Your dash will light up like a Christmas tree also lol.

I would delete anything older than 2018. As for the air horn and throttle valve, there wasn’t enough of a result in any manner that made this an efficient upgrade. It will in fact “breath easier” but not enough to warrant the cost IMO.

I have a 2011 with the 6.7, and it’s fully deleted with this Sinister Diesel kit, 4” exhaust with a Diamond Eye muffler, high flow air filter and a H&S Mini Maxx tuner, awesome power and sounds amazing!

when you deleted your throttle valve, how did you reset your (Service Throttle Valve)? I have a Bully Dog Tuner and I deleted EGR and DPF.

Vadim Sidorov I didn't need to reset anything so I'm not sure what your asking? When you delete the EGR, they instruct you to unplug the throttle valve. So it shouldn't be electronically connected to anything right now. If I've missed something please let me know.

Drew Reed, my throttle sensor is unplugged. Is your map sensor unplugged also? I just get a message on my display screen that I need to (service throttle valve) the lighting symbol shows . I have a 2015 ram 3500

Hey I just fixed it, one of my sensors was not plugged in and it through out the throttle message and a P0472 code. I plugged it in and reset the bully dog. All codes are cleared. Truck runs great!

Just simply remove the inner flap and plug it back up and problem solved. Free just requires some fine whiskey and some tools

Cody Brown no, still not sure what the issue is. It seems to do it in the cold weather more than in the warm so I think it’s actually something electronic with how the truck turns on the exhaust brake to warm up faster. Might be that it glitches out somewhere. I’ve been told to try and trace the wiring back to the ecu because there maybe a wire grounding out but I couldn’t find anything there either.

it looks like there are 2 screws bolting the butterfly to the shaft. If I'm right couldn't you just remove the butterfly and get the same results?

Jerome Frady absolutely. Only benefit of use this part is that you don’t have the shaft in the middle or the soot build up. I don’t think there would be much difference in airflow using this part as opposed to just removing the butterfly but some say every little bit helps and it was pretty cheap.

Rudy Reyna i removed the butterfly on mine thinking this would trick the ecu into thinking it was still there because technically the sensors are all still plugged in but after about fifty miles the engine lights on.it builds boost way quicker without the butterfly and i noticed a decent gain in mpg so im just gonna have to deal with a better running truck that just has a light on!

I disconnected my egr throttle body valve connection and CEL came and stayed on. I'm programmed and was surprised with that. Plugged it back in and CEL turned off.

It's not that the phone is "bad ass", it's the fact that KZbin now supports 60fps videos (as opposed to 30fps). 60fps gives it that 'live' look and makes motion look a lot sharper. Movies are usually 24fps to give them that 'hollywood' look, if they were shown at 60fps they'd look fake, think behind-the-scenes footage.

Clayton Alvarado no, didn’t have any issues when it was running. Video was made 4 years ago and truck isn’t mine any more. Never did find the issue, only did it in the cold tho, not sure if that helps you.

I know this is an old thread, but on my 2012 6.7 i did get that wining noise. Turned out my air filter was too dirty. Is there another issue that causes this related to this valve?

It did great. Put over 200k miles on it while using the delete kit. Outlasted two turbos, an alternator and a water pump before I traded the vehicle in.

FK..! I have a 2015, with 4,ooo miles on it. and I get the same feeling when it ideas and gets hot, seems the exhaust break opens and runs like shit. ? Well, I will be deleting a lot of shit this summer. and may get the air horn. being we have to delete all the shit going to it anyways. so far , I'm going Sinister Diesel.!!

Nope. I've had a problem where occasionally on start up it sounds and acts like my exhaust break is turning on. I cant get it to turn off without shutting the truck off and restarting it. Doesn't put up any codes and won't get up over 1500 rpm without a lot of effort, then when it does it shoots up to 3k RPM and my EGT's reach around 900-1k. I'm starting to think it's some kind of bug in the electronics somewhere :/

+David Vardy it's not in limp, it pours fuel to the motor like crazy but the boost won't build pressure that's why I thought the intake or exhaust was getting blocked. I'm certain it has something to do with the exhaust break and electronics controlling it because it corrects itself simply by turning the engine off and back on again :/

this is not a throttle body the only purpose of this device is to help raise the temperature (egt) only when it goes Into Regen mode.

Ace Ventura I agree with you Mr. Pet Detective, completely! This is most certainly not a throttle body. The video is however correctly labeled.
